I do not usually write reviews but wanted to say thank you for letting us rent your house last week. It's a beautiful house that lived up to the high expectations set by the photos and other reviews. The location was great as it was close to all the museums but felt like you were part of a neighbourhood. It was also great to have the space and access to a very well equipped kitchen. No complaints and will be recommending to anyone I know coming to Washington DC!

We had a lovely 10 day holiday. The owner left lots of info for planning activities in and around DC plus starter cards for the Metro. It was great to have a full kitchen and laundry. My only annoyances were: 1) The tv did not receive local programming or if it did, we never figured out how to access it. 2) Closest large grocery store is 1 metro stop away but still easy to get to. 3) The street is quite busy and there is a fire house a block down the street. But generally the noise was no problem. Even so, these were minor issues and we would definitely stay here again.

Very roomy house, well situated for the metro, and to go get incidentals. Kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials plus more! The house has 1 and a half bathrooms, which is very handy when you have 4 people trying to get ready. Master bedroom is quite large with plenty of light and mirrors. 2nd bedroom is smaller with 2 twin beds. My only suggestion would be to perhaps put some good quality pillow toppers on the beds, they were a little hard. We enjoyed the back outside patio, again plenty of seating and perfect for the first morning cup of coffee. Lovely home with lots interesting decorations from all over. Communicated with Suzanne, who was very attentive and cordial. Would book again.

This unique two bedroom home is an easy walk to the metro on the red line and a great location if you are visiting Catholic University or want a quick connection to museums in DC. The house is comfortable, warm, and supplied well for all your needs. We cooked the entire time and had everything we needed. I'd give it 5 stars except for the beds which were satisfactory but not outstanding. The double bed in the master could be too small for some adults and I thought it was a bit hard. But for the price and location, I would easily stay here again. The house has so much natural light, which just adds to its charm. The owner/manager did a great job of staying in touch and were flexible and easy to work with. Thank you Rosie and Suzanne for making our Christmas stay with our family so fun!

This is a well-maintained, secure and comfortable property with all facilities for an enjoyable stay. The owners had prepared a detailed guide which covered not only the internal workings of the house but also the local area and further afield including all amenities and transport. They had also provided contact details for us to use in the event of emergencies, of which thankfully there were none. The house is 7 minutes walking distance from the Metro, which has frequent trains to whisk you into the city in 10 minutes. There is also a good bus service. There are shops, a Saturday market, and restaurants nearby. The area is leafy residential. We particularly liked the lovely garden area and patio at the rear of the house, which included a gas barbeque and sun loungers. All-in-all, a first-rate experience, and the owners are to be congratulated on their efforts to provide a comprehensive and highly satisfactory holiday experience.

The Monroe House felt like we came 'home for the holidays' during our Thanksgiving vacation to DC. This was our family's 1st time ever trip to DC and 1st ever Thanksgiving away from home and the house was so warm an cozy and inviting that we really felt like we were home. The wood floors and personal touch with the decor added to the cozy, home feeling. The backyard was inviting as well and even enough room to toss the football and chill on the back deck. We never took the Metro, used Uber and Lift instead which was the most convenient way to travel for a family of 4. We loved to come home to the Monroe House at the end of every busy day! My favorite room of the house was the kitchen because it was so warm, cozy and a great place to relax and enjoy the stereo while fixing dinner or breakfast. The Monroe House made our holiday vacation just perfect!

We arrived at The Monroe House and were a little confused by the cars in the driveway, but quickly found out they belong to the homeowner and the house was ready for us. The location is super convenient. An easy walk to the Metro, plenty of food choices within walking distance nearby. The kitchen is very well stocked with what you need. There is a grocery store about a mile and a half away if you want to stock up on real groceries, but we just used the CVS around the corner. My only complaints are Monroe street is a busy, therefore, loud street, but that's not a negative on the house, and I would have liked some thicker curtains in the master bedroom b/c it gets bright very early. That being said, the house is fantastic. We didn't get to use the outside accommodations, but if you stay here and have the opportunity to do so I think it would be very relaxing. Having the laundry in the basement was super convenient, also. The AC units keep the house very cool, which is nice after walking back from the Metro in the DC heat. The owner is very friendly and the nearby caretaker is super helpful. She came over and offered us some tips about the neighborhood and city. I highly recommend this house.

This is the second year we’ve stayed at the Monroe House, and again we had a great time. The Metro is super convenient, the neighborhood has many restaurants and CVS is right around the corner for necessities. The house itself is provides plenty of room for us and our children, giving us room to relax after busy days. And the yard gives the kids some room to play when they still have energy to burn. We’d hope to stay here again any time we have the occasion to return to D.C. for a few days.
