Stayed Apr 16, 2026Perfect little cottage with an authentic frontier feel! So well done. Easy 4 min walk (literally) to the center of historic Fredericksburg. All the shops, restaurants and in town tasting rooms. The house is laid out where you can read in the bedroom and someone else can watch tv in the living room. Great porch with rocking chairs to enjoy your wine or coffee…we did both :) Definitely will return with friends…there’s another stone house behind this one that is available as well. Lastly, dog friendly with a fenced backyard… Oscar, (our dog) loved the front porch best however; watching the world go by. Private, comfortable King bed and great location.

Stayed Apr 10, 2026Everything was great. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was really low. But, otherwise, cute place and perfect location for walking on Main St.

Stayed Feb 5, 2026Loved the location, cleanliness and the historic house itself and that it was pet friendly . The shower situation was a bit tough to navigate and the yards outside definitely needed some attention. That being said, we would stay here again.

Stayed Mar 2, 2026The yard (front and back) are nothing like the pictures. There are dead plants everywhere and hardly any grass. What appeared to be a wooden structure to use to step into the hot tub was completely broken. The chairs in the backyard were rusted over, not something you would ever want to sit on. The worst was the temperature inside the home. The air-conditioning clearly does not work as it had been running for several hours set to low 70s and was at 78 when we arrived. An hour later, the temperature had risen to 79. Yet the contact person told us it cools off quickly. The pictures of the interior are deceiving, the lighting in the kitchen is so dull a candle would have been brighter. I would never recommend this place to anyone and felt quite deceived by the post itself. It was so hot inside that we had to leave and find a new place. The temperature in the house was overwhelmingly hot and definitely not cooling down as the sunlight faded, it needs a full air air-conditioning replacement before I would ever want someone to stay in there again. And it needs accurate pictures. That truly reflect what the place looks like.

Stayed Mar 8, 2026The Fred Haus was perfect for us, so cozy and comfortable and the location was perfect. Two blocks from Main Street made walking easy. We loved relaxing in the hot tub each evening after days of shopping and enjoying the wonderful restaurants. This house was a great find, and we will definitely stay again if visiting the area!

Stayed Aug 13, 2025Staying at Fred's house was such a perfect choice. I couldn't believe how every detail was covered, and every single element was dripping with character. It was like an actual dream, it went by so fast...Would stay here again without a second thought! Enjoyed the full kitchen, claw foot tub, hot tub for 2 out back – and very clever, comfortably appointed furnishings. I also had an excellent experience working with Absolute Charm, the team is top drawer. Thank y'all.

Stayed Jun 19, 2025This is a perfect sized home to spend an exciting weekend in Fredericksburg. The comfortable bed and sheets are so welcoming after a long day spent at the wineries. Enjoy a quiet morning enjoying your coffee sitting in the backyard or sit on the front porch! You’ll love it either way. Main Street and all the shopping and restaurants are only a short walk away, too. We’ll be back to spend another weekend at Fred Haus!

Stayed Dec 17, 2024We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Fred Haus! It is a perfect location for walking to all the shopping on Main Street! And it is very quiet and peaceful at night! Very cozy for 2 people! Nice little fenced yard. Our medium-size 5 yr old doggie loved it too! The kitchen could use a bit more lighting and the tub/shower is tight. But for a very old stone home - they did a wonderful job!
