Hancock, Michigan
A one of a kind built in 1895, historic home. Elevated (hillside) with beautiful woodwork, wood floors, tall ceilings, antique furnishings yet modern kitchen and bath. Private dining room, parlor. Full 3 stories ; main floor living, kitchen, dining; 2nd floor 2 bedrooms and sitting room, and bath, 3rd floor large expansive renovated attic with separate bedroom and sitting area. This is a quiet home with radiator heat, up to date appliances, beautiful views from the enclosed front porch. There is a large unfinished basement with laundry facility, and covered entrance from the basement to the garage. Due to the multiple levels, the house has a lot of staircases to climb so may not be appropriate for those who cannot manage stairs. We also recommend bringing slippers with rubber soles. We have a few extra but we can't match The comfort of your own. The 1 bathroom is very large; has a 6 ft. claw foot tub, and separate shower. We do daily snow removal (after 10 am) and we allow parking in the garage (at your own risk). We make exit and entry simple; through the garage via keypad into a door/tunnel into the basement. We are strict on rules to respect the integrity of the floors and furnishings; no shoes on once inside the home (anything above the basement). We are 5 minutes from downtown Hancock, 5 minutes across the bridge to MTU, 5 minutes to Mt. Ripley. Please be respectful of furnishings (many breakables, and fragile items).
Great historic home in the heart of Hancock. We enjoyed our stay in this unique house that I would highly recommend visiting. Pam was great and quick to follow up with our questions. Very clean and nicely updated while keeping the essence of the house.
We had a great time!
Overall nice place to stay. House was quiet and clean. Recommend owners put some type of traction on the steps going upstairs to prevent anyone from getting hurt. We didn’t have any issues or injuries - thought I’d share feedback on that.
We stayed at this historic home during move-in weekend at MTU. The location could not have been more perfect! Just outside of the hustle in Houghton but close enough to get back to easily. The home itself displays its age (tons of character) but is so very well maintained! Thank you Pamela for allowing us to stay in your home!
Very cool house and Pamela was awesome to work with.!
Very nice property with a short walk to downtown. The house is large with lots of room and the included garage to park on is a bonus. My biggest gripe about the house is that there is no air conditioning which maybe we should have expected for an older home.
We had a great stay in this charming historic house! Helpful friendly hosts and in a great location with a short walk to downtown. We will be back!
We always like staying with Pam. The house was great. I'll be staying with her again in April!
Things we enjoyed... the beautiful old home that retains the gorgeous woodwork of years long past with no lack of expected modern conveniences, the collection of lovely furniture, the toasty radiators, and a great location.
We really enjoyed this place. Location is quick to MTU and to the bike trails, and almost anything you want to do. So many interesting things (art, stones, furniture, etc) to look at in the house. Bed was super comfortable.
