Stayed Jul 1, 2023We stay at a lot of VRBOs, but this one was exceptional! Not only was the house, the view, and the location, better than what we expected, the hosts were above and beyond amazing!!! We could not have asked for more. The only bad thing was that we had to leave and go back home and work again. We will definitely go back!!!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969With two bedrooms, the house is perfect for a quiet get-away for a couple with or without guests or a small family. Located on a private beach at the end of a dead-end road, it is a great place to walk a dog or bicycle without traffic. The home has both bicycles and kayaks available for use, and it was fun to explore the near-by islands by kayak. The whole back of the house is windows and the view is fantastic. We enjoyed watching the shore birds and the fishermen on the near-by flats with the telescopes provided and wading to fish ourselves was as close as the back door. It is a short 22 mile drive to the hustle and bustle of Key West and there are ample dining opportunities on other islands near-by, as well. A nice grocery store is available on Big Pine Key about 10 minutes away. The owners live across the canal from the house and they have always made us feel very welcome. We plan to return.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We enjoyed our monthly stay at this rental. The view was fantastic and the house certainly met our needs. The owners provided us with kayaks which saved us several hundreds of dollars. Every appliance work! The locations presents itself well for bicycling which we did everyday. Also, we being on Summerland Key makes for a short trip to Key West or Big Pine.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We had the perfect vacation with our two boys (20 and 21). The island is quiet enough that you have plenty of quality family time yet close enough to both Key West and Marathon to have outings to more activities. I can not say enough about the location. If you bring or rent a boat you can be at Looe Key Reef snorkeling without much delay. If you don,t have a boat there are many companies that will take you. The owners have a nice notebook that helps you feel at home on the island and directs you toward fun activities. The home was perfect for us. It was clean, well stocked and had items like kayaks and bikes to use. If you are thinking of visiting the Keys and two bedrooms suit your needs then you will love this home. It has a unbelievably beautiful view. The owners are honest, easy to work with and helpful. Enjoy!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This was our first trip to the Keys and our expectations were lofty to say the least. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in paradise. The owners, Bud & Grace were gracious and very knowledgeable of the area and gave us the perfect mix of privacy and attention when needed. The house is close enough to Key West to enjoy the entertainment and attractions and just far enough away for the peace and tranquility the rest of the Lower Keys have to offer. The views from the house are captivating. It is ideally located for diving snorkeling, and fishing. It had all the amenities you could want. Thanks in large part to the wonderful owners, we truly had the trip of a lifetime and definitely plan to return to the Key-Ver House.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The two of us, both senior citizens, spent the whole month of November 2014 at this great spot. We enjoyed very much Bud and Grace, who were superior hosts. There were a couple of minor glitches that showed up while we were there however both Bud and Grace were there immediately to correct them. One day we've seen over 40 dolphins porpoising right out in front of the house. We watched the beautiful sunrise almost every morning. I caught quite a few fish from the seawall. Next time I will bring a boat or get one that can be kept right at the 60 foot sea wall seawall. You can rent one just down the road a short distance We made a good friend of very large iguana. About five feet long... Everyday he would come and pose in the trees right next to us. We definitely plan on returning.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I am an art critic with the Village Voice Media’s Miami New Times and my girlfriend is an attorney who were eager to plan a vacation away from the hectic pace and vagaries of life in Miami. At the Key-ver House on Summerland Key we discovered an unspoiled slice of Eden with an abundance of natural wildlife, soul-enriching serenity and spectacular fishing. Let’s begin by saying that the owners’ Bud and Grace were both generous and hospitable taking the time to orient us about the surrounding area and all the activities available to visitors. The house itself was spacious, with a private beach and boasted panoramic windows overlooking the ocean that doubled as one’s personal theatrical stage featuring stunning sunrises and frolicking pods of porpoises and the occasional sea tortoise. The house comes well-appointed with every conceivable home amenity, including a gourmet-friendly kitchen, cooking hardware and appliances. The bedrooms are comfortable and all the rooms decorated in understated tropical, Keys fashion. Located between Marathon and Key West---a short 25-minute drive in either direction—Key-ver House is close to some of the finest restaurants in the region and just minutes away from Bahia Honda recognized as one of the top ten beaches in America. The house also comes with a pair of kayaks and bikes to make exploring the area an adventure. We love fishing. So when Bud offered us his nautical maps and shared tips on nearby snapper honey holes to dip our lines in we were enthusiastic. Let’s just say that a short kayak ride from the backyard to the nearby Crab Key provided us with our daily limit of twenty snappers each time we visited. The ridiculously gorgeous spot made for some great meals not to mention fish stories that have left friends and relatives green with envy. Not only did Bud and Grace make us feel at home upon arriving, but the house itself was homey and comfortable in every way imaginable. Before we forget, we have to mention that the Key-ver House is pet friendly and our three girls—a teacup poodle, a dachshund and a Chihuahua had the best time of their lives there, romping in the surf, sniffing out crabs in their holes and chasing iguanas. The place is even fronted by a private canal to park your boat and houses some of the fattest snapper we bagged during our vacation. I can’t think of a better place to relax and unwind, uplift your spirit or communicate with nature. This quiet, waterside retreat fit what we were hoping for flawlessl

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My boyfriend and I are in our late twenties and wanted to celebrate graduating from our respective graduate programs. We couldn't have picked a more perfect spot than the Key-ver House! From sitting with a book on the beach, to fishing in the canal, to going out in Key West, this aws the perfect way to relax and have a great adventure at the same time. And the owners were incredibly hospitable - their rules were clear and they went so above and beyond anything we could have imagined to make us feel at home. I even forgot my hair dryer and straightener, and they mailed it to me Priority the next day! If you're looking for a quiet, clean, beautiful place that is an excellent base from which to explore the lower Keys, it can't get any better than Key-ver House. We can't recommend it enough!!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We really enjoyed staying at this waterside home! It has a perfect unobstructed view of the water and sunrise over the beach, plus a dock right there if you have a boat. It's furnished nicely and felt like home immediately! It's in a quiet neighborhood, and there are local activities or it's just a short drive to Key West for all that offers (without the craziness of staying there.) Highly recommended !
