Terre Hill, Pennsylvania
Spacious Sisters House is perfect for families or girlfriends getaways.
Amish buggies clip-clop past on the road, and chimes can be heard from a nearby church. This historic structure once housed a cigar factory - and the decor reflects those by-gone days. Modern amenities are included in DVD's, TVs with Roku and Netflix, WI-FI, Dream Machines, dishwasher, washer/dryer, central A/C. The upstairs bathroom includes a one-person Jacuzzi tub.
There is easy access to the first floor queen bedroom and full bathroom with walk-in shower - great for folks that don't want to deal with stairs. Two more bedrooms are upstairs - one has a king bed and the other a queen.
The sunroom overlooks the Weaverland Valley - some of the richest farmland in Lancaster County, The Sisters House sits on a dead-end road, adjacent to the flower gardens of The Artist's Inn. A short walk will take you to the town park that includes tennis courts, basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, picnic areas and plenty of space for kite-flying.
Kitchen comes complete with your first breakfast and includes home-baked goodies from the inn and a full cookie jar. This vacation rental uses green energy - solar panels on the roof provide the electricity for the Sophie portion of this historic 200 year old structure.
Enjoy the outside as well - there is plenty of room for gathering in the covered porch. You'll find lots of seating and a hammock. You are also welcome to use the adjoining firepit area that belongs to The Arti'st's Inn - our bed and breakfast.
Terre Hill is surrounded by farms, so fresh produce is nearby. There's an organic cheese maker just down the street and Shady Maple's Farmers Market and Smorgasbord is just three miles away.
The quaint little town of Adamstown is just a ten minute drive - known as The Antiques Capital of the USA.
Bring your walking shoes and bicycles...there are nearby trails, hikes and our back roads invite you to explore on your own.
Great experience, will do it again. Very neat and clean and provided breakfast food.
Well kept. Great place. No complaints whatsoever. Look forward to returning someday.
The house was very clean and all prepared for us to stay. Home baked apple cake and breakfast were prepared. It was delicious!! We were visiting a farm and Amish stores. All were in 10-25 min distance and good ride for us especially with the beautiful scenery. Bruce was very friendly and we would like to come back someday!
The Sophie cottage was beautiful. It Was very peaceful and had everything we needed. The breakfast food there was a very nice touch along with the delicious cookies and Brownies. The host thought of everything. We never needed to contact them while there which was great but also would have loved to Meet them. It was nice to come back to a quiet setting. The diner downtown was Nice as was the pizza place. Everyone in town so pleasant. It was a nice weekend For myself and My daughter. Thank you Jan and Bruce
The house was immaculate. In addition, the owners provided extras, such as homemade snacks and cookies and breakfast items for the next day. There was a washer and dryer, which would have been nice if we needed it.. They pretty much thought of everything and the stay very nice. There is also a quaint diner around the corner, which was a lot of fun. Highly recommend this property.
We spent a week here. This is a beautiful property in a nice quiet and convenient location. It's in a very small town, but close to pretty much anything you might care to do in the general vicinity (30 minutes or less). The property is very well kept - clean and well stocked (including with edible goodies, which is a very nice touch). We spent most of our time on the 4-season porch when we weren't out somewhere. It's bright and breezy, with HVAC when needed. There are 2 restaurants within a quarter mile walk - a diner/comfort food restaurant with a great menu and better service, and small pizza place which served up an amazing pizza. This property is definitely recommended and we'd stay here again.
Beautiful location and inn keepers Bruce and Jan are the best. They went out of their way to make sure our visit was spectacular. We definitely would recommend this place as an ideal vacation spot.
We LOVED….Everything!!!!!
I can't say enough good things about the beds. Not sure where they get the sheets, but...HEAVEN!! There is everything you need in the kitchen. They even left some breakfast items, though we didn't do much cooking. The town is quaint and there is a wonderful family restaurant a few doors down. We were able to work with Jan to extend our stay another day. That was greatly appreciated. We were able to attend Terre Hill Days at the nearby park. A wonderful place to stay.
Great property for relaxing with our family ladies. Hosts were lovely, easy to reach, helpful about the area. Highly recommend!
We had a very relaxing visit. We loved that there were multiple spaces to rest and relax. Including when it got very warm the ability to still sit in the sun room with the air conditioner. There were multiple welcoming touches to make us feel at home and we would definitely stay again if we are in the area.
Relaxing and alot to see
We stayed in the Sophie side of the Sisters House. It was perfect for a long weekend getaway for my sister and me — away from the tourist frenzy yet close enough to visit Shady Maple one day, Bird in Hand the next. The hosts provide breakfast ingredients and a full cookie jar. What a nice gesture and a sweet touch. There is a sun room, where we set up our jigsaw puzzle. Washer & dryer in downstairs bath. Everything we needed was provided (and then some.). You can indeed hear horses clip-clopping as the buggies travel by. The hosts keep things simple and are extremely responsive. We had a great stay and hope to go back. Thank you, Jan and Bruce.
We had a wonderful visit! The home is lovely and cozy. We loved having coffee in the sunroom. Close by to many attractions and dining. House was clean and fully stocked with everything you needed. Hosts are wonderful and very thoughtful with leaving goodies to snack on and a full breakfast to make. Thank you, again! - The Dill's
We enjoyed the indoor and outdoor spaces that are part of this property. Lovely comfortable beds. Lots of food to make a big country breakfast. We even liked taking the backroads to come and go to wineries, farm markets and shopping.
Great place, great atmosphere, great location!
We wanted a short trip to celebrate out 25th anniversary. House was beautiful and located in a nice small quiet town. Cookies that they prepared for us was delicious. Perfect location for shopping and meals.
The property was beautiful. The owners were amazing. I would highly recommend to stay at this home. Terre Hill is such a nice community. The home had everything needed for a relaxing family vacation.
This is the 2nd time my husband and I have stayed at the Sister’s House. This visit was just as enjoyable as our first visit. Peaceful, relaxing. Spent lots of time on the sun porch and enjoyed all the wonderful goodies! Jan and Bruce are wonderful hosts and we will visit again!
From beginning to end this is one of the best properties we have used on VRBO. We arrived to fresh cookies, brownies, eggs, sausage, milk, juice and coffee all waiting for us! Amazing! Such a special touch especially after traveling for 12 hours and battling the airports! The property has good beds, nice sheets, excellent air conditioning and ceiling fans. The bathrooms are well stocked with plenty of towels and sundries. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and then some. Often kitchen are short of dishes, not this kitchen. Lots of cups, dishes, silverware, etc. Very well outfitted. There is also plenty of parking right out front to make it easy to come and go. Jan and Bruce were right there immediately to help with any needs we had. I can't imagine anyone ever being disappointed with a stay in this charming place!
Out experience was fabulous!!
We traveled with our son and his fiancé. This was perfect. We could all have our own rooms , yet still be together and hang out on the gorgeous sunroom and outdoor patio. Bruce was so kind and it a nice treat to have breakfast supplies for the morning. We arrived after 8 pm and didn’t know where there was an open grocery. Highly recommend
