Hanmer Tree House - unique location on forest edge

Extremely disappointed that there was no mention of linen not being included in the price - luckily we had our sleeping bags and camp towels with us. NEVER have I stayed in a place that expected me to do all the cleaning before I left as well as take any rubbish with me. After reading all the rules etc in the book on arrival we just did not feel comfortable and had a feeling that we were constantly being watched!

Wonderful stay. Cute 2 bedroom right next to a hill walk. Away from the tourist spots but still right in town. Perfect.

Great to have a place welcoming to pets although we did not have one with us. Great property, very clean, comfortable and what it said it would be.Host forgot we'd experience a power outage, let us know once they remembered, think they live overseas so easy to forget. They offered us free cancellation, should have offered a slight discount instead of full cancellation We really enjoyed our stay however.

Everything stood out! Few years since we have been here and immediately noticed a lot of new things....furniture kitchen appliances curtains beds. outdoor big steel bath....all functionally stylish like the old ones!

Comfortable for our stay

What a lovely place! If you're looking for quiet, privacy,spacious surroundings, nature and serenity, this is the spot!Price is kept low by not having high service - clean yourself, take what you need with you and don't mind the huhu beetles flying in - which is fine by us. We loved it!Especially the tub on the deck and the feeling of being all alone, yet just a couple of minutes from town. We'll be back. The communications from the owners are friendly and welcoming.

Host was great. Just couldnt get heat pump to work and it was freezing that night unfortunately. Otherwise was a great location.

Great location, everything you need for a breakaway

Clean and tidy, very homely and welcoming. It was our 3rd stay and we hope to be back again!

We had a wonderful stay for three days. The house is modern with everything you need for a relaxing break. There is a fantastic trail network next to the house for walking and biking, and a lovely hot tub overlooking the serene forest. Thank you for sharing your property!

We had an excellent stay. Very well set up, with every we needed. Being able to use the washing machine and dryer was perfect, as it poured with rain whilst on a walk and returned very wet and grubby!Had a lovely evening in the hot tub listening to the birds, sipping on some wine :)

The dates above didnt happen due to road closures after terrific winds did so much damage, The Host kindly rebooked me 15-16th Nov,Was totally amazing stay the weather made it too, really relaxing and quiet too listening to native birds in the tranquil restings of bush and forest, Hot tub on deck was so good to late into the evening, thanks heaps i will certainly stay again.

Great house and location

Was an absolutely wonderful place to stay, so private, so serene. Definitely the best place we've stayed in Hanmer and already making plans to re-book our next stay. Can't wait to stay there again.

The cabin was AMAZING !!!! Best shower we’ve ever had, the pressure was awesome. The ambiance on arrival set the two day stay and we won’t hesitate to book again. Everything so close and accessible but we felt like we were in a quiet paradise which was so tranquil Host communication and promptness great and an easy process to navigate Thank you for sharing your wonderful place with us. Yes always great

The accommodation was cute, clean and comfortable, in a lovely location. Communication with the owner/manager was clear and prompt. I was disappointed about the linen and towel policy - never come across this before! These were available but only if washed and dried the on-site ones yourself prior to check out which I think is a bit ambitious.

Such a beautiful peaceful spot, we loved the fire and the outdoor bath. It was very comfortable and cozy.

Nice cabin tucked away and surrounded by forest. The only negative is having to sort out your own linen.

The house was really lovely to stay at. We had a restful and comfortable stay. Only thing to remember is bug spray as we had trouble with sandflies at night must have been because of all the rain.

A little down on the usual standard, have stayed before. Shower drain needs draino, maybe a Russell in the roof? and lounge power board could do with an upgrade, Fire wood, kindling, paper on hand would also be helpful to start the stay well. A nice place.

Such a cool spot tucked away in the bush. Perfect for a private get away. Very handy for town.

Great location,clean interior barring washing machine and dryers lint filters that were absolutely full,like never been emptied.And fair bit of dog faeces that previous tenants had left.Howeva neither tainted our stay.Had alm we nedded and was exactly what advertisement said.Thank you for allowing us to stay in your bach.

Overall it was OK had everything required, (Fire very efficient) but if you are using blankets & sheets provided, they could do with an upgrade, duvee very thin & sheets had felt pen on them etc

It is a lovely property. The bedxwas comfortable, the house stayed warm overnight and the outside bath was amazing.The sharp, steep driveway was a little challenging.

The hot tub and fireplace were the highlights for us, as well as the peaceful surroundings and easy access to the walking track behind the property.

It was a lovely wee house in a beautiful location, right on the edge of the Hanmer Forest. It was very well equipped with comfy beds. There was a heat pump and a log burner so once we got those cranking we were very cosy. There were lots of walking tracks just out the door and a good big deck where our dog was able to be comfortably tethered to the verandah pole so he didn't have to spend too much time inside or in the car.

We enjoyed our stay. The place was the right size for us, the fire heated up the place quickly and it stayed warm... extra nice over winter. The warm outdoor bath on a cold winter's night was the icing on the cake.

