Stayed Jan 2, 2021We would definitely go back. Location was right on the ocean. It had a great sun deck we used before it got warm enough to go to the ocean which was very close. It also had a nice screened porch.

Stayed Jun 9, 2018We loved our stay at Sunset Captiva! The beach was just steps away from the home which was wonderful since we had small children with us. The house was very roomy and had everything we needed. The only problem was the dryer took forever to dry our clothes and towels. Also, we had a woodpecker pecking on the dryer vent that sounded like construction going on in the laundry room. Just minor details. Everything else was great !

Stayed May 12, 2018I think this home is even better in person than in the pictures. It is very well laid out and comfortable. Overall the house was tastefully decorated and clean. Since there is very little on the Royal Shell website about this house I will go into some detail. The kitchen is well equipped, but don't expect to find any seasonings, not even so much as salt. There is a blender, toaster and coffee maker. At this visit the coffee maker takes cone filters and not basket filters (Royal Shell told us basket). All the equipment was clean and worked well. We ordered food from Jerry's to stock the house, mostly with breakfast supplies. The lights and fans are a little confusing. Just look for the remotes. The dining room table was large, but our favorite table was on the screen porch, especially in the morning for coffee. There are some puzzles and games, we didn't turn on the TVs. The bedrooms were comfortable. My husband and I were in the master bedroom and the clearance around the king bed on one side was very slim and I whacked my leg on the footboard for days. But that was the only downside. Very firm bed. There was ample storage for clothing and the deck off the two upstairs bedrooms was a nice feature. The master bath was HUGE and maybe one of the best features of the house. We had ordered a crib from Island Rentals which barely fit next to the bed in the second bedroom upstairs. Everything we had ordered from Island Rentals arrived before we got there and was in the house. The crib wasn't exactly in the right room, but not too tough to breakdown. Island Rentals left the chairs and umbrella under the house. There were also a couple other sand chairs and an umbrella already at the house, but not enough if you are staying with a family. Probably the best feature of the house is the private walkway to the beach (very short) and for us in May 2018 a very private beach. The Mucky Duck has access to the beach a little ways down and many people come out at sunset. If you don't mind walking on the sand to dinner, this is the shortest route to the restaurants. Otherwise you can always walk on the road out of the development, past the pool onto the main road which leads to the restaurants. The pool was nice and heated, but no baby pool. Why 4 stars and not 5? There was construction on the house next door that someone should have informed us about. We were living with a baby and up early anyway, but this might be a deal breaker for you.
