You can add the Guest Cottage and/or the Schoolhouse to your reservation for an additional fee. The Guest Cottage is just a 2-min walk down the grassy hill from the Main Farmhouse. It includes 1 king bedroom, 2 queen bedrooms, and a loft with 3 single beds, and 3 additional full bathrooms. The Schoolhouse has 2 additional bedrooms (1 full bedroom and one loft with 3 twin beds) and no bathroom, so guests will need to share the bathrooms in the Main Farmhouse. GUEST ACCESS:

You will have access to our entire 70+ acre property! We invite you to explore and enjoy. Several creeks, the South Rockfish River, and Blue Toad Hard Cider are all within an easy walk. Nearby, the Rockfish Valley Loop Trail system and Wintergreen Resort offer miles and miles of well-maintained hiking trails. The drive beyond our farm is a private road used by other neighbors, so please do not go further up the hill beyond the farm entry sign.

We do have about 20 Scottish Highland cattle and 7 miniature donkeys, so please check with us before entering any pastures currently in use by animals.

NATURE: High View is a historic farm, so with that comes some proximity to nature. The home will be meticulously professionally cleaned before your arrival, but it's possible that you may be visited by insects or other small creatures.

Here in the mountains, we regularly see wild rabbits and deer outside, and you might also see snakes, coyotes, or even a black bear. (We still haven’t seen one, though!)

For those who love star-gazing, the farm is delightful—dark and quiet at night in the country, and the summertime fireflies are breathtaking! However, this also means that you might need a flashlight if arriving after dark, or to walk between the Main Farmhouse and Guest Cottage after the sun goes down.

ACCESSIBILITY:

For those with mobility concerns, the farm might be challenging at times.

A short walk (~50 yards) on a brick pathway leads from the parking area to the Main Farmhouse. To enter and then access bedrooms, you must go down and then up a few stairs.

If you are staying in the Guest Cottage or want to use the hot tub, you also must be comfortable walking up and down a grassy hill.

PETS AND OTHER FEES:

Pets are most welcome at the farm! Our pet fee ($95) covers up to two pets. Dogs must stay on leashes when outdoors because our horned cows and donkeys can be dangerous to dogs, and vice versa. We also ask dogs to stay off beds and furniture.

We try to provide early check-in and late check-out whenever our guests request it, if we are able. Usually we can offer check-in by 1pm (instead of 4pm) for $95, and check-out by 2pm (instead of 11am), for $95 each.

Please let us know if you’d like to add pets and late or early check-in to your stay!

We came to Mill Hill Farm to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. We were very excited by the listing, and it did not disappoint! We loved all the rooms in the farm house and cottage, each offering views of the amazing property. Becca made the check-in process easy and she was very attentive with any questions I had. I hope to stay at the farm again in the future!

We had the best time at this stay. It’s curated so well and there are endless things to do. The views are insane and you can see the mountains from every single room!! We had a big group of family stay including kids and the kids said this was the best rental they’ve ever stayed at!! Highly recommend.

The listing pictures do not do this property justice. It is truly gorgeous. Extremely spacious inside and out. We were very comfortable with 13 people—10 adults and 3 young kids. 3 days was not enough time to just sit and enjoy the splendor of Becca & Elliot’s property. Elliot was so kind and patient with my crazy family as he showed us around the property and the animals. Becca was super responsive to communication—at one point the e-lock stopped working while I was off property, but another guest was locked out of the main house. She had it reset and provided a backup code within 20 min before I could even get back. I was concerned about the AC situation with it being August and having elders with us, but one of those elders got a hold of the thermostat and almost iced us out of our bedroom overnight (unintentionally). Don’t let the “old farmhouse” mislead you. We were more than comfortable here. It is obvious this home was made for family.

Absolutely beautiful property. The farm was off of the main road and surrounded by the mountains. Farm was up to date, but the overall character was preserved with historical touches. Overall outside temperature was hot, but each room has air. Also was plenty to do outside of the property - lake, fishing, hiking, antique shopping, fruit farms. Would recommend. Only caveat was a weak wifi connection which made virtual meetings impossible.

I’m a little bit at a loss as to where to begin except to say - believe the 5 star reviews. It deserves that and more! This home is even more beautiful, comfortable, and charming than it looks. It suited our large group for my wedding weekend perfectly, every person was comfortable, and we surrounded by drop dead gorgeous views to boot. I was a little nervous whether the home would feel comfortable being such an old home, but it was beyond comfortable, had seating for everyone, and lots of small hideouts for those who needed a break. Becca was fantastic. Extremely communicative and made the entire process so so easy. Truly couldn’t recommend this more.

My extended family and I spent the weekend at the Farm to celebrate my mother's 85th birthday! She is a world traveler but indicated that she had never had an experience like being at on the Farm with family, the beautiful scenery, the one of a kind property and all the animals!!! That's exactly what we were going for when we booked in 6 months ago and had family coming in from all over the country. I hope others choose a stay at the Farm to make memories with their families that they will never forget!!!

We had a family reunion with 20+ people and Becca's property was beyond what we expected! When each branch of the family arrived, they all instantly commented about this amazing find and what a unique and beautiful historical home it was. There were plenty of nooks and crannies to break out into smaller groups, the back patio allowed us to connect as a family into the wee hours of the night, and the outdoor games were perfect for the kiddos in the family. Because there were multiple homes, we designated one as the early to bed house and the main farmhouse as the stay up late and be loud over cards house, which worked perfectly. It was perfectly situated between some breweries, a small town with great pizza takeout (shoutout to Chirios), and apple picking. Becca was fabulous and easy to work with. We have already talked about making our visit to her home an annual tradition. I couldn't recommend this property and the experience more. We had a wonderful family reunion and are eager to come back for more!

This exquisite property offers a striking blend of historic charm and natural beauty. The description accurately reflects the actual experience, and the property owners are readily available to address any questions or concerns, responding promptly with professionalism and courtesy. The house and cottage were exceptionally clean and welcoming. Watching the highland cattle and donkeys roam the area was a great experience! I highly recommend this property for any family who wants to escape from the busy every day life and relax at a property with breathtaking views.

This is a truly unique and marvelous property. Our family reunion with 26 people (ages 6 months to 68) were all comfortably accommodated in the three unique, charming and comfortable houses. The hosts / owners, Becca and Elliott, could not have been more helpful. Communication with them was always thorough, quick and efficient. I highly recommend this place to any group -- large or small. Our family is already talking about returning next year!!

After much research, I booked this property for an intergenerational family reunion of 19 people and 2 dogs, ages 17-87, with people coming from NJ, MD, NC, CO and FL. Everyone loved this place - gorgeous setting in rural VA, close to hiking, wineries, farmers markets, and Cville. This property really worked for us because we had a several couples, some singles, some dog lovers some not, so we could separate into the main house and cottage, giving everyone the privacy and gathering space they needed. The kitchen and back patio quickly became our central hangout. Great den/TV room for evening movies. Well-equipped house/kitchen/bathrooms. The host was incredibly responsive and quick to answer any questions we had. One thing to note is that there are alot of stairs to some of the bedrooms, so we quickly reassigned rooms to keep the elders closer to ground level in the main house. The younger folks and a dog owning couple loved having the cottage. Very comfy beds and linens. Lots of fun to be had here - we used the hot tub, trampoline, took dips in the stream, walked to the local cidery, visited the donkeys and cows, all in all a memorable holiday we hope to repeat in this same location.
