Charming Craftsman Near Hyde Park & Downtown

The Space:

The Harrison House — A Historic Boise Craftsman Full of Character and Charm

Some homes have a story to tell, and the Harrison House is one of them. Built in 1923 by the son of Irish immigrants, this meticulously decorated Boise craftsman is a love letter to a bygone era — bright, characterful, and brimming with personality at every turn. Hardwood floors, antique décor, and cheerful blue and yellow accents give the home a warmth that's impossible to manufacture, while three bedrooms and a full bathroom all on the main floor make it as practical as it is charming.

Curl up together on the sofa by the gas fireplace on a cool evening, challenge each other to board games in the sunny sunroom, or let the little ones settle in for a movie night with the TV and DVD player. When the outdoors calls, step into the enchanting enclosed backyard — a whimsical retreat featuring a vine-covered pergola and an ornate river-rock patio that feels like something out of a storybook. Serve lemonade or fresh mojitos under the porch umbrella, or fire up the grill for a perfect alfresco barbecue with the people you love most. Whether you're planning a wine-tasting weekend with close friends or a family adventure into the great Idaho outdoors, the Harrison House is ready to be the backdrop for memories that last.

My daughter lives a ten minute walk away. My son came to town and was staying with my daughter and her boyfriend. We rented the home to spend a few days with them and celebrate Thanksgiving. The living room and dining room accommodated our dinner and visiting with guests. It’s a very relaxing home.

Mixed review! Driveway is tight for full size SUV. Going inside you noticed “old” house smell especially in kitchen. A downstairs we didn’t investigate due to the large spider on the wall of the narrow hall. It was clear rugs were not vacuumed and floors not swept. There were nuts, pencils, Jenga pieces found on the ground. More spiders on the walls in entry/dining room. Lamps shades had old cobwebs collecting dust. Living room was hard to get comfy in. There is one love seat what fits 2 ppl. We had 5 people. We ended up moving the coffee table and finding more crumbs. Laid out blankets and pillows on the floor and were comfortable for a while - until my daughter killed a spider walking towards my face! The beds felt like the cleanest safest place to relax. We all agree all the beds were comfy! The shower was super small! Arms were hitting walls and shower head washing hair. A huge plus though, the water pressure was great! Water got HOT and stayed hot for multiple showers in a row! Kitchen ice maker was struggling to make ice. We couldn’t find a microwave either!? The neighborhood!!!!! Wow!!! Loved the location!! Beautiful houses on tree lines streets! It’s early Oct and so many houses were putting out Halloween decorations! Lots of people walking dogs and felt very safe allowing 12/13 yr olds walk neighborhood to look at decorations! Lastly, under beds was gross! Found trash and crumbs while doing the mom check for items left behind reason for spiders!

Charming home in perfect location! Everything was wonderful. Really enjoyed the porch and backyard, and loved walking to Hyde Park. There is a small shower which wasn't in the pictures so that was great.

The house was clean but the bathroom door does not shut, the toilet is little and low to the ground. The fire alarm went off and I called Vacasa in the morning and they were supposed to come in and take care of it and they didn’t.

The overall stay was good. But didn’t like backing out into the busy street. A paper towel holder would have been convenient. The French doors from bedroom opened outward into the narrow hallway,

We arrived on a night nice enough to sit outside with a glass of wine. Outside table and chairs were dirty, covered in yellow green pollen and had someone else’s alcohol carton trash on them. So came inside and turned down the bed only to find a hair tie, hair, and dirt in the bed. Sheets clearly not changed. The remainder of the house was clean but home has a strong odor. Smelled like antique furniture store to me. Hardwood floors creek loudly and announce anyone headed to the bathroom or in other bedrooms. There is an abundance of rough one-ply toilet paper, though. It is close to adorable Hyde Park which was the only plus for us. Would not choose this one again.

Very peaceful, great location. Only drawback, difficult to get in driveway because too narrow. Adequate street parking.

We had a lovely stay at this charming home. It is walking distance to the Hyde district which is my favorite corner of Boise. The home is really well stocked with everything you need. It’s an old home but well maintained, clean and comfortable. Would stay here again. My only recommend to owners is to please stock more toilet paper and to fix the cabinet door under kitchen sink so access to garbage is easier. I think the latch is broken?
