Takoma Park, Maryland
Come enjoy this beautiful 1920’s Farm house perched on a hill in a lovely, quiet Takoma Park! This house offers tons of privacy, a huge back Yard (with a tree swing), and a nice front porch to sit and sip your coffee and overlook the neighborhood! It is also super accessible! You can be in DC in just minutes, nearly a straight shot to the beltway, and a nice walk to groceries, restaurants, cafes and metro! We are a block from a park with a natural spring and deer will often stop to say hi!
The Space
The whole space is yours! The house’s main floor consists of a living room, dining room and kitchen with a laundry closet. Upstairs you will find three bedrooms (1 with a king bed, one with a twin and one with a full) and the bathroom. (**One important note: the hallway to the bathroom and the full bedroom is VERY narrow to the point that it could be uncomfortable for larger guests. We have never had any guests express any issues, but we do want people to be aware of this feature.**) One of the bedrooms has a loft area where there is access to an air mattress for additional sleeping options. Please let us know if you would like that set up!
The back yard has room to run! Or I just with friends with plenty of space for social distancing... their is a charcoal grill for you to use as well!
Property was great! It is conveniently located between DC and FedEx Field. Jamie, the owner, communicated to us all pertinent information and was quick to respond when contacted. Personally, I love older houses! Each of us four guys slept well and had plenty of room to stretch/spread out. We were visited by a family of deer upon our return from a day trip into our nation's capital. We all were amazed by the beautiful animals. If I were to plan another trip to the DC area, I would absolutely stay in the hilltop hideaway again!
Great place to stay. Not too far to drive to the metro station but didnt feel like we were in the city. Enjoyed the backyard and the deer that slept out there every night.
This old house has so much character with a backyard made inviting to deer. We saw bucks, does and fawns daily. The kitchen is well stocked and even has a crockpot! We enjoyed morning coffee on the front porch in this quiet neighborhood before walking a short distance to Spring Mill Bread —an amazing bakery. The town of Takoma Park also has a fantastic Italian Restaurant and Busboys and Poets has a breakfast to remember. We took the subway into DC most days but if you drive, it’s still a short distance. The Takoma Park subway station has parking but we usually walked from the house if the weather was nice. Jamie and Victor went above and beyond to accommodate and make us feel welcome. We appreciated their communication throughout our stay.
Great house.
Unique hilltop property 30+ minutes from the National Mall and Smithsonian Museums. The house had everything our family of 4 needed. One evening we saw 7 deer grazing in the backyard. There are also lots of birds and squirrels. Plenty of restaurants, shops and parks nearby. Slow down for the speed hump just before turning into the steep driveway.
The house is definitely quirky, and could use another bathroom. But the location was great. Nice view. Nice wildlife. Info on website could have been more complete, especially about check-in.
We enjoyed exploring the neighborhood biking and running. Not far from Sligo Creek trail and many others in this bike friendly city. ? Takoma Food Co-Op is super close ? A few deer stopped thru to say hello we still live here too ?
We enjoyed our stay here very much - the rooms were just right for our family with 3 kids ages 7-13, the kitchen was stocked enough for homemade meals at the house, and there was lots of fun within walking distance (playground, park, swing in the back yard, etc.). Basic stores like CVS, hardware shop, etc right in town, with others reasonably accessible by car if needed. My nature-lover enjoyed daily visits from deer on the property, my book-lover enjoyed curling up on the comfy couch and getting lost in a story, and my city-lover had a blast spending so much time in the city. The subway stop was a manageable 20 minute walk for us, but we benefitted from free parking on weekends and holidays and drove multiple times as well. Subways were very easy to navigate and we could get anywhere in the city easily from the neighborhood stop. This was a great location for us to explore the local attractions while still having room to relax and enjoy quieter evenings back at the house.
Great location and close to DC and UMD. Quaint farmhouse with well appointed living area. Internet is blazing fast at the property. We had a great stay.
Great place, enjoyed the property and the yard was so nice for a cookout!
