This quaint, inviting retreat is perfect for a romantic getaway for couples or an ideal family bonding vacation for up to four. It has all the amenities you need to be comfortable and is situated ideally in the south side neighborhood of The Cottages at Heron's Landing. Relaxation meets recreation as you enjoy the front porch view of the Illinois waterway or saunter five minutes into town to dine, shop or gather with friends.
The kitchen is fully equipped with quality appliances including a Keurig coffee maker, toaster, utensils, pot and pans. Just bring the groceries and you’ll have everything you need to cook your favorite meal. The kitchen, dining area and living room is one large open space for everyone to congregate and spend time cooking, eating and playing together. Read a book, watch a movie, or spend quality time with friends or family.
For restful sleep, dream away in the bedroom with queen size bed and additional flat screen TV. Wake up and sit on the covered porch in the morning as you enjoy your coffee. Write. Catch up on the novel you’ve been meaning to read. Relish the calm and serenity.
House Rules:
During your stay, we ask that you remember to be respectful of your neighbors. Quiet hours are from 10pm- 7am. For real, take the party to the many downtown bars, where live music is always playing.
Additionally, thank you for respecting our "no smoking" and "no pets" policy so that we can keep our properties in the best condition possible. Pets include but are not limited to cats, zebras, livestock, and/or spouses. Should you choose to ignore this, there will be a $300 fine assessed for breaking either of these rules. We thank you for refraining and being respectful of our homes - please don't make us hunt you down for fines as it cuts into our naptime.
Also, do not forget to enjoy all the nearby amenities and activities including swimming, fire pits, kayaking, kite flying, trail hiking/walking, bike riding trails, craft beer and wine tasting, zip lining, sky diving, glass blowing, and much more, not to mention the fun you will have just strolling around the Harbor and enjoying the sand bar, beach and restaurant.
Thank you for the opportunity- we hope to be back and explore further options. Bridget and Jeremy (Harbor Master) were amazing to work with and to visit with as well.
It was a beautiful resort, we will definitely come back. Everyone was very helpful that we interacted with.
Easy access to the river. We like to go fishing on shore and just relax. We got nothing but I think it just the time of the year. The cottage is nice, quiet and we were able to relax. Friendly and accomodating
Great time! Was a perfect place to start and end our days after hiking Starved Rock State Park.
Loved the cottage. Hopefully we can return next spring or summer, stay longer & this time bring our bikes to ride the trail. We received a gift card to Red Dog Grill for booking a 2 night weekday stay. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open the 2nd day of our stay. Rich was super accommodating to us & gave us cash instead to go to another restaurant in downtown Ottawa. Great customer service! Thanks again Rich.
We were impressed. We did not pick ideal days for using your water craft--fall and 50 mile/hour winds, but would love to come back and do that. We were there for hiking in the area and found it to be a great option outside of the lodge. Loved the mid-week privacy and overall setting. Clean and comfortable. Loved your bar/restaurant. Came in for a late lunch before checking in to our cottage, and we were so impressed with the food and drink. Natasha was a great waitress. Came back the next night for an early dinner and again very impressed with the food, and again Natasha served us. She's an asset for sure. Really didn't interact face-to-face with others, but Curry (sp?) was helpful on the phone and Rich did call us about the wifi.
Great stay all around love the notes on rocks Great office people helped with anything we called on
Overall, a very nice weekend. I have already recommended your property to several friends. We will definitely visit again.
Very enjoyable. Lovely view and location from Huck Finn Did not interact with staff. Everything was done internet
I'll definitely be back to share the experience with other family & friends Super friendly!
Heritage Harbor was fantastic. As soon as we drove up and could see the cottages, it was love at first sight. Immediate relaxation set it, for pandemic-weary parents of two young kids. We needed a weekend away and this was the perfect place - not too far from home, beautiful nature all around, a pool to take a dip in on a hot summer day, sitting by the river and watching the sun set - just too many to list. We loved it and cannot wait to go back! We called Rich on a couple of occasions as we were settling in. He was so gracious and helpful each time. Thank you, Rich!
This house was great and I will most likely rent it again. I don't think the bed was a true queen. Instead, I'm pretty sure it was a full size. Other than that everything I needed was there. It was great going to the river to fish and being able to come in and wash my clothes. Drinking my coffee on the porch, and grilling all while watching the Illinois river provided peace and tranquility.
This is my second Heritage Harbor visit. Last fall we invited another couple to join us in Eddy’s Hideaway. Great accommodations for two couples. This time, Huck Finn was the perfect cozy cottage for three old friends to relax and reconnect. If these walls could talk, they would say, “Thanks for the memories!” Heritage Harbor cottages are spotlessly clean, comfortable and inviting. The grounds are well maintained and the staff is friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be making return visits! Everyone was very friendly and helpful, from my initial phone call to make the reservation to check in and check out. Sorry I forgot the name of the staff member who let us join a tour of new cottages, but thanks!
Had a blast! The office staff was very knowledgeable, returned phone calls promptly, and upon arrival, everything was just as we were told.
The cottage was very roomy and comfortable even on a rainy day stuck inside Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu
The only comment I have & by no means will it prevent me from staying again in the future is that the bed is too high for a short person (I am 5'1-1/2 tall) without a step up. The curtains on the doors need to be alittle less sheer so passers by do not see in at night. Again not complaints just thoughts. I will definitely stay again. The staff was very friendly and efficient checking me in quickly and effortlessly sending me on my way to enjoy my stay in record time.
Great place just to get away Very friendly
Enjoyed the peace and quiet , as well as the view of the river Friendly staff , and accommodating
