House / Villa - Giarre

Set in a lovely village close to Mt Etna, it was ideal for our holiday. The village has a good supermarket, a butcher, some bars and an excellent restaurant with good staff. Carmelo was a lovely host, who waited for us late at night to show us the villa and settle us in. He checked on us a few more times to make sure everything was all right and gave us information about the area, he joked about his English but he was easy to understand and we communicated very well. The villa was clean and had very comfortable beds. Unfortunately, it was very cold and wet during our stay so we did not make use of the small garden or terrace but the villa had central heating so we were very warm in the mornings and evenings. In the Summer, it would be great to have meals outside and enjoy the garden. There were 6 of us and we had enough space to enjoy the villa. Be careful when using the main bathroom, there is no shower curtain and we wet the bathroom floor several times. The village is not very busy and 2 of the 3 bedrooms are right next to the street, if you are a light sleeper, you might be woken by a passing car but I do stress, the traffic is light, it is not a major road. There is a slow internet connection, good for light use but if you need to work, you are better off going to Catania and using the wifi in one of the bars. We did this when 2 people had some work to do one day and was not a problem. I certainly recommend staying here and the villa is close to the airport, major motorway to Catania and Taromina and of course the amazing Mt Etna. We also loved walking around the village and buying food in the local shops, a perfect place to stay. Unfortunately, I left a very good pair of scissors in the kitchen, so if you use it, think of me.

We had a great time in Sicily, thanks to the owner and his wife for letting us rent their house. It,s very comfortable, clean and big enough for 5 adults and a 10 months old baby. The garden was a wonderful place to be when it was warm, in the evening we sat on the terrace. We visited the Etna ofcourse and many other beautiful places...San Giovanni is a nice village with supermarket, great restaurant and a place to drink coffee in the morning ! Very friendly people !!! We all miss it , back in our cold Holland !!

We had a very enjoyable week in this spacious, clean and comfortable house. The lovely garden, private parking and the back porch are a few of the bonuses coming with this accommodation. But what impressed us mostly was the outstanding hospitality of Carmello and Eliana. To list only few examples of their warm welcome and generosity: showing us the way to the house from the motorway exit, offering free accommodation for my parents as a gift for my father's birthday, awaiting us with delicious traditional hot food and tasty wine, free fresh oranges and lemons every day, helping with local advice etc. Thank you very much for the great week we had in your house! Nice accomodation. Conform to the description on the website : very clean and confortable. Most of all,Carmelo and his wife are outstanding hosts, friendly and available. A nice place to spend time with family.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is very nice (with all the home aplliances that you might need), the garden is lovely and the hosts will do everything possible to make you feel confortable. You will be able to see the smoking Etna from your doorsteps. With a rental car (try find a local rental, not the ones from the airport) you can visit splendid places like Taormina, Syracusa or even Catania and have a taste of the wonderfull Sicily.

The house is beautiful and clean and the hosts are really welcoming. The location is suitable to visit Taormina, Etna, Catania and Siracusa. A car is mandatory.

The accommodation was nice, apart from the neighbors. Only it was situated near the street, so we could hear traffic noise. The owner was very courteous and helpful, brought us wine made by himself, and marmelade made by his wife. Also he treated us to fruits and berries. All in all, we had a wonderful holiday and would recommend the flat.
