Historic Swedish Cottage on Quiet Lindstrom Lake

Great stay, beautiful views, comfortable. and clean.

We absolutely LOVED our stay in Lindstrom. It was the cutest house with so much room and the perfect walking distance to the cute town and shops. The house had such cute charm and it was the perfect weekend get away! Will for sure be coming back!

The house has a lot of space, so worked well for our extended family. And the location was perfect for our needs. Host was great! His communication was very responsive and accommodating. The vintage character of the house was fun! Although an old house does have quirks- main floor windows do not open and refrigerator did not cool properly. We really enjoyed our stay!

The host was amazing. The place was perfect, the views out window while at the kitchen island are amazing. Plenty of space and lots of items available that you may have “forgotten”. Back deck was great, spotted several otters! Location is ideal and I highly recommend the Northwinds coffee shop, it was some of the best coffee.

Another exceptional stay for New Years! So happy to have found such a wonderful place!

The host is very quick to respond to any questions we have. The place is a nice fit for our family ladies deer hunting widows weekend. This was our 4th year here.

Jim’s house worked great for a few of us to stay on a family wedding weekend. Jim was very responsive before and during our stay. The home itself has plenty of room to spread out (there were 8 of us one night and 10 of us the second night). The exterior of the home needs attention and yard maintenance and upkeep. Kitchen is very well stocked.

The kitchen was well equipped and clean. We cooked during our stay and it had everything we needed. I loved that the owners labeled each drawer and cupboard with contents so items were easily located. The dining room table was large enough to seat all 6 of us comfortably. The house was large and provided us with plenty of space to separate for a bit of quiet time; and it stayed cozy for an old house even tho it was chilly during our fall days. We love old houses and appreciated its history so we easily embraced it for what it was. However; if you’re looking for a more modern stay, this may not be for you. Overall the house was clean, but there were areas that needed more attention (a fresh coat of paint), like the walls and railing going up the stairs to the bedrooms. All in all. We were happy with our stay, but feel that the living room and great room furniture needed to be replaced. The beds were comfortable but new/fresh comforters would have elevated those rooms immensely.

Liked the fence yard but it was all dirt and no grass. But it worked fine for our dogs. Nice TV area, good kitchen and beds were comfortable. Plenty of room.

Property was nice but more run down than pictures led us to believe. Outside deck was wonderful and we spent a lot of time there but could have used some cleaning - outside railing coming out of house had a significant build up of dirt and grime. Bathrooms and kitchen were very nice but we ran out of paper towels and toilet paper. Overall, property has some very nice features but probably needs a little more attention to outside upkeep.

This house is absolutely beautiful! There was plenty of room for all of us, and we really enjoyed our time there. It was also an excellent location, because we could use the lake, and there was also a playground kitty corner from the house for our grandchildren.

Yard needs major tlc...walls and carpets were very dirty upstairs. Return vents were covered in dust.

The house was clean spacious and well stocked. The only reason I didn't give a five was because the landscaping and outside of house needed some upkeep and repairs.

House was welcoming, comfortable, and well stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. The layout fitted or our multi-family weekend get-a-away perfectly. The owner was available and responsive. It was a really nice and relaxing stay.

We loved the house, the lake views, and the town of Lindstrom. The fresh flowers in the kitchen were a delightful touch.

Queen to king size beds in individual bedrooms. Option to use inflatable Queen mattress.

We were in town for a wedding at Abella. This property was 12 minutes away from the venue and worked perfectly for us. Property owner Jim was quick to respond to all of our inquiries and worked with us for all our needs. Awesome to have all our family stay together during our family wedding weekend. Would highly recommend!

Inside of the home was very clean and roomy for our large group of 11. Outside of home needs a lot of attention, realizing the home is old I understand, but the ferns upfront are overgrown. Shoreline is a mess with overgrown weeds and trees. better change your outside pics of the place. overall a very nice stay.

