A stay at El Alameda is a unique living history experience youwill treasure forever.

“Absolutely perfect!” - Eric, 5-Star Review

El Alameda is a true landmark, once owned by renowned crooner and Hollywood legend Bing Crosby, and playground of the rich and famous for nearly one hundred years. The expansive three-casita home was built in 1934 in the city’s Movie Colony neighborhood, the Palm Springs magnet for Tinseltown’s elite who were seeking complete respite and relaxation.

A stay at El Alameda is genuinely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The hacienda is a total commitment to the original 1930s aesthetic, featuring vintage art, rugs, and furnishings that are both comfortable and authentic. The furniture, hardware, décor…the vibe. All of it is period. Yet the home offers the luxurious appointments discerning travelers seek, making it the perfect blend of modern and meaningful.

The 3,200-square-foot hacienda has been meticulously and lovingly restored, and it perfectly balances togetherness and privacy, making it ideal for groups and families seeking both large communal spaces and retreats for more intimacy.

Center stage is the sparkling - heated! - azure pool. Beautifully redecked and nestled among palm trees and prolific lemon, orange, and grapefruit trees, there’s an abundance of lounges and seating for your group, umbrellas to temper the sunshine, and a propane BBQ grill. Just inside the adjacent private cantina is full wet bar with ice maker and everything you need to get things swinging. You can almost hear the echoes of movie starlets clinking Champagne glasses on the pool steps while dapper leading men sipped Old Fashions as they drifted between conversations.

The bedrooms are spacious, offer plenty of privacy, and the bedding and linens are plush, soft, and delightful. Three bedrooms offer direct access to the pool, typical of the neighborhood’s architectural style. Two of the casitas have flat screen televisions equipped with Apple TV, and all three have alarm clock radios with USB ports.

El Alameda features a newly designed chef’s kitchen with gas stove, two ovens, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, expansive countertops, and all the modern cooking accoutrements necessary to keep your crew fed and happy. The adjacent dining area has a gorgeous elongated solid wood table with bench seats and leather chairs, and a wall of French doors open to the pool and yard for a communal al fresco dining sensation.

Style meets comfort throughout the hacienda. You’ll enjoy lush manicured grounds, vaulted ceilings, wood-burning living room fireplace, original tile floors, central heat and air, clothes washer and dryer, and more. And be sure to give the Wurlitzer a whirl!

Ready to immerse yourself further into the Hollywood experience Host your own premiere night and watch movies in the beautiful screening room on the impressive 8-by-15-foot screen. There’s a 2K projector with surround sound and Blu-ray, Apple TV, and the complete Criterion Collection of classic films available for your viewing pleasure, plus comfy seating for nine. Make a few bowls of popcorn and indulge.

Born of the “2 Hour Rule” - the common movie studio contract stipulation that stars had to be within 2 hours of the production lot - the drive time from Burbank made the Movie Colony an ideal escape for Hollywood’s leading ladies and gentlemen. Today, this lovely neighborhood is the heart of central Palm Springs, close to hip intimate restaurants, cafes, bars, night clubs, shopping, and Ruth Hardy Park with its sprawling field, children’s playground, and lighted tennis courts.

While El Alameda is close to the action, the hacienda offers the privacy and seclusion it has been renowned for throughout its storied Hollywood history. And the view of the nearby San Jacinto Mountains at sunset…magnificent!
