The location of the home was perfect for our stay. We didn’t enjoy the pool due to it being fall, but the old and unique home was a delight. Sheila was responsive and helpful in each inquiry. The beds and bathrooms were clean.

Kitchen was awesome, with plenty of cooking utensils and dishes. Gas stove and oven was great, but burners had to be lit with a lighter. Plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, towels, wash cloths, and extra blankets. Plenty of condiments. Light switches & controls were confusing; recommend considering labels over switches. Fireplace worked great. TV controls/remotes were confusing; recommend including instructions. Recommend instructions for heating / cooling controls.

First impressions are important and our host did not disappoint us. Sheila usually responded to our questions within a hour of asking. The house is ideally set up with main living area on the ground floor and bedrooms upstairs. All bedrooms are of good size with easy access to bathrooms. The open floor plan is ideal for a large family gathering. The kitchen is large and ergonomically organized for meal preparations. Highly recommend.

This was the perfect spot for an extended weekend family reunion. Beautiful house with plenty of room, and Sheila was very communicative. Five stars!

House was perfect for our needs as we were close to Penguin Rep theater and visiting to see a show. However I was notified by the host on Saturday morning before check in that the main AC unit broke the day before. I requested that she get someone to come fix it (our stay was the 2 hottest days on record in some time) and she said she had tried on Friday but couldn’t. She did not try again. I think a host should make it a priority to have contractors on hand who are committed to helping with emergencies. We had some older members and by the second day the heat was oppressive. Otherwise it was a nice home.

The house itself is very nice and spacious. The kitchen is great with plenty of counter space and equipment provided. Overall it was a nice stay for the price. But there are a couple things that could have been better. Firstly the floors were filthy in the common areas. Everyone’s socks/feet were coated with dirt after only staying a couple hours. Someone stepped on a rusty tack that was under the carpet on the front porch. There wasn’t enough toilet paper or paper towels so we had to go out and grab extras. There are some metal plates laying in the backyard that could be dangerous for dogs/young children. The latch for one of the upstairs bathroom doors doesn’t work and pops right off if someone tries opening the door. All in all not a terrible stay by any means but there are a couple area that could use improvement at the time of our stay.

We had an amazing stay over Christmas! The house was even decorated for the holidays. Highly recommend for a large family or group of friends looking for a great home for entertaining. The large open kitchen, dining room, and living room were perfect!

My son, daughter-in-law and grandkids we able to have a home cooked thanksgiving dinner with us, an aunt and uncle and grandmother. It was a wonderful time!

At first glimpse the house matched the VRBO description. It soon became apparent that most rooms needed attention (broken switches, lights that didn’t work, kitchen and family room furniture in need of replacement, no screens in some bedrooms, dead houseplants…)

The photos definitely don’t show a lot of the repairs the home needs. A lot of broken fixtures and light switches, missing bulbs etc. We thought the place could use a lot of basic repairs but ultimately felt it was suitable to our needs. We felt the checkout instructions were lacking with no real indication for where we were meant to leave the trash and recycling but instructions to “take them out”. I also feel the host could better outline and photograph the amenities in the listing, especially labeling each of the bedrooms. We thought there were 6 bedrooms with beds but the 6th was an attic room with a folding mattress that was very uncomfortable. It’s a beautiful home but it needs some work.

We had a great time! Was a great set up and great location for our larger group. The host was very accommodating and we would definitely stay again.

Outside by the fire pit or inside watching the game or eating, a good time was had by all

We stayed at this property for a family vacation. The property is beautiful!! It was very clean with ample supplies like kitchen items, towels for the bathroom as well as towels for the pool. The owner thought of everything! Thank you!

Two families had a great stay celebrating Ring Weekend with their West Point Cadets. Spacious, clean, and convenient, the home contributed greatly to a wonderful weekend.

Great stay and an awesome place. Very cool outdoor area with pool, fire pit, and covered porch. Host was great too, highly recommend!

House is beautiful and quirky like an old home is. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The house was clean with the exception of a tray of cooked food which was left in the oven. I was also promised a 10% military discount which I never got.

The whole house was clean, true to the listing, and the host was responsive. The kitchen had everything we needed and more, the individual air conditioners in the rooms upstairs and one in the living room/kitchen kept us cool in a heat wave, and the pool was large enough for a group.

Our group ranged in age from 1-80 and everyone enjoyed hanging at the pool and visiting Stony Point Battlefield Park. It was literally 5 minutes away and entertaining for all. The house was well equipped and the host responsive. We would definitely return!
