The historic Mayneview at Luray Overlook, circa 1865, was a station on the Underground Railroad, sits on 3 acres of land and has commanding views of town below and the mountains of Shenandoah National Park a few miles away. The property is also a bed and breakfast when not occupied as a whole house rental so it is better appointed than most other whole house rentals in terms of linens, maintenance and cleanliness. The house has been recently updated and features 6 bedrooms, each with private bath and flat screen tv, a sitting parlor, TV room, large dining room, spacious kitchen, wrap around porch, viewing deck with hot tub and efficiency cottage for rent if more space is required. Please see VRBO listing 1068132. This would increase occupancy to 17. Please contact us for details and availability. THE RATE LISTED IS FOR UP TO 8 GUESTS. ADDITIONAL GUESTS ARE $25 PER PERSON PER NIGHT.

Looking for a Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's getaway Dont have time or the desire to decorate your home Looking for a large home for a family or friend reunion The consider staying at the Mayneview. Let us do all the hard work!! Starting Thanksgiving, we are decorated for holidays every year. In fact, we have had guests say it feels like a Christmas shop! Our main tree is in the parlor but we have several other trees throughout the property to enhance the holiday spirit! We will have it all set up for you to bring your gifts and set them under the tree and enjoy the holidays without all the fuss and muss. Take a look at some of our holiday pictures!

Comfortably situated close to everything Luray and Page county have to offer, in town, but a quiet and restful location. A few blocks from downtown restaurants and shops, yet a mile from Luray Caverns (in fact, one of the co-discovers of the caverns built the Mayneview as a hunting lodge and there used to be a back entrance to the caverns on the property.), a couple miles from the National Park, Lake Arrowhead and the Shenandoah river.

Perfect for a family visit to Luray, a large family gathering, a reunion of old friends, a club retreat or a small wedding party! We hope you join us and enjoy the house as much as we do!

Upon arrival the first A experience was the VIEW. What a gorgeous hilltop view of the mountains and town of Luray. Sunrise and full moon rise were a bonus. The home had great historic flare with the added perk of an incredibly large and modern kitchen plus 5 of the bedrooms had private recently remodeled bathrooms. (Actually that was the main reason we booked with you). 5 adult couples had plenty of space. We cooked breakfast and organized picnic lunches from the kitchen, played cards and ate at the large dining table, enjoyed the fire pit on one night and a few of us enjoyed the hot tub after hiking all day. The check in process with Bryce was very thorough, friendly and informative, and his on property inns keeper, Greg, was friendly and available for all of our questions throughout our stay. The overall location was very central and we hiked in the National Park multiple times, visited the Virginia Civil War museum and the Luray Caverns and we even played pickleball 4 times at the fantastic city park. We would definitely return. Thank you so much.

This was a really lovely place! It's a beautiful house in a great location. It was big enough for a weekend away with friends - everyone had their own bedroom. It also had a great kitchen, which is perfect for those of us who like to cook!! Highly recommend this listing, would come here again!

We had a great time - the inn was perfect for our family get-together. The bedrooms and the whole place was very well maintained and cozy. Everyone in the family enjoyed the amenities and gathering in various rooms for fellowship. Bryce and Gregory stayed in contact throughout and ensured we had everything we needed. We loved it!

A few out-of-town friends and I rented this historic B&B for a long weekend, and it did not disappoint! We pulled up to an elevated, stately home and were immediately impressed. Bedrooms have individual updated bathrooms, and bonus room upstairs is a great chill-out spot for playing cards or games. We spent the most time in the spacious, gorgeous kitchen which is accompanied by cute, well-decorated lounging rooms for relaxing. Next to the house is a fantastic covered patio with a hot tub that overlooks the mountains, along with a large fire pit area for storytelling. Unfortunately, it rained the majority of the weekend — but thankfully the house kept us plenty satisfied! It is also a short drive to the Caverns, groceries, and restaurants. Bryce and Greg were warm and responsive hosts. I’d love to come back again soon!

After a wonderful visit in 2021, we booked this property again for our annual reunion of college friends. The house really has everything you could want or need for a weekend away from the city. Additionally, it is extremely well situated, offering both privacy and convenience. You can walk to downtown Luray, but are still only a 10 minutes drive away from shopping (e.g., Wal-Mart, gas stations) as well as 10-20 minutes drive away from local attractions (e.g., Shenandoah National Park, caverns, museums, mini-golf).

Property was more lovely than photos on website! Clean and spacious, excellent for all ages as we were teens to grandparents! Decor was fabulous and owner extremely easy to work with. A wonderful family Christmas reunion.

We rented this property over thanksgiving break and absolutely loved it. Hugh, who manages the property is great and was ever present to answer any questions or help with anything we needed. The rooms are fantastic and the large eat in kitchen is a great spot to hangout. The giant dining table is another bonus for a big group to eat together. It’s also very conveniently located if you want to visit Shenandoah National Park. You won’t go wrong renting this property, and honestly have nothing negative to say.
