This 1920s cottage was remodeled in the 1960s and continues to reflect that era. It is exceptionally clean and bright. It is two stories and offers a terrific location for relaxation, recreation, and fun for those wanting to experience the grandeur of Lake Michigan. It is located north of the city of Holland and is approximately 1 mile north of Tunnel Park and 3 miles north of Ottawa Beach/Holland State Park. The Bright Yellow Cottage is directly on Lake Michigan.
The cottage features a large glassed in porch leading into a spacious fully equipped kitchen with a sitting area. **Please note that there is no washing machine access at this property.
The living/dining room has a dining table, comfy couch, and a flat screen smart cable TV.
The enclosed glass front porch and deck offer a pleasant spot for napping, visiting, game playing, sunset watching, and star gazing.
The main floor has one full bath and one bedroom with a queen size bed.
The upstairs has 3 bedrooms. All of the upstairs bedrooms have a view of the lake, but the one facing the lake (family bedroom) has the best view and is the only bedroom with a TV. This room has a double bed and two twin beds.
The next upstairs bedroom has a double bed.
The last charming upstairs bedroom has a twin bed.
There is a small half bath in the upstairs.
This is an older cottage and is not soundproof between rooms. Also, except for the larger upstairs bedroom, all bedrooms are lovely but a bit small and cozy.
There is no air conditioning in this cottage. It is directly on Lake Michigan and generally enjoys a pleasant lake breeze. Also, all rooms have working windows and fans if needed. Some windows and doors may present difficulty during exceptionally high humidity.
Once settled in, enjoy the views from the furnished porch or front deck.
The lake is ever changing. Some days it is tranquil and calm and others wild with rolling surf and crashing waves. Due to recent erosion of beach and dune THERE IS CURRENTLY NO BEACH ACCESS AT THIS PROPERTY. Because of the steep drop off of the bluff, it is important that young children are supervised at all times.
The lakeside area of the cottage is still absolutely beautiful. There is a fire pit, picnic table, chairs and hammock all overlooking the lake.
There are lovely accessible beaches nearby. Your absolutely closest beaches are James Street Beach and Riley Street Beach. However, there are no bathroom facilities at those locations. Tunnel Park Beach is one mile to the north. A one car parking pass for this beach is provided with your stay. Ottawa Beach/Holland State Park is 3 miles away. There is an entry fee for cars. It is free if you find parking before the entry and decide to walk or bike in.
Feel free to use the beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, and picnic basket provided for your perfect day at the beach.
