Family-Friendly; Steps to Beach; Fabulous Backyard w/ Screened Porch, Expansive Back Deck & Fire Pit

Our family (2 young kids and 8 adults) took a long weekend away from the mountains to visit Isle of Palms, and we stayed at Whale of a Time. We chose this location because it was relatively close to the Francis Marion National Forest, where I was running a trail race on Saturday. We truly cannot speak highly enough of this rental home. It was spotless, well-maintained, and stocked with every amenity we could have needed. We loved the layout of the bedrooms and living spaces, and it provided the perfect communal setting for family meals and time together. The house was less than a 10-minute walk from the beach, which was absolutely incredible—uncrowded, beautiful, and blessed with perfect weather. Even my dad, a self-proclaimed anti-beach person, spent hours playing in the water with the kids multiple days in a row! This stay was exactly the reset our family needed for our annual beach trip. It was peaceful, relaxing, and full of great memories. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us. We hope to be back!

Thank you for a fantastic stay! This is our second stay on Isle of Palms and first time renting your home. The layout is perfect for our family, and we love the proximity to the beach and pavilion. We celebrated our daughter’s graduation, spent time together, and cannot wait to come back!

Don’t understand why there is a max on the parking spaces…There was room for 6 cars the garage maybe 8 and we were limited to only 4

House was wonderful and so well equipped. Nice bathrooms and comfy beds. Amazing seating inside and out. IOP rules with sound (any amplified sound 24 hour)and rules with numbers allowed inside, make it very difficult to enjoy the porches and house to see old friends, if they are not staying there. Why even have a TV with amplified sound on the porch or sleeping and seating for more then the numbers you allow. AC guidelines, 4 cars at a time. I would understand no parking on the street. Great house for some but not for those who love to entertain, have dinners with friends / family and listen to music outside…not even loud. Oh that’s vacation. House is great….too many rules!

Already missing my stay at Whale of a Time! The cozy and welcoming atmosphere really made staying in just as enjoyable as exploring the beautiful area where it's located. The scenic neighborhood was relaxing to bike/walk around and the beach is only a short walk away. We had a family trip this time, but I can see myself planning future guys trips here too! The floor plan with its centrally located living space really made it easy to come together and just as easy to get some privacy in the bedrooms at the opposite sides of the house. I felt like we had all the amenities we could want and the management/owner were very easy to work with. This will definitely be my go to spot next time I'm in Isle of Palms!

Absolutely lovely vacation rental. The area was beautiful, quiet and peaceful. We had 2 families and adult children and everyone had their own space and bathroom. The living areas were so comfortable with ample seating/lounging - was especially nice while we were all watching football. The outdoor area was so serene - the uncovered deck was fabulous for morning coffee and late night conversations around the fire pit. Such a cozy home - we’d definitely book this property again. My only suggestions would be to add luggage racks for each bedroom and also add towel hooks to each bathroom. Fabulous rental!!!

The pictures do not do this home justice. It is larger and more beautiful than it appears. The hosts thought of many details to create comfort and ease. There are extra blankets galore, the knives are very sharp for cooking, they have kid-friendly plates and cutlery, they have a shelf of recently published books, and there are beach toys and towels.The hosts were helpful to us in every way. Four generations of our family stayed from age 90 years to 20 months and everyone was comfortable and happy.Thank you for a beautiful stay. We came to the area to celebrate a family wedding and you made it lovely.We highly recommend this home and this host!

We absolutely loved our stay at Whale of a Time! The neighborhood is quiet, peaceful and lined with beautiful palm trees, with a great walking and bike path that loops through the area. The location couldn’t be better, the house is a short drive to Charleston and a quick walk to the beach and to Wild Dunes shops and restaurants. The house was spotless, spacious, and had such a welcoming feel. We especially loved the screened-in porch and spending time on the back deck. It was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway, and we can’t wait to come back!!! Best,

Our girls trip was so fun and we loved the house. Fully equipped and nice neighborhood! Very safe. A short walk to the beach and a thirty minute drive to Charleston. Whale of Time is the most perfect house for a large family. Plenty of space, a great layout and wonderful furnishings. The porch is an absolute dream. Itrip is also quick and responsive to any questions or needs. I rented this house for my sons’ ring/parents’ weekend at The Citadel and my fingers are crossed that I can rent it again for graduation.

The house was ideal to fit our whole family and such a close walk to the beautiful IOP beach to collect shells. The location was so convenient, grateful to not have to worry about beach traffic or parking every day. They had the perfect beach decor in the house, a fire pit area as well as a spacious deck area for grilling out at dinner, and a great screened porch for rainy day games and a nightcap. They even had a beach wagon and lots of beach toys for the kids that saved us having to pack ours. An amazing home. Comfortable for our large family. Pictures don’t do it justice. Large sitting areas. Large tvs. Large screened in patio that extends living space. Easy walk to the beach. You could load up the car and go park a little closer if you have Little’s and don’t want the longer haul. All the comforts of home too. The grill is great - air fryer - good set of pots and pans. Comfortable beds. Nice to have two masters and separate wings. Enough bathrooms for all. Large driveway. Great a/c. Beautiful area to walk or ride bikes.

This place was ideal for our group. Plenty of room and beds for our reunion. Kitchen was accommodating with most everything we need to prepare meals. Close to the beach. Great restaurants close by and the marina just around the corner for access to our boat. Golf at wild dunes links course 5 minutes away. Perfect location. We’ll be back next time we come to IOP.

We are so excited to have a place where friends and family can come together to make memories. We love the beach and all the activities that bring us together and all take away from the hustle and bustle of life! Charleston is so nice and has amazing restaurants and history. Came up for a girl's trip, 10 of us ladies! We had an awesome time! This house hosted us well an we made wonderful memories here this weekend! Some or all of us walked over to catch the sunrise each morning, meals were made, dancing and lots of laughs! We will definitely come back and remember our stay fondly! Our three children and their spouses, and children gathered for a family renunion for the first time since covid. We had a wonderful time at Whale Of A Time. Our youngest daughter live in Charleston so we love to come back!

Overall, this home was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. There were plentiful bedrooms and bathrooms, which suited the seven of us very well. There was a place inside for us to gather, a place outside on the deck for us together, and a place in a screened in porch for us together. Quite nice. My only hesitation from giving five stars was that with this lovely home and lovely amenities, the management seems to be rather stingy on superficial things. For instance, there wasn’t enough toilet paper for our stay. We only needed one or two more rolls, but had to deal with the harassment of going for more. Plus, it would be nice if there were a couple things in the cupboard, like I’ve seen at other VRBO homes. Absolutely nothing. No oil for the frying pan, no coffee for just the first night. For ourselves, we left our leftover jar of natural peanut butter in the cupboard. Will it be there for the next renters or will it be thrown out? By just spending a few more dollars, it would’ve been a little more convenient for us. But other than that, it was lovely. Very near the beach, and very pretty.

Whale of a Time provided a wonderful home base for our family vacation to Isle of Palms. My wife and I visited from New York with our two kids (ages 6 and 9) as part of an extended family gathering(10 total ranging from grandparents to kindergartners). We stayed for one week in mid-August and had never stayed in Isle of Palms before. The house was a very relaxing and functional place to relax after a full day of activities. We spent nights enjoying the open layout of the kitchen and family room and made good use of the grill and screened in porch. It was a short walk to the beach off 51st Ave, or a quick golf cart ride to the 21st Ave access point by the boardwalk. The shallow and warm water allowed the whole family to enjoy hours in the ocean. The location within the gated Wild Dunes community also offered a private and convenient place for morning walks. We made great family memories during our stay here and would highly recommend this property!
