Welcome to Shift Vacation Rental’s Mississippi District location! We have a stunning urban oasis; a few minutes walk from the fun and trendy N Mississippi District. This newly revived area has become one of the hippest places to shop, dine and drink. The street is lined with chic foodie restaurants, live music venues, and a bevy of bars, boutiques and brewpubs. Colorful buildings line the main thoroughfare of Mississippi, while historic and charming residential neighborhoods surround the area.
This fully remodeled home will be beyond your expectations. Flooded with light and handmade touches this house is an amazing transformation of a 1920's bungalow. The house was remodeled for use as a vacation rental and set up perfectly for people to gather and relax in. As you enter natural light from windows and white clapboard wood surround, makes you feel like you've entered a sweet farmhouse. The open floor plan captures the kitchen, living room and dining room perfect for family and friends to gather in. Everything you need from a coffee grinder and maker, to cookie sheets, to blenders are all provided for you.
The kitchen is stocked with plates, glasses, etc to serve a big family dinner at the gorgeous wood dining table. It is stocked with everything from toaster, microwave, ice maker, blender, good knives, you name it. But, you may not even want to cook as you are within a few minutes walk from some of Portland's finest eateries.
The first floor has 2 bedrooms, and one full bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed, while the other has a double down/twin up bunk bed. The bathroom has a beautifully tiled shower, with large rain shower head. Walk downstairs and you enter into another entertaining area, with TV, games, and cozy seating area. A perfect spot to send the kids to play while the adults hang upstairs. Downstairs has 2 bedrooms each with a queen bed. There is also a full bathroom with beautiful tile and a double shower head!
There is free street parking on the street. Typically you can park either right out front or within 1 to 2 blocks. It isn't bad for a city.
The house sits on a lot with another vacation rental, a 5 bed-3 bath, stunning modern home. You can rent both for larger groups, workshops, reunions! If you need more rentals we also have a duplex, a 5 minute drive away in the Alberta neighborhood. Contact us for more details.
We are fully permitted and compliant with the City of Portland. Permit number #TL90949.
Thanks for the welcoming treats!
Very easy to find, key right in the lock box. Great bag of coffee to add to our mornings. Very thoughtful and we would stay here again. Very comfortable beds and clean. Overall, great place to stay!
We can to Portland to visit family just north in Vancouver, WA. House was very clean, well appointed and Michelle and team were great. Very warm and inviting home, especially in the rain, fun to watch from the porch. Kids had a great time in the basement while the adults had the upstairs. Fit our large family without any problem at all, lots of extra supplies, detergent, paper towels, cooking goods, so we didn't have to make extra runs after we stocked up. Loved having a washer on-site of course too. Portland wouldn't be complete without amazing coffee - be sure to go to Albina Press next door on the corner. My daughter insisted we go twice a day for hot cocoa - great milk foam art and a taqueria in the parking lot that is great too. Can't wait to come back in the summer now that we know the area better. And looking forward to renting the backhouse too.
This property is absolutely amazing. Comfortable for our family of 5 to stay prior to and during a wedding celebration! We loved the rooms, the unique features, the bathrooms and the spacious kitchen. The weather was nice enough to enjoy the porch and the courtyard, too. Amazing location in walking distance to lots of Mississippi restaurants and bars, so driving was not necessary. Lastly, the hospitality from the owners was awesome. We can't wait to find another reason to stay in Portland so we can stay at this house!
The home was a great venue for our company holiday dinner. Michelle was very helpful accomodating our early check-in and all the guests commented they’d love to stay there and explore the neighborhood! Highly recommended, thanks!!
It was a wonderful stay. Would love to stay there again when in Portland!
We had a family-and-friends reunion here for a week, and rented this house as well as the house directly behind it (and owned by the same people), and it worked out fantastically for everyone! The layout of both houses allows for everybody to come together if they want, or to find a quieter corner if that's what they want. The room decor was very appealing, and the beds very nice! The neighborhood couldn't have been better - great for walking, whether south down Mississippi or east a couple of miles to the Alberta Ave neighborhood, both of which have lots of eating and shopping options. The bus runs directly in front of the house into downtown Portland, or a ten-minute walk west gets you to the tram line.
Overall a good home to consider in Mississippi District. Great space(s) for a large party but you’re limited to one parking space. Something worth noting- you’ll be asked to strip the beds and start a load of laundry upon checkout. I didn’t like this considering the cleaning fee. Also the refundable deposit is very high, which triggers me to not want to touch a bunch of stuff. We were worried about starting a load of laundry and leaving it unattended. Ultimately all was okay and our deposit was refunded. As well (this is obvious in rental description), the house behind Front Break is really close. If it is rented as well just know that privacy for both parties will be very limited.
The home is beautiful, owners are friendly and easy to communicate with. There is clearly a lot of love and work that went into re doing this space. It's walking distance to all kinds of fun stuff!! Restaurants, bars, parks, etc! It is comfortable, has everything needed for cooking, enjoying the outdoor space. Ample towels, sheets, and toiletries. Very thoughtfully and tastefully appointed. So happy to have stayed here!
We really enjoyed staying in the Mississippi District. Walk out the door and Albina Press coffee shop is at the corner. Walk two blocks the other way and find Proust and the food court. We had a lot of fun and were very comfortable here. All set up for our newest family member (10 month old) to visit. Easy access and parking. We would stay there again.
