Historic Petunia Cottage: Large Renovated Victorian Excellent In-town Location

The perfect location!Home away from home! The coolest cottage with space for everyone. We felt like we were living back in the day!!Walking to Bar Island at low tide, rocking on the front porch and eating breakfast at Jordan’s just around the corner…that’s a perfect week to us. Did I mention the best stocked Vrbo home we have ever rented!Grocery next to Jordan’s restaurant was a plus. We only moved our car to hike and bike (free parking in the driveway). Thank you for sharing your home with us. We really loved staying here.

House and location are terrific …if you need ice stop at Hannafords on way to house…only quirk was 5pm check in with a 9am check out

We had an amazing stay at Petunia Cottage. The house accommodated our group of 14 very well. Good bed set up and the living and dining spaces are huge. Location was perfect - short walk to everything in town and just a block to the grocery store. Everyone loved being so close to the Bar Island trail - the kids went down to explore every day. And it was about a mile bike ride to get to the carriage trails (nice to have a garage to store bikes and not worrying about locking up too). Would love to come back!!

The house was as beautiful and convenient as others have mentioned. Ours was a family reunion ages 75yr to 3yrs. We cooked both indoors and out on the grill. Ample outdoor picnic table and porch table for everyone. All the rooms are comfortable and nicely furnished. The kids loved the “kid room” with 3 beds. There were also plenty of quiet spaces for work or just napping.Some favorites: renting e-bikes and riding on the carriage trails, hiking particularly Cadillac & Beehive. Beautiful kid friendly beach at Echo Lake, Reel Pizza movie theatre.

We had a wonderful two-week stay with various ages, including an infant, toddler, and a few 70+. Given the ages of our visitors, the home was perfectly located for easy walking trips to the sandbar, restaurants, the town park, and other town amenities. It was also a short drive / long walk to Acadia. The downstairs setup was spacious and offered plenty of room for the kids (and adults) to play. Upstairs had plenty of bedrooms with different setups that worked out well for our family. The front porch was also great for relaxing, people watching, and a bit of a water view. The property was well appointed and clean, and our mid-stay cleaning was much appreciated. Communication with the host was also easy. Thanks so much!

We chose the house for ease of walking around in and around Bar Harbor. It was lovely. The house is historic and quirky, but comfortable and great for a group. The front porch was a highlight with comfortable rockers. Close to the action but quite quiet in the evening. Beautiful kitchen -- great for our group of 12. We definitely appreciated the off street parking after watching the street parking derby from the porch. I will say it's worth checking into what days cruise ships may be visiting Bar Harbor and planning activities elsewhere those days. It's pretty overwhelming -- really way too many people for the small center of town. I hope for the residents' sakes that some local spending happens b/c otherwise the pain of the numbers wouldn't be worth it at all. Loved the hiking and exploring -- altogether great trip.

We loved being with our family at this beautiful house. Great location

Our family of 15 stayed at Petunia Cottage and celebrated a special anniversary. The house was beautiful and a great location near the tidal path and also close to downtown stores and restaurants. The location was wonderful for exploring Acadia National Park, which we did 4 times in one week! There is a free shuttle to Acadia that leaves from the Village Green. Our family age range was between 4 years and 74 years. All were happy with the house and location! The big kitchen and countertops made eating and cooking a breeze. The one suggestion is to place a pad under the carpet in the living room to keep it from bunching and slipping. It was easy to trip over it.

This was our second stay at Petunia Cottage, and it was just as wonderful as the first! Fantastic old house with character and a location that can't be beat. Best part might be the large porch with many rocking chairs ... where we started and ended every day! We're already looking forward to our next visit!

Petunia Cottage was perfect for our multi-family reunion. The variety of bedrooms accommodated singles, couples, a family with teens and a family with three under five. There were plenty of nicely remodeled bathrooms, a terrific gathering-place kitchen, and a generous living room/billiard room space. A wrap around front porch with rocking chairs was a favorite. To top it off, Petunia Cottage is in the best location: on a quieter street, a block off Cottage St with its shops, restaurants and a well stocked grocery store. The owners paid particular attention to stocking the house with all the necessities needed for a week’s stay….including two sets of high-end washer/dryers! We highly recommend Petunia Cottage!!

Great location. Lots of room to spread out and great access to everything. Two washers/dryers were a bonus for our large group. Very enjoyable experience.
