Navarro, California
Enjoy a cozy vacation in beautiful Anderson Valley. My spacious home sleeps six people and is great as a family house for gatherings or a romantic getaway. The area is lush with greenery including Hendy Woods, many vineyards, orchards, and pastureland. The valley is filled with rolling oak covered hills, madrone trees, colorful wildflowers, and towering majestic redwoods. Many local wineries with tasting rooms are located on Highway 128. Also our local brewery makes delicious beer and offers tastings and tours as well. Hiking is a treat in Hendy Woods, along the Navarro River, or on the Coast. We are a short half hour drive to the gorgeous Mendocino Coast.
Special events all year include: crab & mushroom days, whale festivals, rhododendron & wildflower shows, Mendocino Film Festival, Pinot Noir Festival, Open Artists' Studios, Sierra Nevada Music Festival, Mendocino County Fair, Abalone Festival and the Festival of Lights and much more!
Two bedrooms, one with balcony, 1.5 baths, fully equipped kitchen, fabulous views, and a cozy wood-burning stove make this a great getaway. Wineries, beach, swimming pool & hiking nearby.
Although we are not remote, you feel solitude, as no other buildings are visible from the property. Serene and private, the two-story house has two bedrooms with a futon in living room. Sleeps 6 comfortably. On the second floor a master bedroom has a queen-size bed and museum-quality paintings, the second bedroom has a queen bed with a romantic south-facing balcony for stargazing or greeting the day. A full bath on second floor. Downstairs a double futon-couch can accommodate two in the large living room. A wood-burning stove affords visible cheer and extra warmth. The home is filled with stunning artwork. Ethnic fabrics on upholstery, pillows and spreads add more artistic touches, but the home is kid-friendly, with extra folding futons and air mattress.
I am a home winemaker and love to offer barrel tastings. My chickens usually provide delicious eggs for breakfast as well!
wonderful vacation spot. we would definitely stay here again.
We loved our quiet time in the redwoods. You can sit and enjoy this peaceful setting or find the best of Northern California's woods, wineries and beaches all within 30min of this property.
Nicer than the pictures imply!
We came up to spend the weekend celebrating my parents anniversary. We were 5 total with our daughter. The house and property were great - very comfortable and provided everything we needed. Only bummer was the hot tub being out of order, but the views and quiet surroundings more than made up for it. Nancy the owner met us when we arrived and gave us the tour and invited us to use herbs from her garden for cooking. She was very friendly and accommodating. We will keep this home in mind for future visits and recommend it.
I had such a lovely stay at this beautiful home. So many nice walks to be had, a pond nearby, and the home itself had everything I needed and was very well decorated. I hope to be back soon!
Nancy's home was everything I needed for a peaceful weekend away from the city. The home itself is lovely and well tended, with tasteful decorations and a nicely stocked kitchen. The house was clean and everything was easy to find. There are gorgeous walks from the house and a short drive takes you to vineyards and a beautiful old growth redwood grove. I will definitely be coming back!
Nice location, very quiet. Amazing views. Excellent and efficient wood burning stove kept the house comfy during our wet, winter trip.
This nice place in the woods made a great base for several days of a family vacation. The home was clean and comfortable, and the kids loved the games and puzzles too. Exploring nearby Hendy Woods was fun and beautiful, and amazing spots along the coast were only about one hour away. Nancy was a great host and right next door if we needed anything. Perfect spot if you want to enjoy both Anderson Valley and Ft. Bragg/Mendocino area.
We drove up and around a long driveway to majestic trees and a quaint home in the wilderness(we say wilderness because we are from the city)!! The home was very comfortable for the six of us--our grown kids slept in the living room on a futon and on blowup mattresses in front of the wood-burning stove just like camp! There is a half bath on the main floor, so that was very convenient! There is a rustic garden and herbs to use. The best thing was sitting outside on the patio chairs and listening to the sounds of the woods! We really enjoyed driving a few miles to the coast--the drive nestled between a road of redwood trees! The other direction had wineries on pristine properties and there were restaurants and markets and shops. We were there for a wedding and it was a serene place to stay. Swimming holes and a pool were nearby! We told Nancy, our host, that we would definitely stay here again!
If you are looking for a place in the woods for total relaxation and beautiful views, this place is for you!! :) it is within driving distance to Philo and Boonville wineries. We had a great time relaxing by the fire! It was perfect for our group. And Nancy was a great host and very easy to communicate with! She even brought us some dried apples from her garden! :)
