Kailua Kona, Hawaii
vrKCV - Kona Bay Estates Hale Kai Olu, Professionally Managed by Kona Coast Vacations
Home away from home. Peace. Tranquility. Beauty. Photos won't do this home justice.
This home is everything you look for during your Hawaii vacation. Four bedrooms in the main house, one down and three on the second floor. The master bedroom has a California king bed, two bedrooms have queen beds and the downstairs bedroom is a double bed. A built-in daybed in the family room can sleep someone as well. A separate ohana unit over the garage with a California king bed, including all the amenities, completes a home that will embrace you, your family and friends with the peace and tranquility that comes from living on the ocean. Sleep at night with the harmony of the waves caressing the shore and wake in the morning to the cheerful sounds of myna birds and the cooing of doves. Enjoy breakfast on the gazebo lanai and watch for dolphins while you sip your morning Kona coffee.
This is a beloved custom-built family home where I raised my children. Our architect and designer is a master at creating living spaces which capture the local trade winds, keeping our home cool most of the year with a rare need for air conditioning. These walls have been blessed with laughter, love and celebrations for many years, and now, this home is available for you to create your own memories. I apologize in advance but "Mika" the neighborhood kitty of 16 yrs may be seen milling around with a friendly hello.
Hale Kai Olu is located in a private community with a 24-hour guarded gate. Situated right on the shoreline with gorgeous views of Kona Village, you will enjoy your own private beach with inviting hammocks, salt water pool. Walk a few steps to our local swimming lagoon that is connected to the open sea. A complete kitchen with everything you need is here for you if you choose to cook—but if you want to eat out, there are many local restaurants with a varied choice of menu items; such as fresh salads, craft beer and pizza at the Kona Brewing Company, interesting local poke and juicy burgers at Umeke's, and great Thai food at Thai Orchid, all within a five minute walk from your front door. Or take a leisurely 10-minute stroll to Kona Village right around the corner for many more wonderful restaurant choices, as well as interesting and diverse shops.
With only a 10-15-minute drive from the airport, we are close to everything that you would possibly need. Five-minute drive to Target and Macy's, ten minutes to Costco, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Walmart. Safeway is 10 minutes and our local grocery store, KTA is five minutes from the house. If you like farmer's markets, you can visit one each Wednesday close to home, venture a little further on Saturday to the Keauhou Shopping Center, or for the best on the Island take an early morning drive up to cool breezes in Waimea and visit the three Saturday farmer's markets. There are Big Island offerings for adventure and excitement to everyone's taste that are too numerous to list, with multiple terrains and scenic options to choose from—beaches, snorkeling, hiking, waterfalls, horseback riding, restaurants and experiences galore. When you have finished your day of adventure, return home to your personal paradise to relax, rest and refresh.

The location of this house is perhaps the best you can find. Within the gated community, on the ocean and walking distance from town... just not sure you can find this combo anywhere else. We were a group of colleagues who enjoyed our stay here. The sunsets on the back porch or from the pool were epic. Note to future guests, what appears to be a hot tub in the photos is actually only heated for two hours (6-8pm) a day. We'd definitely come back!
Our stay at this beautiful property was a dream come true! There were nine adults and one toddler and not once were we lacking for space. We took full advantage of the outdoor pool area, the bbq and the nearby Keiki beach. Each morning we were in the pool around 7 am , we went sightseeing after breakfast and returned in the afternoon to go back in the pool or to the beach and cooked dinner for everyone in the well stocked kitchen. We got the chance to get to know our new Australian ohana and celebrate all of us being together. What a memorable vacation! Thank you for the chance to let us come together under your roof and to enjoy the island of Hawaii!
We stayed with another family whilst fishing a tournament that left everyday from the local pier. We happily and easily walked it which made life so much easier! You can walk easily to the main street of restaurants but UBERS were also very easy to get. The house was spoilt for choice with rooms. We did find the downstairs bedroom allthough large in itself the bed size was more like a double. Not a queen. The pool and proximity to the beach is definitely the highlight! Kitchen is well equipped just needs some sharp knives or steak knives! We also only found a few pool towels which they requested you use over the bathroom towels (there were plenty of those!) Lastly it has a hot tub but it doesnt get hot! The property is in a gated community and makes you feel so safe. We really did have such a good time and we would go back in a heartbeat.
