This charming Taos adobe overlooks the Ranchos Valley from a private site 1.5 miles from the intersection of Taos's main street - Highway 68/Paseo del Pueblo Sur - and Highway 518, the High Road to Santa Fe. The home's 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths can easily accommodate six and will transport you to another place in time.

Nestled into the hillside, this historic home provides classic New Mexico elements - vigas, saltillo tile, wood floors, 3 kiva fireplaces (decorative only), and several native stone terraced berms, patios and overlooks. It has been extensively renovated with in-floor radiant heat, new windows, kitchen and baths. It combines the ambiance of authentic adobe architecture and culture with modern comfort and convenience. Occupied for decades by acclaimed Taos artists Barbara Latham and Howard Cook, this home evokes feelings of relaxation, peace and creativity.

Sleeping in an true adobe home with feet thick walls, viewing moon and stars free of city lights, sipping morning coffee while watching horses graze and listening to the tumble of water in the Rio Chiquito will soothe the psyche.

The Master Bedroom has a California King bed and en suite bath. The 2nd bedroom has a queen sized bed and en suite bath. The 3rd bedroom has a full sized bed and adjacent private bath. There is Internet, wifi and two smart TV's for streaming.

What sets this house apart is its special perch on a ridge that overlooks the agricultural Ranchos de Taos Valley. The valley connects two of Taos's original settlements - Talpa on the north and Llano Quemado on the south. This area was home to many of Taos' reknowned modern artists during the 1940's, 50's and 60's. The working landscape provides a restful contrast to urban life and timeless subject matter for Taos artists: diagonally plowed fields, pastured horses, fall hay bales and rustling cottonwoods. The Picuris Mountains draw the gaze up from the green valley floor to the blues and purples of mountain and sky.

The setting is both quiet and private, removed from the road, but with easy access into Taos and the Ski Valley to the north, or to the Sipapu Ski Area due south, along with Penasco, Trampas, Truchas, Chimayo, and other High Road destinations. A short 5 minute drive south delivers you to several good hiking and cultural destinations - including well marked and sparsely traveled Forest Service roads and the Pot Creek cultural site with ancient Anasazi settlement remains and interpretive paths.

The dirt road traversing the valley below, Camino de Abejo de la Loma to Valerio, provides a lovely walk to the historic Ranchos de Taos plaza, where one can explore the iconic San Franciso de Asis Mission Church, galleries and restaurants including Old Martina’s (modern Euro-American cuisine), the Ranchos Grill (traditional New Mexican breakfast and lunch plates), the Garden Coffee Shop and the acclaimed Trading Post.

This home's interior and exterior beauty set an inviting stage for retreat, inspiration, romance or adventure.

It's a fantastic property, three bedrooms, three full bathrooms, large living/dining space, cozy kitchen. The yard is the highlight, multiple spots to sit and relax and appreciate the beauty of the valley below. For us it was a perfect spot to start our adventures in Taos and the surrounding areas.

The house and property were lovely! If you want to stay a bit out of town, this is a great location with beautiful views of the mountains. It was extremely well-equipped, comfortable, and very homey. Very clean and well taken care of. Super comfortable beds and high-quality linens. Very, very quiet. Loved it and highly recommend!

A lovingly decorated historic abode overlooking a breathtaking view of the mountain and New Mexico style landscaped garden. The hostess was incredibly helpful and the house was well set up for four guests. It could fit up to 6 easily. The beds, sheets and pillows were so comfortable. We used the kitchen to make meals and felt it was well equipped. Lots of cozy seating areas inside and outside. Stores and restaurants a short drive away. A special place!

Stayed with my brother and sister for a sibling trip. We all agreed that Meredith’s home was probably the best vacation rental we’d ever experienced. It was clean. It was beautiful. It had everything we needed. It was secluded but still close enough to town. Meredith was very responsive we I had questions. The check-in process was easy. The check-out process was also easy. If I ever get back to the Taos area, I’d like to stay at her place! If you’re wondering whether to book it, just do it. You won’t regret it! Last photo is of the clear sky and the lovely view of the stars from the porch.

The home is as described with a rich history. It was close to town, but quiet, with plenty of room for a family. Meredith was very responsive to our questions, and provided everything we needed to eat at home, and suggestions for local places to eat. We would stay here again.

Wonderful, historic house. We spent 9 days and nights at the property. It was fantastic. We have been to Taos many times and hope that we can return, again. If so, I really, really hope that the house is available.

Our adult kids joined us for a short, adventurous stay in Taos. It was so nice to spend relaxing evenings in this historic adobe after busy days of hiking and rafting. It was nice to be so close to the center of town with the advantage of quiet remove and great views.

Beautiful, historic property in a great location. We especially enjoyed the owner's tasteful decor, which further showed off the authentic pueblo walls and finishes. One tiny warning: Be careful turning on the main bathroom faucet or it will splash you with water. Not a big deal--we got used to it! The owner really went the extra mile to include information on the house and to leave plenty of reading material on historic Taos.

What a beautiful home! With 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, it was the perfect headquarters for five of us, in Taos for our son's wedding. It was a convenient location for trips to Taos and to the wedding venue located to the south. Meredith is a thoughtful host, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

My friends and I had an absolutely amazing stay. The house was so comfortable and welcoming. There are three rooms two with attached bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable and there are plenty of towels in the bathrooms. The kitchen though small is very comfortable to cook in. The dining and living room make hanging out very convenient.we would definitely visit again.

We stayed for 4 nights over Spring Break in March. It is our 3rd straight year visiting the area and skiing at Sipapu. I cannot express strongly enough how great we felt about this property. The pictures make it look nice, but do not truly do the house justice. It is a fully renovated VERY old adobe that has loads of character and historic charm, but not at the expense of comfort in any way. The location is also fantastic. It is on 518 very close to 68 which leads right into the heart of town, so it is a very short drive to groceries, food, sights, etc. but also has more privacy and nature that being in the middle of town. Something we could not really tell from the listing is that it is situated on a ridge with beautiful mountain views from the patio and the living room. There are 3 full bathrooms which was really helpful for our group of 5. The primary bedroom is massive. The other bedrooms are located in a way that there is lots of privacy and there are no shared walls. The furniture is all nice and functional. The host also has lots of interesting, original local art throughout the property. Another very positive feature was that because the house is adobe, it seemed very well insulated and we never felt too cold even though it was in the 20's outside. We've stayed at a house in the area that was too cold, so this was noticeably different. We really enjoyed staying here and would love to go back on our next trip to the area.

Best ever stay of anywhere! We stayed on the 1st floor and let the kids have the master and other bedrooms because of the stairs involved. They thought they’d died and gone to heaven!

If you wish to step away from hotels and have a more authentic Taos experience, this is the place to go. The view is fabulous. The house itself has all the warmth and charm of the old adobes. Although, you would never suspect its age, everything is very updated. The owner does an excellent job explaining how everything in the place works. That is always helpful. And I hope any future resident is able to find the time to explore the coffee table books. They further the Taos experience.

A beautiful home and wonderful visit for our family. The house is very visitor friendly. We appreciated the house being so well stocked, instructions for appliances and such being so clear, and the insightful info provided on both the area and the history of the house itself. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

I cant say enough about this property! It was perfect for our home away from home stay. The square footage is perfect with plenty of private bedroom/bathroom space and the living area is perfect for gathering and enjoying the spectacular view. The space is clean, the climate was very comfortable, and I cannot wait to get back to thay exact same spot! We highly recommend!
