When a linen is stained or damaged significantly, we donate it to the local Humane Society & to a few local individuals who help distribute them to others in the homeless community. As we replace with new linens, we choose organic cotton & other natural fibers so they they naturally decompose/biodegrade.

• We provide cotton towels in place of paper towels in an effort to reduce hospitality waste.
• SaltSugar Fire Hospitality offers compost collection service! Please notify us in advance if you'd like to participate.
• All ash & spent charcoal from the fire pits & grills is collected (silver pail) & used to amend our garden soil every year.

• This nearly 200-year old, 3-story rowhome does not have zoned heating/cooling & may experience unbalanced temperatures from floor to floor during the hottest/coldest months. We provide fans & a window AC unit in the second floor bedrooms.
- This is a 2-unit property: this Main House unit and Carriage House in the back where the owner lives. When out of town, he rents the Carriage House apt. on the big A. These guests have access to the courtyard. They DO NOT have access to the Main House.

Loved the house and the space! The neighborhood is excellent for dining and ease of access to transportation to get around DC. Only issue, which is mentioned in the property description, is how warm the upstairs bedrooms get in the summer. Needs some window ACs or even box fans to get the air moving upstairs- ended up sleeping in the basement, which was nice. I would definitely stay again!

Great location and communication. Only a block away from the grocery store and just a 5-10 min drive to all the major monuments and museums. Everyone had their own space and had planets to do.

Great location for DC sightseeing, easily walkable to the Metro and honestly in good weather walkable to anywhere in Mall, Capitol, White House area (we took the Metro most days since it was winter and cold).Place was clean and had all the supplies needed for general stay and for cooking the nights we stayed in. Our teen kids loved the 3 level setup where they could hang out in the basement with their own TV, beds, bathroom while at the house. Kitchen/eating space worked fine for our small group; could've been cramped for eating with a much larger group (though beds to accommodate such).Only reason this is not a 5-star is that a significant issue came up with the house while we were there that negatively impacted our enjoyment. It not due to negligence of the owner, and they quickly responded when we contacted them, and handled it as best/quickly as they could, and I understand will be resolved before anyone else stays there. So they did the best they could once issue was made known but was a significant stress on us so can't call this a 5-star stay. However would recommend the place despite that as I think this is unlikely to be recurring and everything else was very good. One important note to anyone looking at this place is that as a 3-story row house you do need to be comfortable going up and down stairs frequently between the bedrooms, kitchen, and even to get into the house. This was fine for us but for anyone mobility-challenged would be difficult to navigate.

We spent a week in DC with our adult kids and this was a perfect location for walking to all the sites. The local neighborhood is also great with some nice local eateries, a Whole Foods 2 blocks away, and an easy walk to the Metro for getting to and from the airport. The house, itself, was comfortable and cosy. It has character rather than a modern feel but we were very happy with the beds, baths, and amenities. Nice and quiet, too. All in all, this was a great pick and Jenna, the host, was an excellent communicator and very helpful.

We stayed at this lovely home for a weekend visit to one of my college aged daughters. The house was homey and roomy - exactly as described. Very well supplied for visitors. The property manager (Jenna) was exceptional in her support and communication. The neighborhood was charming and safe. A great place to spend a little time. THANK YOU!
