Minutes away from Wintergreen Resort, Devil’s Backbone Brewery, Hard Rock Cider Brewery and many more attractions, sits a quaint cabin away from it all. Three Ridges Cabin has the best views of the Blue Ridge Mountains you can find. This hand hewn log cabin was constructed in 2008 for the owners and completed with a wraparound porch constructed by the owners, providing ample space to enjoy the spectacular views while having your favorite beverage. The Three Ridges Cabin was named from having a spectacular view of the Three Ridges of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The sunsets have the most memorable mountain views, from the front porch and picture windows. You can have your coffee or glass of wine watching the sunset disappear behind the Blue Ridge creating a beautiful colorful canvas on clear evenings. The Three Ridges Cabin sits in the middle of eight open grassy acres, where an abundance of wildlife can be seen foraging and traveling from the surrounding mountains across the field and into the forested creek on the opposite side. Wildlife frequently seen in the hay fields surrounding the cabin in the early mornings and late afternoons include whitetail deer, eastern wild Turkey, bluebirds and hawks. If you happen to be there during the summer months, you may get to see local farmers cut and bale the hay, leaving picturesque view of large bales of hay against the backdrop of the mountains and sunset. If there has been a heavy rainfall, you can hear Hats Creek as it flows on the other side of Shields Gap Road. The road accessing the cabin is a state maintained gravel/paved dead end road, which is not too steep to require four wheel drive. The owner has ridden this road many times on a motorcycle, so cars are certainly safe! Three Ridges Cabin has a beautiful large loft bedroom, accessed by a sturdy solid pine hand hewn stairway. The loft includes an adjoining full-size bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink and long vanity including several large drawers and a sitting area. The most unique things about the upstairs loft is the rustic king size handmade bed made from cedar trees and handmade railing from cedar trees and mountain laurel.
The loft has plenty of room including an antique chest of drawers and closet. The loft is open except for the adjoining bathroom, which is private. This portion of the cabin does not have log walls but wood ceiling and hand hewn log beams, with a ceiling fan. The downstairs bedroom is a small private bedroom accessed by two entry ways. This bedroom also has an adjoining full size bathroom with a tub/shower, toilet, and sink. This bathroom has a pocket door entrance from the bedroom with a connecting hallway with the washer and dryer, a small open closet. The queen size bed is a handmade log pine bed with matching log side table and dresser. The living room is small but enough to seat four comfortably, including a fabulous bench window seat which allows for a perfect place to read a book or take an afternoon nap. The living room is open to the kitchen area with a gas log fireplace in between, which is available to use during the fall and winter months. The open kitchen has a picture window where a dining table and chairs can seat four people. The full kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, glassware, pots, pans, and plenty of utensils. The kitchen is also equipped with your choice coffee pot maker or single cup Keurig coffee maker. Filters will be provided for the coffee pot maker. The keurig coffee maker has a capsule to add your own ground coffee without the need of Kcups

The nearby attractions include Crabtree Falls, which is a must see! Appalachian Trail and many other hiking trails, apple orchards, wineries, breweries, ski resort (Wintergreen), antique stores, and a seasonal local farmers market in Nellysford (IGA grocery, restaurants, stores including hardware store, ABC store, realty, bank etc) is 10 minutes away, Lovingston 20 mins away (Food Lion grocery store), Lynchburg 40 minutes away and Charlottesville is 45 minutes away.

Absolutely No fires, hunting or target practices or loud parties allowed on the property. This cabin is located within a secluded, quiet residential single family neighborhood.

My husband and I loved our stay at this beautiful cabin. We frequently visit the mountains and this cabin provided the perfect balance for a weekend away. It was private without feeling isolated and offered beautiful mountain views without having to actually climb a mountain. We enjoyed hiking by day and the local craft breweries and cideries in the evening. We were able to have a getaway but have the modern conveniences of AC and Wifi. It is rare for my husband to say, I'd come back because we seek new experiences but he did after our stay here.

This was a wonderful mountain getaway to relax and recover from the stresses of life. I loved starting the day with a cup of tea sitting on the porch, looking over the field and mountains. Everything, including the kitchen, was very well stocked. We were within a short driving distance of some nice hikes to waterfalls (check out Crabtree Falls). We took advantage of the darker skies to take pictures of the milky way.The owner was very responsive to questions and the wifi was good - just make sure to plan and start your route before you leave the cabin, because there is no cell service once you leave (if the map is loaded on your phone, the gps does continue to work).

My family (husband, 9 year old and 6 year old) stayed over the long Presidents Day weekend to ski at Wintergreen. All in all, everything was great. The property was as advertised, clean and well stocked. The interior was very dated, but definitely had that old cabin feel to it. There were some confusing directions in the listing and I think the time estimate to Wintergreen of 10 minutes may have been to the base of the mountain. There was a ton of rain while we were there and the driveway was a bit muddy so we had to use the 4 wheel drive. After the rain, my daughter and I took a walk around the area, to visit the little stream and saw all kinds of wildlife throughout our stay. The property was wonderfully quiet and the peace and downtime was much needed for our family. A nice place to stay and relax.
