Fossil Knob Ridge -Quicksilver: Ultra Modern Container Home

We enjoyed our stay in the Rainbow House at Fossil Knob Ridge. The scenery is amazing with views of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park. The location is convenient to the Starlite Theatre, restaurants, coffee shops, and Big Bend. The container home was very clean and just what we needed. Nice, but no frills. We were able to prepare meals as needed in the kitchen. The sitting area windows provided beautiful views. The bed is super comfy too! There are a total of 5 container homes at Fossil Knob Ridge, and they are all set uniquely in a way that each of the homes are very private and very quiet. The road to get to the home is long and bumpy, but worth the privacy and views. We had one minor issue with 2 electrical plugs not working, but that was resolved within an hour. We definitely plan to stay again!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Fossil Knob Ridge, the space was well represented by the photos, it was clean and had amazing vistas. We were able to enjoy the magnificent stargazing that was a primary goal of the trip. The bed and pillows were some of the most comfortable I've ever slept on at any type of rental property, hotels included! We were so comfortable we got a late start to Big Bend National Park, but the unit is close enough that we still were able to partake in what the park had to offer. We had everything we needed to cook and relax. The owners were very communicative and it's important to pay attention to their recommendations, the last part of the road to this nicely remote location is exactly as difficult as described; no sedan would make it unscathed. We can easily recommend this rental.

It is a lovely place that I will probably be taking my husband back to. But I took my daughter for her B-Day and the advertisement of a two bed was a small couch that pulled out oldly and we had to go and purchase a blow up. other than that we LOVED it!!!! Perfect for a couple

Property was great — everything was clean and well maintained. Had a fabulous view of the park off in the distance, and very dark skies at night (but best the third night once surrounding units didn’t have lights on). The only thing we really felt was missing was a place to hang up clothing — at minimum some coat hooks would have been helpful, and maybe a hook in the bathroom to hang up some PJs while showering. We had a great stay overall and would absolutely come back if we come back to Big Bend!

I have to say this is one of the most spectacular settings we’ve ever stayed at and the rental was clean, very comfortable, with awesome linens, a spacious bathroom and wonderful hosts.

This was a terrific place to stay, and it had everything we needed to make our hiking trip to Big Bend memorable. The hosts were extremely responsive and kind, and the place was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a great view of the sunset by the fire ring and the next morning a great view from bed of the sunrise over the Chisos mountains!

this was amazing and the location was too- the stars.... There were gazillions of them! I am so glad we stayed here!!!

We had a fantastic stay during Christmas. The modern container home is comparatively upscale and quite comfortable. We enjoyed the window views although we sat outside to catch the beautiful night sky.

The unit was tastefully decorated without clutter. Very comfortable and well appointed. Hosts were responsive and proactive. It is always wonderful to see the Milky Way from your front door.

Amazing property with spectacular views. Close to town center Terlingua. Conveniently located between parks. Hosts were very communicative and informative for any questions I sent there way. Amazing Hosts!!!

I love this little spot. I especially love that it had a real coffee pot (as I loathe Keurig Coffee). I have lots of good things to say about this rental, LOTS. Suffice it to say I'll stay again soon. If I had to speak of a negative, it would be the long, bumpy, and steep road in. I have a 4WD truck, but a 2WD car might struggle. It's no fault of the property owners, just worth a mention. Great place to stay though!

it's nice to be able to make your own breakfast and sit on the patio and drink coffee.

We absolutely loved the Quicksilver house and Fossil Knob Ridge. The home had everything my husband and I needed. The location was amazing- close enough to town for going out for meals, but you still felt removed from everything. The home had everything we needed for cooking easy meals. Looking forward to coming back in the future.

This place was the perfect getaway for my wife and I during our road trip to Terlingua.

We had a great stay and were in awe of the sunsets, sunrises and amazing night skies.We had everything we needed to cook and relax after a day of exploring. Highly recommend staying here but do heed the warning of having a high clearance vehicle.

Truly was a magical experience to see all the stars illuminate the night in the pitch of the dark. Very unique structure, cozy and quaint. Had all the amenities necessary for our trip. Close enough to Big Bend which I loved. Many local shops and cafes to enjoy. Highly recommend for those seeking adventure!

They Rainbow house was perfect. The views were amazing and close to all great restaurants to eat. Close to Big Bend National park. Will definitely be coming and staying at Fossil Knob again
