The property is perfectly suited to those visiting Paynesville with their dogs - a wonderful large back yard, fully secured with the lowest fencing spot being approx. 4ft tall at the carport gates. The rest of the yard is fenced highly, and has a bed of lush green grass that you just don't see in Melbourne this time of year - our greyhounds loved it! The house is certainly older in style, but it was presently beautifully - it was warm and welcoming, and was spotless when we arrived. The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioner in the front bedroom helped assure a comfortable nights sleep. The location is excellent, an easy 5 minute stroll to the IGA to get food to cook for ourselves, and we were at the ferry to Raymond Island in less than 10 minutes - including detours for the dogs to investigate the swan and mark their territory on every lightpole and sign post they could find! This was a lovely house in a lovely spot, at a lovely time of year to visit.

We had a wonderful stay in Paynesville! Paynesville itself is delightful but what was even more delightful was the very warm welcome we received from Danny and Wendy, our hosts at Gippsland Lakes Retreat. Gippsland Lakes Retreat was a great place to stay – so comfortable and really easy to live there. The bedroom we used was light and airy – and the bed was very comfortable. Lovely views of the garden and we woke to birdsong every morning. (Lots of bird visitors) The kitchen was very practical and the bathroom was a lovely Wet Room with plenty of space and every need catered for (shampoo, soap, towels etc – even a razor if you had forgotten yours!). The lounge was a comfortable space to watch the enormous TV but the best room for us was the Sun Room at the back. Such a lovely light and airy spot to sit when the wind was a bit fresh. The garden was lovely – and a great size and very secure for dogs. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back to Gippsland Lakes Retreat. It was clean, comfortable and as I said before, our hosts were so welcoming of us and our well behaved terriers. Wendy and Danny gave helpful suggestions of where to go and what to do in texts and in information provided at the property. We enjoyed the “Welcome Gifts” as well – chocolates, wine, breakfast supplies to name just a few.(Even food for our four legged family members!). There were lots of nice touches – games (indoor and outdoor), magazines, DVDs to watch. Our hosts thought of everything! Gippsland Lakes Retreat was a great find – thank you, Wendy and Danny!.

A very comfortable and well appointed house in a excellent location. The owners welcome package was incredibly generous and check in itself was a breeze as communication by the owners was excellent. The house was very clean and inviting with a huge backyard for our dog. I would highly recommend this property to stay at if visiting the area.

Thank you to Danny for offering his beautiful home to our family. The home was extremely clean and had everything we could have wanted including perfect accessibility for our hairy family members! An extra bonus is that you would not have known a dog had ever been in the yard or home as it was exceptionally clean, except for the few toys and water bowls which were much appreciated. The home felt like it was ours and had such a lovely relaxed vibe. Thanks also for the great breakfast provisions. We will definitely stay again. Great value for money also. Thanks Danny.

This is a fantastic holiday stay. The hosts, Danny and Wendy, provide everything from chocolates and champagne on arrival to every home appliance imaginable. You are kept up to date with local traffic conditions as well as places to see. We were offered a late checkout (4.00pm) because of the bad weather over our stay. The house is very clean, the beds comfortable and a well stocked refrigerator - milk, eggs, margerine, bacon and access to anything in the pantry. We had 5 adults and two children staying and all were most satisfied with the property.

We really enjoyed our stay at Gippsland Lakes Retreat. The place was great.... very calm and peaceful and cosy at night when the nights got cooler. Our Hosts were helpful too, keeping us informed of all that was available. The bubbles and provisions were welcome as well. can't think of a thing I'd change.
