Historic Schoolhouse, Modern Retreat

Everything was perfect!

My family stayed over the Christmas holiday. This property was big enough to accommodate our large group but yet give us space to spread out. It is a unique experience staying in the schoolhouse. I wasn't quite sure what to expect at first but was very happy with everything . The host and check in were great!

We had a party of 10 who come to Manhattan each year for a K-State football game. The schoolhouse was perfect for the size of our group. The kitchen and living areas are sizable and open and very comfortable for several people. The kitchen is well stocked with coffee makers, dishware, pots & pans, glassware, etc. We cooked breakfast there each morning and the space allowed the cooks to easily make preparations. All rooms were very clean; beds were comfortable. Jan was easy to work with and very responsive. Do note that there are alot of stairs - inside and out - so if you have mobility issues it could be a problem.

We have stayed at the School House 3 times, and we will definitely be back again. Great place for large groups, close to Manhattan, and still has a secluded feel.

Love the size and the open living room and kitchen, super clean and friendly! We enjoyed Keats Park, the fire pit, and grill.

We just finished a family get together for the weekend of Homecoming at K-State. The place is wonderfully designed. Kitchen was beautiful and was well equipped. It was amazing how big the space is, but felt so homey! Very very clean!! Everyone was wonderful to work with. We'll definitely be coming back again.

This property was exactly what we’re were looking for to host my moms 80th birthday. The room offered and the spaces inside were perfect for our event. Spacious living areas and bedrooms were perfect. We loved the historical architecture that was maintained and gave the house character and grandeur. Our host and property manager were wonderful to work with. However, the outside was atrocious. Knee high grass, unkept flower beds and the trash was not removed prior to our arrival made it less than favorable. Upon arrival I actually drove past the property not recognizing it due to the lack of care for the lawn and beds which were over grown. We had 70-90 year old guests and young children that had to trample through the grass making it hazardous and our plans for outside games impossible. We were very disappointed by this and I feel deceived by the property owner. As a side note, this house is not in any way ADA compliant as there are many stairs to get in and out of the house. This was not a consideration when we rented but just wanted to mention it. This being my first time rental experience I am questioning doing it again. I can say that after complaining to the host they came to mow and remove the trash the day before we left but that was too little to late. I wish the owner luck in this endeavor to have a successful business as this really is a wonderful property, but they should not deceive their customers.

Everything was great, just need a dumpster for the trash and a broom.

The BEST VRBO we have ever had! We have been renting VRBO's for 20 years. This place was spotless, the host was wonderful. The experience was beyond our expectations. What a unique experience to be in this location. I will definitely return as soon as I have an occasion to rent in the area.
