First, let me say that we’ve been staying at VRBO and other rental properties across the country 5-10+ times a year with our family for over a decade. This is probably the best property we have stayed at in terms of the accommodations, view and location to major attractions. - The house is gorgeous! Beautiful craftsmanship, nicely decorated, very clean, tons of space for 2 adults, 3 kids and dogs. We could have had 2-3 more people with sleeping accommodations based on their set up. - The sunrise view is amazing! The stars over the mountains are epic. The hot tub has a fabulous view too. Tons of deck space to enjoy the view outside or you can sit inside and enjoy through floor to ceiling windows. - The house is close to Appalachian Ski Mountain and Blowing Rock’s cute downtown shops and eateries. It was not a bad drive to get to Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain either; Grandfather Mountain was on the way there. We had an AWD Subaru which was fine for the roads in rain, slush and some ice. There are some gravel sections of the road on the way to the house which are well maintained. Altogether we had an amazing time and would 100% stay here again!
The location is definitely off the beaten path, but worth it for the incredible long range views. Sunrises are not to be missed! The house is beautiful and the host is super attentive, helpful, and responsive. We would definitely stay here again!
Let me start with the negative, if possible AVOID Hwy 268 from Lenior. This route is faster, but it leads to steep, one lane gravel roads with hairpin turns and no guard rails - NOT for the faint of heart. This route can be even more treacherous if there is rain, snow or fog. There is a much better route, if you navigate to Blowing Rock first and then take Aho Rd or Blue Ridge Parkway. This route is mostly paved - A much safer route and really beautiful. The last stretch on Duggar Firetower is steep, but well maintained. As long you maintain your steering and keep on the gas it’s not bad. Might want 4WD or chains depending on weather conditions. Beyond that, the home was amazing, the views were breath taking and sunrise was beautiful. The owners were attentive and the attention to detail was noticeable. Everything was as promised. The kitchen is fully stocked and the bathrooms had little extras, like shampoo, soap, medicine, kids diapers etc, which was really nice. We stayed during Christmas time, the cabin even had a Christmas tree, decorations all throughout and Christmas candles, which was nice! We had tons of linens, they were clean and smelled extra fresh. I personally loved the outside hot tub and the sauna in master bath, worked great!! The cell phone coverage inside the cabin for T-Mo and Verizon is 1 bar or less and the internet is satellite based, so periodically it didn’t work, when it did work it was slow with high latency. Amazing Stay **5-Stars**
Great property in the mountains. The view is amazing. The layout of the house is spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed the hot tub and the downstairs space. The listing states 4 bedrooms but there are only 2 close door rooms. The other sleeping area are in common areas. We will definitely be back.
Our stay was wonderful great location out of this world views. The house was extremely nice and clean. Lots of fun for the family by far I get this 10 top five places I’ve been too
Beautiful cabin with amazing long-range views. Remote and very quiet/peaceful, yet close enough to Boone and Blowing Rock for easy access. Highly recommend!
The cabin was great. The views were amazing.
We had a very good time staying in this property. The owner was very responsive to questions we had and the view from the house was amazing! The house was isolated so it is a drive to get to the Parkway or Blowing Rock, but we were informed about this. We would recommend this home if you want peace and quiet, a home that has a well equipped kitchen and a beautiful view.
From arrival to departure, our stay was exactly as we had hoped! The view will knock you off your feet, so be careful. I wish I could attach a photo because the pictures, in the listing, don’t come close to the colors that we witnessed. The cabin is very well maintained and decorated. It seems that Peter has taken care of all of the comforts that you need to enjoy your stay. Our fur baby absolutely loved it there too. She loved hiking on the nature trail that is right out the back door. It was really great to be able to let her run around without a leash. This VRBO stay, without a doubt, is the best one yet! It checked every one of our boxes.