As a family of eight, ranging in age from age 2 to 63, we all enjoyed the house, its pool, hot tub, reefs and location to the tide pools. The house is also conveniently located to nearby stores and restaurants. This large house had enough comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, including a detached Ohana. The great room was a wonderful gathering place, and right off the dining room and kitchen so we could all be together when we wanted, but rooms to retreat to for quiet time. The house is lovely and well appointed for every visitors' needs. The A/C worked well, and ceiling fans made our nights very comfortable. The best part of the house is its location. The sunsets were amazing and we will cherish the memories we made, especially since we all live in different parts of the world today and our time together is precious. We would recommend this house for any large family or group. We also appreciated the help from the house's management company's concierge, David, who helped us arrange special family events, such as family pictures, a private chef and excursions. We hope you enjoy your vacation as much as we did. Mahalo and Aloha!
This home was even more welcoming and spacious than the listing conveys. Comfortable, spacious and well apportioned, and it’s beach side location is perfect - a feeling of your own “private beach” within a gated community, and the convenience of nearby shops and restaurants.
Our 9 member 3 generation family was celebrating 3 graduations. Great amenities and location. We especially enjoyed to pool right at ocean front, the fireworks viewing from the deck and the beautiful sunsets from the front wall. KVC responded promptly to any concerns we had, which were minor.
This was our dream to bring our family to Hawaii. We chose this home because we were sure we could walk to town, being on the beach, having a pool, plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms for the 10 of us. Would love to do it again!
Tremendous time at this property. Very clean, management company responsive, very close to all excursions, great neighborhood, amenities functioned as advertised and right on the ocean. Would come back for sure!
Beautiful view, saw whales from yard, centrally located
The home was everting we expected based upon the information and pictures. There were 8 of us and we were all comfortable in the home. Well stocked kitchen for meals and new Weber Grill for BBQ. Pool was great and the spa was heated from 5 to 8 each evening which was perfect for our group. High chair was a bonus and saved renting one. We did rent a playpen but there is one at the house which we did not know. Lots of pool stuff, and beach items though all of these things were not promised. Ideal location and home for family or say 3 couples to stay at and great location in Kona itself.
It was hard to leave the property because the view, sandy beach and patio were so perfect! The house is warm, somewhat eclectic and great for 5 couples. Everyone had space to roam or be together. My only complaint is the beds were a little small in some of the bedrooms for two adults.
Outstanding location on the point that allows fantastic morning sunrises over the mountain, afternoon whale spotting and amazing sunsets! Walk to town or to the old airport beach Only disappointed with the outdoor furniture which needs to be updated to really match the rest of the house and views. The first day we went to Cotsco and bought some beach chairs to use. The main upstairs bedroom has fabulous deck but poor furniture again so can’t really use it to take advantage of the beautiful views .
Really fine. Biggest problem: entrance through the gate and very unhelpful guards. This detracted from the overall stay.
The gate staff is great, beautiful sunsets. We could see the glow from the Volcano at night. House was very equipped. Check the door by the pool for lots of beach stuff. I would totally stay here again. Love it
Our family enjoyed the beautiful home in the incredible location quite a lot. The property management was very responsive when we had questions. We would recommend the home. One thing: I wish we had thought to walk to town along the ocean before the last day.
We absolutely loved this property. The house is huge and wonderfully decorated. It’s very comfortable and was stocked very well. The location can’t be beat and having the ocean, a pool, and spa was awesome. Sunsets from the lanai’s we’re amazing. There was 9 adults in our group and we had plenty of room. The house is so close to Ali’i Drive and to everything Kailua-Kona has to offer. We would stay here again. Mahalo Nui!
We’re from AK and has family from TX & CO meet us. House is older but still amazing and perfect for our family! Location is fantastic & property management is top notch!
Very clean and had everything we needed. Only issue I had was getting a working QR code for the front gate but otherwise all was good
Wonderful property! Plenty of room for our party of 7 to have their own rooms and space. View is spectacular and beach is just steps away. Pool and hot tub were well maintained and functional. Amazing vacation!
My family had not been all together for 5 years, we had a wonderful time. The house was beautiful and the location was perfect. We enjoyed the pool, the beach, especially the sea turtle that was in the pool on the beach and just hanging out on the property!
