We consider Farhaven to be a Cottage, not a Cabin. Cottages are more sophisticated. They have painted or papered walls. Cottages have modern facilities like water and electricity and appliances and central air conditioning.
Cabins have a more unfurnished and crude look as compared to cottages. Moreover, Cabins often do not have modern facilities.
Peaceful and clean. Property owner incredibly nice. Would book it again.
We rented the guest cottage for my bridal team and I the night before my wedding. Access was very easy, cottage was very spacious and private. Also extremely clean! Very much enjoyed our stay and highly recommend!
We reserved the Farhaven after a search for close location to Lost Maples State Reserve. Although we were early for the color foliage we had a marvelous time. The home had everything we could possibly need except an ice maker but knowing ahead of time we stopped to pick up a bag. I love the wonderful eclectic decor of the house. My favorite style. Lots of wonderful art. Everywhere I looked there was something new to take in as far as the art. The owners are absolutely the warmest most accommodating host we have ever had in a VRBO/B&B environment. Loved all the farm animals, the lovely hill country vegetation, star clad nights and beautiful wildlife abound.
Be sure to bring a map just in case. This is a lovely little cottage with ample space for two. It’s easy to get in and out and host Mark is very approachable and friendly. I enjoyed that I was such a quiet space and also that my cell phone didn’t work! Sounds odd to some but I needed to disconnect and Farhaven delivered. Recommend ??
In spite of the drought my husband and friend had a great time visiting, playing Mexican Train dominoes and singing while stargazing at night. The sky was beautiful with many stars but unfortunately only a few of the Perseids!!! Mark and Nancy are friendly and helpful.
Great cottage, wonderful hosts, and the best scenery in Texas!
We all enjoyed our stay at the cottage, it was so cozy and relaxing. We got to walk around tge property, catch fireflies at night, be around horses, and even watch the process of milking cows. The host is super friendly and helpful when needed. We will 100% be back.
I don’t understand why the property owners said it’s 15 dollars more a person when it was not thanks Virbo
This is our second time to stay here. We love the solitude and nature. This time Mark had cows and we got to watch them being milked. We also purchased a lot of produce from their farmer's market at the entrance. The asparagus, spinach and sprouts were delicious. The place is perfect for us. We like the separate bedrooms, because often one of us stays up later or gets up earlier and that way we do not disturb the other person's sleep. We will stay here again.
Beautiful property close to state parks, hosts were so kind and accommodating. Comfortable, cozy, unique place to stay. We had a great time!
We really enjoyed our stay at Farhaven. Mark was a pleasure to chat with and we enjoyed meeting his farm worker Christine. The location is close to several state parks and natural areas. The farm’s produce stand was delightful and we even used some of the produce in our Thanksgiving meal. We hope to return to Farhaven again sometime day!
Took family on vacation to Garner State Park. Stayed in Utopia at Mark and Nancy home; second time. Short Drive to Garner. Mark and Nancy are awesome people, very friendly. Home very clean and comfortable. Thank you Mark and Nancy!!
Good place to stay & enjoyed the quiet early mornings and star gazing at night. We thought it was a private cottage on the horse ranch land, but upon arriving realized it’s near the owners house and their ground keepers home. The owners were friendly & quick to respond with any questions/concern’s we had though.
Excellent hosts, great location, enjoyable stay. You'll be glad you stayed here.
Clean, comfortable, and quiet. King bed slept great and all other indoor and outdoor furniture was very comfortable. Loved the two recliners in the living room. And enjoyed the original western art / paintings on the walls. The hosts are friendly and helpful. As they pointed out to us well ahead of our arrival, the nearest major retail outlets are a one-hour drive away (in Kerrville or Uvalde). If you are a motorcyclist, be sure you are comfortable negotiating the ~450 yards of gravel driveway that leads in to the cottage from the paved county access road. Solid and well maintained driveway, but gravel nonetheless.
