Racine, Wisconsin
Welcome to the lake! We have the ultimate family vacation destination in SE Wisconsin. If you are a family of 4-6, looking for a great, relaxing, low-tech vacation location, we hope you'll think about staying at our place.
Located in Racine, Wisconsin, on the shores of scenic Lake Michigan. Right across the street from North Beach, a top-4 freshwater beach in the Midwest, according to USA Today. This three-bedroom home originally built in 1837 has a lot of character and charm. Originally the Bucket of Blood Tavern on Main Street, the building was moved to Michigan Blvd in the late 1800s and turned into a residence by a British Naval Captain. Some say Abe Lincoln may have visited while it was a tavern, believe it or not!
The building has been renovated many times since then, but still retains some old features, like the (now decorative) wood burning stove and chimney in the living room - and a creepy basement if you're into that sort of thing. Otherwise, the home has been completely modernized and is very comfortable for groups of up to 6 people. We keep it low-tech, so there is no television screen, but we do have Wi-Fi if you bring your own devices, and there are plenty of games and books to have some good old-fashioned family fun time.
Three bedrooms with comfortable sleeping for six, includes one queen, one full, and a twin daybed with trundle. The views are stunning - you can enjoy lake views from the front porch and upper deck off the master bedroom. It is amazing to relax outside or in for a few days. We love this home and wanted to make it available for a select few to discover our part of Wisconsin.
We are located 4 short blocks from the Racine Zoo. A quaint, family friendly, very clean, social gathering spot. Also on the shores of Lake Michigan, it is the location of the Animal Crackers concert series, bi-weekly Wednesday night free music performances during the summer. It is also the site of the Annual Car, Truck and Bike Show.
Spend a few days or a summer week lounging on the beach during the day, letting the kids play on the life-guarded beach. Get out on the water with your boat or take a fishing excursion out on the lake. Bring your bikes to ride along the lakefront bike path and check out some live music down at the beach Oasis.
For baseball fans, we are within 30 miles of Miller Park and only 75 miles to Wrigley Field in Chicago. Either one is a short day trip. In the evenings you can explore the nearby local restaurants and several new and established brewpubs. We can provide suggestions and let you know about our favorite spots.
This is our second home and we enjoy sharing with family and friends. Strict occupancy limit applies. We do not allow parties which would harm the property and irritate the neighbors. If you are a responsible adult with a family and want to enjoy this property, we'll welcome you. Please send me an email with any questions, and I'll respond promptly.
Amazing property. Very comfortable with everything you need. Less than a 5 minute walk to a gorgeous beach. The kitchen is well supplied. Beds are comfy. Totally worth every penny. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed being able to walk down to the beach or sit on the porch and watch the water, and the tennis courts were a quick walk down the street. Lovely vacation home!
Right across the street from a nice beach and near the zoo. The house was nice and had all the essentials for cooking your own meals.
We came in to town for family wedding in Racine. Wonderful home for family gathering, well appointed and across the street from beach! Perfect location and good parking in driveway. Thank you!!
We had a wonderful family vaca! Way more pros than cons. Pros- location is right across from the beach, huge plus with young children (3 under 7)! Slept my family of 5 very comfortably. We loved that it didn’t have a TV, was great for unplugging and spending quality family time. Right near reefpointe marina where we had grandparents living which was so convenient. The homeowner has a fully stocked kitchen and even toiletries if you need them which was soo convenient and kind (3 of my crew forgot toothbrushes ?). Bath towels, beach towels galore. So appreciate this extra touch. Cons- the house desperately needs a deep clean.. for the price we paid I expected it to be very clean so this was the only disappointment I have. On the surface inside it was fine, not great, but fine. However, under couches/corners of rooms, there were cobwebs and we had 3 spider friends in the 4 night stay we were there.. as for the outside, sadly it is not well maintained. Pulling up the house is very dirty and bugs/cobwebs all over the lights and porches. A beehive under the steps to the side door as well where you enter the house. We tended to not enjoy the front porch or upper deck due to the lack of cleanliness which is unfortunate because the view is beautiful. . Needs a good power wash. Overall I would highly recommend this property but think it could be cleaner. We had a wonderful getaway and appreciate you sharing your home with us!
The home was fully stocked, clean and spacious. The location was amazing- right across from the lake, including a concession stand, restrooms and volleyball courts. Lifeguards on duty 10-6. Near the zoo and downtown.
The house is very comfortable and well maintained. A perfect location across from North Beach. We had a great time staying there and would go back again.
Great location, spacious for playing games and sitting together. Very clean, organized, beautiful view. Awesome view, location, and history.
We had a great weekend and the home worked perfectly for two couples with room to spare. Highly recommended. The proximity to the beach was awesome, even on the cool October weather.
What a great location! Place was well kept and the renovation is so nice it's hard to tell it was an older property. The reason you would want to stay here is because the property is literally right next to the beach.
