Gorgeous Lake Front Resort Home at Alpine Lake

Our family loves the Highlander. The layout of the house is perfect for our family and has a great view from the deck. The downstairs is great for the grandkids to play in. The cupboards are stocked with plenty of different spices should you forget any. Everyone we have come across at Alpine lake has been friendly. We have stayed at the Highlander for several years and plan to return again next year.

The property and location were great. We had a heat spell and half the house got pretty warm and the AC in the bedroom - while effective - was noisy. Coupled with a softer bed, sleep was difficult. We enjoy the lake and the resort and surrounding area very much otherwise. The place is absolutely a gem for family get togethers.

This is a wonderful property in a beautiful location! There was plenty of room for our family and we loved all the games that were available to play in the home. The screened in porch was delightful to enjoy morning coffee. Highly recommend!

Great location right on the lake. The area was quiet and serene. The house was as described and everything as expected.

Our stay at Rod’s Alpine Lake home in the mountains of West Virginia was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The home was spotless, beautifully maintained, and fully stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing getaway.The mountain setting was peaceful and scenic, with amazing views and plenty of quiet — perfect for unwinding. We especially enjoyed taking in the fresh air and natural surroundings. The lake and nearby amenities gave us plenty to do, while still feeling private and uncrowded.Rod was an outstanding host — responsive, helpful, and easy to communicate with from booking through checkout. He made sure we had all the information we needed and checked in to ensure everything went smoothly.If you’re looking for a relaxing mountain retreat with a great host, this is the place. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone considering a trip to the area.

Everything was perfect

Lovely setting with the cabin overlooking the lake. A great place to spend some time reconnecting with our family. We had some trouble accessing some of the amenities ( some may have changed between when we made reservations and when we arrived.) overall we had a good time.

I have waited to leave my review, the view was beautiful from the deck. The owner of the property made us aware of an issue with the oven that was discovered prior to our stay & provided an out that we did not take. We should have reviewed our entertainment options better as the listing included an image of a gravity coaster but the closest is 4 hours away. The hiking trails were great, a cute small WW2 museum in town, and the canoeing and kayaking was the highlight for us! We were greeted with LARGE bag of trash that was left behind in the gazebo area of the deck, which I took care of immediately and we washed the drippings off the deck, and shower heads that had mold-like (black gooey stuff) that I cleaned out before we did anything else so that was manageable. The only really sad/troubling downside is that 2 of my children suffer from migraines and the downstairs used plugin air fresheners to cover-up a strong smell of pet urine. We removed the air fresheners and kept the downstairs windows open the whole time we were there so that my kids didn't need to suffer when we were at the house but as you can imagine it was FREEZING. We also could not use the bed room that had 2 twin beds due to the fact it was the worst smelling room in regards to pet urine. We even blocked the door with a comforter from one of the twin beds to keep it trapped in there. I hate to be negative, especially since this is my first experience using VRBO but I hear my issues are hit & miss normal

We were here for a wedding but never thought it would be as heavenly as it was. Woke up every morning at 6am and watch the sunrise which was breath taking. At night sat on the deck with family picking out all the stars we knew and saw many shooting stars. Took walks along the lake and tried a few trails. I could have not picked a nicer place. Nieces (over 35yrs old) were amazed by all the books available to read. I could do this everyday if it was available. Clean and homey and close to so many things to do and other family Thank you Rod for allowing us to stay here

Good location with beautiful view of Alpine Lake. Fully equipped kitchen. Canoe was heavy and hard to maneuver. Kayaks may have been lighter weight. Communication with owner was good.

Beautiful lake home with a magnificent view. The Highlander is close to the beach, boat house and pickleball court. Our group was very comfortable and already planning for our next trip back to Alpine Lake.

The house location was perfect as it was close to the beach and had easy lake access. We loved the screened in porch. Rod was very attentive and responsive. The basement had a slight pet smell, but wasn’t offensive. The outside grill was nearing end of life. Overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay at the Highlander, such a lovely home, decorated beautifully, very clean and inviting, walking distance to the beach. Would definitely stay there again.

Very Nice

This place is just beautiful! I would definetly rent it again!Although there are a few things that could use some updating (furniture, kitchen stuff)And it could use a good thorough cleaning.

The property was perfect for our family of 7 and 2 dogs who love the outdoors. Place had everything we needed to cook and bake, even a turkey.and ham. It is very spacious so one can go anywhere in the house. The hiking around the lake, in PA, WV, and MD was very “doable” and plenty of time to be home goat dinner. So glad we chose that house.

Loved the view. House is nice. Has everything you need. Has plenty of seating for a group. Communication with the host was good.

Amazing memories were made here!
