In the summer it is suitable for swimming or wading, fishing, and kayaking (on a short stretch of creek). It has bass and perch. There are a few fishing poles at the house, but you would want to bring your own gear if you're serious about fishing. (There are some great fishing opportunities in the Mountain View area, on the White River and in Blanchard Spring Recreation Area.)
Kayaks and canoes are (USUALLY) available on the creek bank. Please check with the host in advance if you know you want to use them.
The water level and clarity of the water will vary depending on the time of year and weather.
You are invited to bring ATVs to ride. Shooting is also allowed. Please contact the host in advance about where to shoot.

Things to know:
The house is on a dirt road. Condition varies. It's always passable by car, but it can be bumpy or muddy at times. Some areas of the property may be accessible only by 4wd or on foot, especially during wet weather.
Cell service is spotty. AT&T works at the house, but service is not reliable as you get away from the house. You can drive along the road back toward town and pick up service in a mile or so. Other providers are worse. WiFi calling generally works at the house.
The house is wheelchair accessible via a ramp at the back door.
We offer guided hunting during deer and turkey season. This is booked separately, and hunting is not included with reservation of the house.

It was a cool farmhouse, so clean and comfortable. Amazing porch and very peaceful out in the country, just like we like it! Edie did a good job at being responsive and friendly as the hostess. Thank you!

Our family of 5 with 3 small children and grandparents thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Edie’s place. Home was immaculate. Thoughtfully stocked with everything a family would need. The baby bed and high-chair were much appreciated. The baby gates at top and bottom of stairs gave me peace of mind for an active toddler. Our kiddos loved reading from the timeless library and playing with the toys. Bunk beds upstairs were perfect for older kids. We swam at Blanchard Sorings in the morning and enjoyed playing in the yard in the afternoon. Saw tons of wildlife and appreciated the privacy. Loved drinking coffee on the porch. Edie was very communicative. Home is Mom approved. We will book again!

This is the best place I have ever stayed. It was clean and just as pictured. I went with my daughter and grandchildren called my husband and told him if I do not come home this is where I live now. I loved your home. Thank you so much for sharing it. I want to come back every year best place I’ve ever stayed.

This house was everything that we hoped it would be...peaceful, beautiful, and comfortable. Our kids said that it felt like home. As a family of readers, we especially loved the extensive library! Edie was great to work with and even dropped by some extra kayak paddles to make sure that we had enough. We would definitely book again. For the outdoor types, just a suggestion...ticks were a big issue, so some kind of woods/bug spray is a must. We didn't think to bring any. There was some kindly left in the house that we were able to use, but next time we will pack our own, just to make sure that we have plenty.

What a great place to vacation! This is our second time to stay here. This old farmhouse is any country loving, big families', dream place, to get away and make some memories. Edie Sutterfield is the perfect host with her attention to detail and great communication. She was very helpful in answering any questions or fixing any problems we had. I highly recommend this rental for anyone that's interested. Thank you Mrs. Edie!

We had a very nice stay in this house. The setting was gorgeous in early spring. Our group size was smaller than anticipated but it worked out well -- room for everyone around the kitchen table, rocking chairs for all on the covered porch. The only thing that would have made the experience better would be to have received the directions (and the warning about what Google or Apple Maps would likely get wrong) a day earlier.

We loved absolutely every detail of this amazing property! Our group of 7 ranged from ages 6 to 43 years old and offered some thing for everyone. We enjoyed cooking a big breakfast in the kitchen and using the fire pit for s’mores in the evening. we also enjoyed the wonderful variety of books in the home library. Watching the sunrise and the baby cows from the front porch can’t compare to a regular hotel. A bit off the grid and away from neighbors, but yet only 5 miles into town for activities, and restaurants and grocery store. We will definitely be back in the future!
