House was a great mix of new and old. Felt very comfortable the entire time. Nice to be able to have room for a family of 5 with two large dogs. Taking home some design ideas!
Overall we enjoyed our stay. However it is clearly not a 5 star placement. The wifi is nearly non-existent. In fact, it was so frustrating that I started using my phone as a hot spot. Contrary to the advertisement, there is no smart tv anywhere on premises. There is a flat screen but not a smart tv. There were no jacks for a Firestick, ROKU etc. Nor was mirroring an option with our iPad. Therefore, we could not stream anything on any TVs even with poor Wi-Fi. We survived the week by using my iPad and hotspot phone. This is not the place to go if you think you can bring your computer and get some work done. Finally, the cleaning lady was very sweet and accommodating. However, there appears to be no one keeping the flower beds weeded, bushes trimmed etc.. The front yard was definitely a turn off with knee high weeds. Backyard was fenced in and that is nice. Parking is off street and great. Kitchen facilities were beautiful. I enjoyed the vintage architecture , woodwork and stain glass. Host had a bakery bring us scones on our checkin. That was a nice touch. The local antique stores were fun and well stocked. Location made it easy to get to/from Gettysburg. The front street is busy!! But use the paved ally in back and it wasn’t that bad getting back into Lincoln Way. But the Wi-Fi/tv keeps it from being a worthy 5 star.
We were visiting for the 160th anniversary of Gettysburg. This house is in a prime location. Excellent communication and check in process. Beautiful little town square a short walk away. Nice fenced in back yard for children. Accurate in VRBO description. Would definitely recommend for families.
We needed a family friendly house to celebrate visiting our extended family in the Hanover area. This house has a lovely modern kitchen and huge family room for all to gather. Grandkids enjoyed the outside patio and fenced yard. Great restaurants in the area made the location very convenient.
Loved the house and the owners were helpful when we had a few questions
This was a wonderful place to stay for a history weekend away in Gettysburg. We had a great time in New Oxford, and it was close enough to Gettysburg to spend time there as well. The home was amazing, and we had everything we needed. It was comfortable and relaxing and we felt very much at home.
Our grandmother passed away in Hanover, so all of us cousins needed a place to stay close by- this house was beyond perfect! We were able to walk to get coffee, wine and antiques! The kitchen/living room was perfect for us to all talk, share old memories and make new memories!
This house is beautiful. We had 6 adults and 4 small children and we had SO MUCH room. The porch swing is so nice and the house is the perfect blend of old architecture with a spin of new modern kitchen and living. It was also very clean and had lots of things around the house to help make our stay even more enjoyable. We spent most of our time exploring Gettysburg from the battlefields and museums to spots downtown. The house is about 10-15 minutes from downtown but was such an easy drive. New Oxford is a cute little town and we found some hidden gems at the antique shops right beside the house.
Downtown New Oxford is a short walk away, and the short drive to Gettysburg gave us plenty to see, do, and shop for during our stay. The house was able to sleep our large group. The spacious room in the back was great for hanging out as a family, and the dining room was an excellent space to share a meal or a board game. Two islands in the kitchen are great for setting up food for the family to load up at dinner. The back patio is quiet, and the covered front porch is wide enough for a few people to sit and read in the fresh air. The historic construction lends to an enjoyable atmosphere throughout the house.
Beautiful beautiful home that feels like it's out of a historical fiction novel. Sweet little town with interesting things to see in walking distance. Antique shops for days! The home has old timesy charm accompanied by modern upgrades that made our stay comfortable and fun. This house is huge and could definitely host larger families/groups. The heating system is a bit loud, but you get used to the noise after a little while and for me, didn't detract from our stay. Would definitely stay again and take advantage of all the nearby attractions!