Beautiful property; perfect for a group get together. Only hiccup was I was never sent the code to get in the door but thankfully they have a ring doorbell and were able to let us in. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect place to stay for a family of 10, spanning 60 years of age difference. While there were little things here and there that could use a little touch up or update, we all left feeling we chose the exact right place.The house was very quiet, especially as we all went to our own rooms, we couldn’t hear anyone else in the place. There was tons of seating. Nothing felt cramped. A couple nice shops in the area and a very peaceful lake atmosphere.

Very homey, open spaces in home for a group to be together. Easy walk to interesting shops. Felt safe to take walks in. Beautiful lake side location.

Jim was responsive with problems. Place is looking a little run down. Could use a face lift but it's still a charming home too share with family. Thank you!

5 friends booked this house for a winter weekend getaway. It was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we could need to cook. Reasonably clean but there are areas that could use a deep clean, fresh coats of paint, etc. We appreciated the care around avoiding, for the most part, scented cleaning and laundry soaps and two of us have fragrance sensitivities. It was the coldest weekend in January with temps regularly below zero. When I arrived at the house it was quite cold (understandably, as it had not been occupied) and I immediately found the thermostats to try to warm it up. After a period of time it became evident that the upstairs furnace (there are two hvac systems) was not working. The host called a heating tech who arrived quickly - but was unable to fix the problem. The heating tech returned with a few space heaters. We then went hunting for extra blankets (they’re in a basket in the family/sun room) One bedroom couldn’t utilize a space heater as it triggered the smoke alarm. The first night was ok with a space heater helping the upstairs temps and some heat from below rising. The second night the space heater at some point tripped a circuit and we woke up to a very chilly morning. During all of this the host was very responsive - until I asked for a reduction in the rental fee. Then radio silence for more than 24 hours. Still no decision 5 days later.

We had a wonderful time at Friedhem being able to spend time with family during a challenging time with my husband's health issues. It was great to be close to downtown Lindstrom and walk through town during our stay. I was able to get to Mass on foot on Christmas Eve. It was a beautiful night and we felt safe. We keep talking about the wonderful memories that were made. We were plenty warm and had more than enough space in the home to spread out. Thank you for a memorable Christmas celebration at The House of Peace!!

This property is everything and a bag of chips! Jim is a fantastic host - excellent communication! More than enough room to accommodate our entire group and pets extremely comfortably! We had such a fabulous time we booked our next stay as soon as we got home!!

We froze. I sent an email to the owner for help with the heat situation and never heard back. We literally could not keep the house warm and my grand babies were so cold they became sick and had to leave. Every room was cold and the thermostats warmed some rooms to a point where sweatshirts and blankets were enough, but the upstairs was frigid. You may want to consider baby proofing options for families and perhaps a few upgrades to furnishings and beds. Thanks for the opportunity.

We have stayed here 3 years in a row during opening of MN deer hunting. We love doing crafts together, making our dinners, the craft fair, and the shops!

We had a wonderful time! It looked a little different then the pictures but it was still nice. It is old but has charm. Very clean and there is alot of room. Perfect for a big gathering. Great communication with the property manager as well.

As parents of the bride, this was a great house and location for our family to stay and organize for the weekend. Plenty of big, open spaces for people to gather but then have their own bedroom and bathroom for getting ready.

Kitchen was nice and updated, but a little small. The house was a little dated but clean. The yard was muddy after the rain since there wasn’t much grass. I think it was a little expensive compared to other properties near Chisago City that had newer amenities

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your expansive home. Plenty of room to sleep and for quiet time. Kitchen was well stocked. We were hoping for a larger/sandy beach for the kids to swim, but found a couple of very beautiful ones close by with parks. Love the walking distance proximity to town. The fenced-in area for the dog was great. Lovely, private setting.

We had grandparents to grandchildren stay at this house and it was a nice, big space to gather and enjoy meals and time together, while also having separate sleeping wings for each family! Loved the charm of the older home and walkability to the park nearby, and how close it was to the City. Only drawback was the backyard and steps down to the dock - not for the elderly set or handicapped, but the cantilevered deck overlooking the lake was nice. Thank you for a wonderful time and lifelong memories!

We enjoyed our week immensely! We were all over retirement age with several recent hip replacements, but it worked for us just great! Nice patio overlooking the lake and nice weather that allowed us to enjoy it
