The place is called Hideaway for a reason. Surrounded with tall trees and located on a hill, the only sound you can hear is nature. The house is very cosy and clean, classic cabin-like holliday house. It's not a big house but perfect for us as a group of 6. The kids love the bunkbed. We stayed for 3 nights for a snow trip to Mt. Buller and the house is located less than 30 minutes to the mountain. Perfect for early bird. It also takes about 30 min drive to the nearest town (Mansfield). So preparation e.g. groceries, etc. is highly recommended. We don't have any complaints during our stays but we do have few suggestions. The house listing mentioned laundry but not dryer. The house does have dryer but we're not sure if we're allowed to use it (the knob is missing) so we didn't try to use it.The house has a booklet with some information, but it would be great if there are more instructions for using the appliances, for example if we're allowed to use the dryer or not, or how to use it. How to use the fireplace. Etc.Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely save this for our future trip.

Great location for heading to Mt Buller. Enjoyed making a fire every afternoon after coming back from the ski fields. Lots of birdlife and the owners thoughtfully left seed for us to feed them. Excellent communication from the owners.

The property is set in a beautifully quiet and serene location, with stunning, unobstructed views of the forest — truly ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat. However, it’s worth noting that it’s quite remote, with the nearest amenities about 25 km away, so plan ahead.Inside, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was decently equipped for a short stay. That said, I was disappointed to find numerous expired food items left behind. It made me question how thoroughly the place is cleaned between guest stays. The biggest concern was the bathroom. The shower area was very cramped, and the toilet was quite unclean, with noticeable yellow stains and grime — not something you’d expect from a VRBO listing. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and maintenance, this property has great potential. The location is lovely, but the overall experience could be improved with better upkeep.
