I rented this house as a halfway meeting point for our family to get together to celebrate my husbands retirement. The most outstanding thing was how over the top all those helping with our plans at St. Albans were. From Datra who is the house manager, to Petiri and Sophie who helped with check-in and all our particular plans. To Schuyler who got the guys t-times. To Linda the manager at the St. Albans country club. All were especially kind, friendly and helpful. The house is beautiful and the the views amazing. The few downsides were that the kitchen was on the lower level and taking the spiral stairs up and down 1 or 2 flights was a bit hard on some of our old knees. Also, that the pool room is separate. The layout of the place is not clear on the website. But again we all had a wonderful time! Hope to return again. Thanks, Linda
I spent a long weekend here with some friends and just had a fantastic time. Patio views are fantastic looking over the vineyard, golf course and river valley. Great layout for group gatherings as well as private places to get away. Very warm historic feel to the Inn. Golf at St. Albans is also a must do for golfers. We were also fortunate enough to have dinner down at the Old Barn Inn. Must Do!
Simply put - an outstanding venue to spend a vacation. The accommodations were spacious, the amenities were superb and the views were spectacular! We spent and extend golf weekend (Thurs thru Sun) and the property manager was very helpful throughout our stay. Looking forward to another visit!
This house is amazing! Our family felt like royalty. The area, known as St. Albans has a lake, a country club that you can use including 36 holes of golf, walking paths and a general store. The host was great and the home is behind gates so your stay is both private and relaxing. Sweeping views of the new vineyard and Missouri River look like something out of a movie. We will be back!
We rented the entire house for a week. The house is historic, beautiful with updated bathrooms and kitchen. We invited our friends to stay with us. There are plenty rooms in this house for us to spread out and also get together. There is a convenient store nearby and it's easy to drive to grocery stores in the community. The views are fabulous in this area. We had a great time. However, here is the hassle I have had to deal with in the past half a year, which is really frustrating for me and has completely tainted my view of this house. As a responsible human being who likes to have peace of mind, especially on vacation, I purchased the travel insurance Homeaway provided in case anything happened. Unfortunately, we did have an incident and broke a porcelain fishbowl (or furniture vase) during our stay. We reported to the manager and provided the insurance details such that the vase could be replaced. However, when the insurance company tried to obtain the necessary documents from the house to get the official price to pay for the vase they were met with continued refusal to provide the relevant information. This involved numerous calls and emails from both my insurance company and me, but we never got the needed documents from the manager of the house. As a result of the broken vase they refused to return my deposit even though we made many efforts to get it replaced through my insurance and only failed to do so due to their incompetence. Overall, I do not think this house is ready for any customs want to try to have a relaxed vacation, despite the beauty of the place.
We rented the entire house for a week and couldn't have been happier. Our adult children all brought their families and we had tons of room to spread out and enjoy our time together. I always enjoy staying in a historic home and the renovations have preserved the charm while still having high quality updated bathrooms and kitchen. The views are fabulous and we ate outside regularly to enjoy them. When friends saw the house and views in our vacation photos, they asked if we went to Europe! Only one minor drawback- limited internet but we weren't there to stare at screens but of the fantastic view! It was no problem driving into St. Louis to enjoy a ballgame, the zoo and the amazing rock climbing gym, Climb So Ill. Thanks for sharing the house with us.
Very good the best of everything. Like living with the Rich and Famous as one guest said. Would love go back. We had a wonderful time with all our family.
