The Farmhouse is an adorable gem! Low key, laid back and well-appointed, this is the perfect place to return to after visiting wineries and trekking through gorges. Sleeps up to 6 people comfortably with plenty of room to eat, relax and play! This property features an orchard and beautiful gardens plus you can walk through the adjacent nature preserve to waterfalls!!!
This is a super sweet home that I've put a lot of love into--it was built in the late 1800's (the first on this hill) and before my parents purchased the land in the 1970s a family of fiddle-playin' potato farmers lived here. My sister and I grew up on this land riding horses and climbing through the gorge out back. Now I'm happy to offer it as a home-away-from home to you!! There's plenty of room in the kitchen for folks to work together to make meals or drink wine at the island counter and let your darling chef make it all happen. There are games and art supplies in the dining room cabinet and room to lounge in the living room. The east bedroom has a queen sized bed, the west bedroom has a full size bed. There's a home office area in the west bedroom too--a large desk and comfortable office chair. With fast and reliable wireless internet the Farmhouse Gem makes an excellent work-at-vacation-home location. The living room sofa opens up plus the futon chair converts to a twin bed. The laundry room is a sweet perk so you can get clean after hanging out at Treman State Park or playing in the Anarchy Zone at the Ithaca Children's Garden. And speaking of getting clean--the bathroom has a tub and shower.
The Farmhouse is completely yours to enjoy! There's also a private front and back patio. My family home at two other vacation rentals (a yurt and a octagonal tiny home) are also on this property but you'll have to come up the driveway to be in these shared spaces. You're very welcome to walk through the wildflower field (you'll see the octagon) to get to the nature preserve and waterfalls.
The Farmhouse is deeply cleaned and thoroughly sanitized 24 hours before check in. During the Covid-19 pandemic the garden and hen house are off-limits but there's plenty of room to enjoy the wildflower field and nature preserve while maintaining distancing requirements.
What a charming and unique cottage! It is an old farmhouse with a lot of charm. Michelle was an attentive host, too. I did not realize that there were 2 other units where other family or friends could stay. We loved it!
Lots of good things but some could be better
This cute 2 bedroom cottage is set on a pet-friendly property that includes a sweet wildflower meadow adjoining a natural preserve leading down to a gorge. It's a peaceful spot just south of Ithaca and close to Treman and Buttermilk Falls state parks.
My husband and dog stayed here over a long weekend. The quaint farmhouse surrounded by beautiful flowers is charming and extremely clean. It was geographically located near Ithaca and many of the popular hikes and waterfalls in the area (30 minutes or less). The kitchen had everything we needed to make basic meals. Special care had been taken to ensure we enjoyed our stay including a new bag of whole bean coffee and a french press from the hostess and fresh sunflowers on the table. Despite being just steps from the host's home and other rental homes, it was situated privately. All ammenities noted were present including a standalone air conditioner in the living room, washer and dryer, desk and high speed internet. It was absolutely amazing and a dream to be able to travel with our dog. While special care had been taken, we found the beds and furniture on the uncomfortable side, however, I accept that may be more due to a personal preference. Overall, we would stay again!
My brother, niece and I had a wonderful, relaxing get-away, after not seeing each other for a long time. Perfect place to talk, cook breakfasts and dinners, play board games and hang out. We went for hikes and visited waterfalls. The cottage is out of town but very easy to get to, the perfect combination of secluded and convenient. It's not a large place but feels very spacious. Michelle is a great host!
The place is cozy and clean and a perfect garden hideaway. The host went above and beyond to help solve an issue I had so that my company could reimburse me for the stay, as I was traveling for work. If you have the chance to stay here, do it! You will have a lovely time!
We loved the farm house. Beautiful setting and very comfortable little house. We would definitely stay again.
We had a really nice time staying at the farmhouse gem. It was a great place for our family. Our son enjoyed feeding the chickens and exploring the property. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet. This was a great place for us to unplug and reconnect. My only regret is we didn’t hike down to see the waterfall! Hopefully next time!
Seriously, you know all that time you think about your vacation and how well it’s going to go? This house was better than my expectations. Even though it’s on land with other houses, we felt plenty of privacy. The house was so clean and cute, everybody had space together and apart. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. The most amazing thing was the waterfalls attached to the property, that we could explore, probably the highlight of our trip. The little details; the assistance when needed, the fresh eggs from the chicken coop, the record collection, the well appointed kitchen… I hope this review doesn’t get the farmhouse booked for eternity, because we so hoped to go back!
We loved staying at the farmhouse. It’s a cute place and tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. The farmhouse is just about 10 minutes from Ithaca. We enjoyed exploring the property and hiking nearby.
A peaceful respite from days exploring Ithaca's amazing gorges, bike paths, and downtown restaurants. Drought conditions left the waterfalls and waterways quite dry. We would love to come back when the waters are flowing. Daily dips in the swimming hole at nearby Treman State Park provided relief from the heat. The house is very well equipped and we enjoyed fresh eggs and veggies from the garden. Mr. Banks, the resident dog, led us on trail walks down to the gorge on this very special property. Michelle was a wonderful and responsive host. Her hiking and biking advice was spot on!
The property is very cute, but we had a few issues. When we walked in, the property smelled very musty. We bought some febreeze which helped, but it was pretty pervasive, especially in the west bedroom with the double bed. The living room furniture is not very comfortable (likely because both pieces fold out to beds), so we did not spend much time sitting there. Also, the dining table is SO warped, you can barely place a drink on it without it sliding to the middle. We had some bug issues as well, just lots of bugs inside (screen doors were closed the whole time, but they are old and have holes). The kitchen is not very well appointed, only a few pots and pans and hardly any staples like oil etc. (though Michelle did leave us a bag of very delicious coffee beans, which was great). All that said, we got used to the property by the end of our week there, and felt very at home. The front porch is cute and gets a lot of sun. The record player is a great touch. And the property is really close to Ithaca and lots of surrounding parks and hikes, making it a great hub for seeing the area. Michelle was very responsive when we had an issue, and she gave me a tour of the garden and offered veggies to take back to the house. We saw tons of wildlife around ... bunnies and chipmunks in the yard, deer on the road into town, and lots of birds. The resident dog is a delight; he greeted us when we arrived and showed us around. I would definitely stay here again, but suggest stocking the kitchen a bit more and replacing the dining table.
Very attentive, friendly and helpful manager. You can enjoy beautiful nature, rabbits, hens, fish, garden and woods nearby. We had excellent experience here.
Loved this house, was so perfect for our time in Ithaca, central to everywhere we needed to be. Michelle communicated wonderfully. Will reccommend!
Our party of 6 was cozy in this well-appointed farmhouse. We enjoyed an easy ride to Cornell campus & downtown Ithaca during graduation weekend. The owner Michelle was super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the treat of farm fresh eggs and a beautiful setting and during some downtime we played the vinyl records and games that came with the house.
