This is my second time staying at this Rock River cabin. Our first visit was this past summer, and of course it was great being outside and on the river. This visit was for a family Thanksgiving trip, and we took full advantage of the warm, cozy gas fireplace in the family room. It was fantastic! So comfortable and inviting, and we slept great in the beds, too. The kitchen is one of the best stocked in any VRBO locations I have visited. JoAnn is a wonderful host. We will be back!!

Sisters and brother go somewhere for a long weekend every year. This was a wonderful choice for us. The house is very well layed out with everything you need. The kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms (very comfy beds) have it all. Loved the view and the fireplaces. The deck is awesome! Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back. Joann is great to work with too!
Very homey and spacious for our extended family which allowed us to unwind and relax for our sons wedding nearby.
We really enjoyed sitting on the deck or enclosed porch and viewing the river. It was quiet and peaceful. The cabin was clean and fairly comfortable. It could definitely use an update-carpet replaced, bedroom drapes replaced, patio door repaired, better lighting and especially a walkway from driveway to door. We had to traipse through the lawn to and from car-which is uneven ground and wet when rainy. Not a short distance either. Overall we had a nice stay and the location on the river was excellent. But like I said, needs some repairs and updates.
Great location! Would come back again!
The home was very spacious and we instantly felt at home. Being right on the river made for a very peaceful and beautiful stay.
We were looking for a place to get away from the city and relax. This place was perfect! Well stocked with everything we needed. Loved eating out on the deck right on the river.
The property had a beautiful view and was clean on the inside. Would definitely stay here again
OMG..!!! We had a ball… WE HAD A TIME..!!! Everything was JUST LIKE THE AD SAID IT WOULD BE..!!! Wish we could’ve stayed longer..! .. the only thing I couldn’t find was a broom to sweep up the kitchen.. but that didn’t stop us from partying like ROCKSTARS..!!
It reminds me of my childhood vacations at my grandparents' cabin. The neighbors all feel like old friends. Spending time with my kids, and grandkids is priceless. And the river breeze never seems to end.
We were looking for a place for our group of 7 family members that was close to Dixon and not too far from Rockford. This fit the bill and was the perfect base for our visits with nearby family. We really enjoyed spending time on the deck and the kids had fun playing board games. There’s lots to do in the area with the nearby state parks. It was pretty warm upstairs throughout our stay despite the fans and portable air conditioner, making sleep a bit difficult. Other than that, everyone downstairs seemed pretty comfortable. Overall, a good little spot, would stay again if looking to come back to the area.
Nice updated house. Lots of outdoor sitting to enjoy nature right on the river.
It was all great, the only negative I have is that I wished the stairs leading down to the river had handrails and a gate so it would be less likely to trip down the stairs and into the river, and so I wouldn't have to worry about my kid being out on the deck so much.
Our girls trip this year was fantastic. We loved the river view and the peaceful atmosphere. We left restored and truly glad that we came.
We had a great time
The Getaway Cabin is a great place for a family vacation! It is right on the River and has easy access if you want to canoe or kayak. The cabin was charming and very well stocked with everything you need. The outside deck and built in grill were perfect for the setting. Joann checked in with us and even left us snacks and a welcome note! We will definitely stay here again!
We had an amazing time at this gem on the Rock River. The views from the indoor porch and outdoor deck are gorgeous with plenty of seating options in both spaces! The house is open and inviting, clean, well stocked, and beautifully decorated. Communication with JoAnn was easy and we always received responses quickly. We couldn't have asked for a better getaway for a family weekend.
We had a wonderful time. My husband my daughters and son in law and our 9 month old granddaughter! We couldn't of asked for a better place!! Right on the River tons of decks!! Very quiet and relaxing,my husband caught some fish!! We give it 20 stars!! Loved the place!! We will be back!!
The house was beautifully furnished. It had everything you needed. The views of the Rock river are amazing.
This was the perfect Getaway for me, my boys (12, 14) and Grandpa. As soon as we got there we felt comfortable, plopped stuff down and went to the backyard river and started fishing (great bonding time for kids and Grandpa). This has everything you need so just bring your clothes and food. Furniture is comfortable, decorations inviting and layout worked perfect for me and my boys upstairs and Grandpa downstairs. We found anything we looked for (except I looked in every cabinet for a pot, then my kids pointed out it was hanging over the island!) We took advantage of everything this house has to offer; grill, eating outside, game cabinet and table, bonfire, coffee on deck. We even enjoyed being a little nosy and looking at antiques like a 1930s radio cabinet my kids were curious about. The house is on a dead-end street and I always feel like I am a local when I get there. I’ve stayed a couple houses away and it the houses are close, but neighbors are extremely friendly and will wave to say hi, but then let you have your privacy. With the forest across the river, just sit, look for the eagles and after a while you really feel away. It’s very peaceful and relaxing. Oregon is a nice little town and has the basics, but if you want to take a scenic drive to Dixon, that’s neat too. Castle Rock is a couple mins away and my kids like to go to the look out and skip rocks. But, mostly we just hang out at the house and relax, which is why we go. We will go back and look forward to it!
Literally right on the river. Very relaxing.
The house was perfect. Very clean and organized. If your looking for a home away from home you found it.