I have stayed in several properties in Hanmer over the years, and this is, without a doubt, the best! It is really warm, perfectly situated, and has everything you need. I love the privacy of the place, and I especially like the outdoor tub - endless hot water and really comfortable for two. Jacinda is a perfect host. I would recommend this place to anyone - I really can't fault it!

We had great communication with our friendly host, and enjoyed our stay very much. We liked the peaceful location and the fact that the accommodation had everything we needed. It was requested that all bedding used be washed and dried before leaving which we haven't come across before and didn't think we would have the time to do this as it would be 2 sets of bedding. Because of this we bought our own bedding with us and didn't use the hosts. There did seem to be an option or organise, prior to your stay, and pay for a company to do this for you, however but we did think if should have been included in the cost. Having said that everything else was fine and we enjoyed our visit.

Beautiful spot where you really feel away from it all. Very convenient right next to the walking tracks into the forest, and great that we could bring our dog. Even got to see the Aurora!

We had a lovely overnight stay. The cabin was tidy and warm, and we enjoyed soaking in the hot tub at night. It was also close to great walks. All very good. Thank you.

Ideal spot for a relaxing stay

We loved this place. It's set back in the trees and makes it feel like you're well away from other people. It was a great base for exploring Hanmer.

Great spot. Not too far to walk to town. House had everything we needed. Only complaint is that the walking track in the forest beside the house has a good view of the outdoor bath. A wee screen would be great to provide more privacy.

Quiet and secluded. Easy walking to the many shops, especially for an ice cream.

We had to change dates at the last minute and the owners were very accommodating with this. They responded to any questions super fast which was impressive. I would definitely recommend this place. Thank you!

Overall great although the policy on linen and towels being washed and dried before checkout is not something I am used to from anywhere else I have stayed. Funny, my mother asked me where I stayed in Hanmer and it turned out she and my sister stayed in the same place several months ago !

Amazing property. We were 3 guys on a motorbike trip but this propery would be great for families and couples as well.Highly recommend.

We loved this little, well appointed tree house and its location, close to town centre but surrounded by trees. We were surprised by a number of walkers that took the wrong turn on their forest track and ended up on our driveway. Regrettably the previous occupants had not cleaned up after themselves, but otherwise we had a very enjoyable stay.

Wonderful location you really feel like you are in the forest. Batch had everything you need for a great weekend away. The hot tub is a bonus. Wonderful log fire and wood provided heats the whole house. Walking and bike track to Conical hill right on the boundary. 2-3 minutes car trip into heart of the village. Thoroughly recommended for couples and families. Host replies quickly to any questions and is very helpful.

Lovely clean and tidy cabin for a relaxing getaway. Close to town centre but still private. Only suggestion would be to restock tea and coffee supplies as they were empty when we arrived.

Nestled amongst the tall Cedar trees we were treated to birdsong early in the morning and throughout the day. We were able to make delicious meals using the excellent kitchen facilities. The hot showers on the cold nights were very comforting. Decor very tasteful and we enjoyed sitting on the deck. Overall great accomodation, thank you Jacinda! We enjoyed our night in the treehouse! The property was immaculately clean and offered something for all while being close to the town centre. A lovely accommodation.

The bach is on the outskirts of Hamner Springs, in a very nice location just at the start of some walks in the forest, notably Conical Hill. The bach itself is nice, no problems. Communication with owner was good. Basically the bach was everything it promises to be - which cannot be said for all Bookabach properties. After this stay, we went to a Bookabach property in WIndwhistle which was far from honest regarding their advertising (very noisy), so we left after the first night (of a 3-night planned stay), was promised a full refund by the owner, which of course we did not get, and Bookabach then made themselves invisible, ie not replying to any communications despite initially promising to make things right. I make this point here as this Hamner Springs property is NOT like that - it is honest and has true advertising. Seems Bookabach / VRBO is very inconsistent these days, happy to take deposit money, but when one has a problem (which you only find after you arrive, obviously), they do not fully refund and then conveniently make themselves impossible to communicate with... Again, NOT a reflection of this Hamner Springs property, but is a warning about using Bookabach generally - never expect to get your money back after you have arrived, even if the property is completely awful.

I really enjoyed the property which was secluded but also a handy location - we were staying in hanmer to complete some walks so having a a trail run directly behind the property was helpful. The shower was a highlight (pressure and heat)

We've stayed in alot of house is hanmer over the years and this was def the nicest for the price! Felt super secluded and was nice to be nestled within the trees but still be a shirt walk to town. Will defs be back!

What a magical place. Set amongst pine trees with the birds singing. The outdoor bath was amazing. Sitting in there looking out at nature was so relaxing. We were able to bring our dog and he loved the adventure. Clear easy to understand instructions on how to get the key. The beds were a bit uncomfortable but you cant help that. Were there for two nights. Will definitely be back.

On the doorstep of the forest, there is everything to love about this property! Huge bath tub out on the deck during a snow fall, beautiful.
