Stayed Jun 29, 2025This charming historical home has a rich history, which one could read about in the Guest Information Notebook. We were vacationing attending a family reunion and originally have booked another property prior last September and in April the host claimed they double booked and we were kicked out of that property. That being said we quickly found this property and it was much better my family has been coming to Cape Cod every summer since we were kids Staying in my grandmother’s vacation home that was taken over by my parents and sadly we had to sell our beloved family home 8 years after our parents passed. We were so grateful to have this property. The trees are amazing and said to date back to when the home was originally built in the mid-1800s if you love history and a cozy house with character, you will love Gray Gables! Plenty of room, great amenities, quirky areas too but we loved the big yard very quiet and close to everything. Orleans has to offer.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed at Gray Gables for 5 days/4 nights and enjoyed our time. We are a family of 5 including 3 teenagers who each loved having their own bedroom. The pictures of the house are true to life, things were exactly as shown on the website. The house is a little dated (older bathrooms, non-level floors, etc.), but was very clean and everything was functional. It reminded me of visiting my grandparents house when I was young. The kitchen is more modern and great for making meals. The outdoor porch table and seats were clean, and we used the grill a couple times as well. The exterior of the house shows its age a little with peeling paint, etc. The house is set back from the road with many mature trees - it's a very quiet, peaceful, shady setting. The house location was great as it's only a few minutes drive from town and the rail trail. There is a short hiking trail in the backyard, and the neighborhood is good for walking/jogging. We really enjoyed our stay!

Stayed Aug 19, 2024Great location and really neat historic property. Spacious yard and nice extras like beach equip, provided linens and basic toiletries. Bathrooms are older 1960s vintage (if you like or don’t like that). Note that the upstairs three bedrooms (two twins and one queen) do not have any air conditioning - just fans. We got a cool week in the mid 70s so it wasn’t too bad for our 8 and 10 year old - but would have been tough if it was much hotter. Also - safety note that the steep stairs going to those upstairs rooms are original to the 1840 property and have a one foot rise and short (6 inch?) tread. Sort of like a ladder. That was tough for our kids and made me concerned if they got up in the night they might fall. If you have little kids I might bring a safety gate.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I can't say enough about Gray Gables. We were concerned there were not many reviews, but the house looked so beautiful in a perfect Cape location. Then we learned the listing was new this summer! My husband, daughter, son and I loved our 4 night stay. It's big, full of interesting nooks and crannies and very clean and comfortable (I wanted to take one of their beds home with me!). The kitchen had everything we needed. The attention to detail is clearly done with love and purpose. It's evident the owners love this home, as demonstrated by how sweet and thoughtful the details are, right down to good information in the renter's manual they provide. We will definitely go back. And thank you, Gray Gables, for allowing us on your maiden voyage year!
