Stayed Oct 20, 2025We had a great time at our stay at the Eco Village. It's a beautiful property with lots of fruit trees planted on it, so we loved taking a morning walk to see them. The units are close to each other, but we felt that there was still good privacy maintained. There's no kitchen to cook food, but lots of great restaurants in Hilo.

Stayed Sep 10, 2024I loved everything about this property. It was close enough to Hilo to be convenient, but also far enough out of town to feel serene and peaceful. The place was sparkling clean and well-designed with all the amenities you'd expect, while remaining true to its eco-friendly claims. My favorite part was swinging in the hammock watching sunset, and picking fresh lychees off the trees. I'd highly recommend!!

Stayed Sep 23, 2024I was as impressed with the set-up of this quaint eco-bungalow as I was with the stunning sunrise views. The check-in process was painless, the host was communicative, and the small bungalow was clean and well-stocked. Despite its small size, there wasn’t a single item my husband and I found ourselves in want of during our short stay. They could have easily relied on the location and views alone to make our stay memorable, but the thoughtful additions of tea, oatmeal, slippers, a compost bucket, and even aloe vera were such a pleasant surprise. I’m so happy with this find, and would gladly recommend to any single or couple looking for a peaceful place in the upper hills of Hilo.

Stayed Feb 22, 2024The owners are very friendly, we let them know when we were coming and they greeted us when we arrived to walk through the property. In the morning we were greeted with spectacular views of Hilo and fresh bananas from the garden. This property is great for eco-conscious visitors, as the owners make great efforts to reduce their impact on the environment and teach visitors about their efforts as well. A few things to note: despite being about 3 miles outside of Hilo, it takes a solid 10-15 minutes to get to town since the private road is one-lane and winds through adjacent farmlands. Also, coqui frogs are in the neighborhood and you will hear them at night. They sounded nice to us visitors but earplugs might be useful if you have the windows open.
