* The pool has it's own heater and is typically set at 80 degrees during the winter season. Note that in cases of severe inclement weather with outdoor temps at 20degs or lower, the heater cannot be turned on due to manufacturers warranty. This will cause the pool to be colder. The backyard pool house can still be enjoyed since it has it's own shop-sized room heater that heats the atrium to a comfortable temp for enjoying the deck, dining, and hammocks.

The house was great for our big family holiday meet-up. The pool is so unique and the kept the kids entertained. Historic Downtown Independence just up the street is full of great restaurants, coffee shops and stores. Rachel was super responsive and everything was easy to navigate. We had such an interesting and fun stay.
The house was perfect for your family vacation, it was clean and the pool house was really the best place the hangout. We had a few questions about the property and the Host was very responsive and professional.
This old remodeled house has some charm and fairly comfortable beds, but has some major issues! The pool heater was broken and the pool was below 70 degree, rendering the pool completely unusable. Theres not great seating around the pool for larger parties so we ended up not utilizing the pool room at all! Ubers/Lyft do not like driving out to independence so be advised rideshares will take forever to get one and will cost you close to $80-100 one way. Also, KC has major construction on their freeway making getting into the city even harder! Next door is a recently converted house into apartments and there is lots of people traffic and lots of cigarette smoking right outside the bedroom windows. Most of the bedrooms do not have window coverings/ blinds making it very bright earky in morning! The house had a mouse which made some guests in our group incredibly uncomfortable. We also had cob webs in corners on every room, we found keys in the couch from former guests, we found perfume and a pill bottle under a vanity. To say it simply, not impressed. I am still waiting for my cleaning fee refund that was promised!
Great property. Our whole family enjoyed it immensely!
Rented as a “base camp” for a cousin get together. 10 people from out of state stayed the whole time, with another 5 or so of us that live close to KC coming during the day to visit, swim, make dinner, play games, etc. and going home at night. We had an age range of 2.5 to 40+ and everyone LOVED it! Besides a day trip to the zoo and a couple grocery runs, we were hanging out at the house the whole weekend. The pool house is amazing! A teenager would read in the hammock while one group of people sat on the sectional couch chatting and another group would be playing a board game at the long table all while the younger kids were having a blast splashing in the pool. It’s designed well so while it’s an indoor pool, it was never overwhelming loud or echoey, even when all of us were in there at the same time. Instead of eating out, we cooked all of our meals. Plenty of table space and seating options to accommodate us all! There’s plenty of large windows and gorgeous old woodwork to admire, and the old style wide door frames gave the living/dining/kitchen spaces enough definition to offer a little privacy so we didn’t feel like we were right on top of each other, but had enough sight lines to keep track of the toddler with no issues. Flexible sleeping options, multiple bathrooms/showers, comfortable environment. Really felt homey! All the kids were asking before the end of day one if we could “get this house for next time.” The grownups felt the same. Thank you for the memories!
Pool water was cold at 75 degrees but we still had fun. House was clean and spacious. Will rent again.
We chose this property because of the pool and the location. We have a disabled child and wanted an easy and entertaining getaway before school started. The house is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The kitchen has most anything you would need and we always love having laundry so we don't have so much to do when we return home. My son and I slept on the main floor area with the Murphy bed and it was really comfortable. All of the bedding is extremely comfortable as well. For a home built in 1895, I was surprised with it's spaciousness, the bathrooms and the fact that it DOES NOT SMELL! I am extremely sensitive to mold/mildew smells and was thrilled that I didn't have to worry about it with this property. The owner was wonderful to work with and even stopped by herself with a request we had when nobody else was available. That really meant a lot to us and made our stay even more relaxing. The pool area is so unique and felt very safe, as did the house with the security. There are not a ton of options directly nearby for dining, but we did try Cafe Verona in the cute little downtown area and highly recommend it (3 minute drive). The house is conveniently located to the Interstate and there are tons of options within a 10-20 minute drive. Smokehouse BBQ is also fantastic. We would love to return to this property.
The pool room was everything we wanted and made the stay a great expierence. Knowing it was secure for when we weren't using was good comfort for the littles. Beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed.
The property was clean, stocked, and relaxing. Rachel was easy to work with and helpful. The pool room is a great place to unwind and spend the day. It was a beautiful home. We did have a hiccup regarding our check in and it being delayed a day, however, Rachel was responsive and proactive and helped us with a refund and tried to find other accomodations. Its worth staying here!
Perfect staycation and perfect spot for my daughter and few of her friends who just graduated HS. Beautiful pool and area. Had a great stay. We overpacked as they had everything and then some! Totally recommend!
