The home was beautiful, and exactly as described. Our two grandchildren who are 7 and 3 had a great time. They did not want to leave. So much for them to do. Would definitely book again.

Cozy, clean, and incredibly comfortable—this place truly exceeded our expectations. The location is ideal: close enough to downtown Petoskey for easy access to shops and restaurants, yet tucked away enough to fully enjoy the beauty and tranquility of northern Michigan.The main living space sits level with the treetops, and the west-facing balcony offers stunning, tree-framed sunsets each evening. The cabin itself blends a classic rustic charm with modern, creative touches—especially in the recreation room. The “cabin within a cabin” concept is a brilliant use of space, giving kids an authentic camp-like experience they absolutely loved.The indoor rock wall and swing set were a huge hit with our active group, and the swim spa was the perfect way to unwind after long days at the nearby Fedorov Hockey Academy and skiing at Nubs Nob.Jason’s communication was outstanding from start to finish. We’re already looking forward to coming back, hopefully in the summer or fall, to experience a different season. Many thanks to Birch and Bark for such a memorable stay!

The space was perfect. Very clean and cozy. It had everything you’d want; entertainment space, relaxation space, and comfy sleeping spaces. All the beds were very comfortable. The owner communicated quickly with us. The hot tub is huge and very clean!

Jason and his family have created a lovely home away from home with stunning views and exceptional comfort. You can tell they have put much love and thought to their beautiful vacation home! We enjoyed every detail from the well stocked kitchen, comfortable bedding and towels, warm home decor, and over the top rec room for our kids! I cannot say enough about how perfect this house was for our family! We enjoyed our Spring Break ski vacation and look forward to returning! This was our second time staying for our annual ski trip with our 4 kiddos. They had been SO excited to return after our trip last year. It’s the perfect spot. So many fun things to do that the house after skiing all day, the owners have literally everything you need, down to the bath toys and sippy cups. Grandparents joined us again this year and there was plenty of room for everyone. It must be said that the house is also super relaxing! Very comfy and cozy beds and furniture and so nice to have a great area for kids to play while adults relax upstairs. And a 17 min drive to Nubs. We’ll definitely be back next year.

This house provided the family with plenty of room, the Master bed was very comfortable along with the pillows. They had many things to keep the family entertained with the amazing Hot tub/exercise pool, video game that had my favorite old timer game Galaga, pool and ping pong and a basketball shooting game. We enjoyed great family competitions and played cards and games around the big table. Just 10 minutes away you have downtown Petosky, we went sledding and ice skating at a park which also had a warming building. Location, comfort, activities and a kitchen that had the items we needed as we cooked all our meals there. One of my favorite parts of the house was the upstairs shower, it was amazing! We brought our dog and there was a fenced in yard and plenty of room for his zoomies outside and inside. Jason, the host was quick to reply with any and all questions. I would recommend this VRBO to others.

Everything was great. Well kept good condition home in a great area. Outside of petoskey a few miles, but still close enough to make a quick run into town. All rules and expectations were laid out in a nice book. The book also contains information about how to use various things around the house. It was a very pleasant experience.

The property and home is beautiful. My kids and grandkids had a great time. it feels like home and it has everything you need !

This place was incredible! Fun for kids, teens and adults alike! Super clean too. We loved everything about this place and will totally revisit! Another thing worth noting is how comfortable the beds and pillows were! We slept so good! The owners were very nice, kind and quick to respond too! Totally recommend staying here!

We had a wonderful stay at Birch and Bark Retreat! The house is private and spacious with a lot to do while staying on the property. The entire family (including our dog) had a blast playing games at the kitchen table and in the basement or relaxing in the hot tub. This was the perfect getaway location for a quick ski trip up to Northern Michigan! We will definitely be back!

This was our 13th annual Petoskey Christmas week end that started when our kids were in high school. We always stayed at Bay View Inn. Both are now married and have a toddler and infant. Bay View Inn does not scream bring your noisy toddlers and infants here. So this house was perfect for us. We never left to do our usual Petoskey things. The house was all we needed

We had an amazing stay at the Birch & Bark Retreat. It was the perfect place to relax and cozy up on the couch, but still close to Petoskey for a little day trip. All the amenities are great, it's a great place to have fun with 2 people or the whole family.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin! It is as beautiful as the pictures and the location was so quiet surrounded in woods. Jason was very easy to work with and quick to respond. We would definitely go again!

This was a prefect place to call home during fall break! Great location that is very secluded in the woods so you get that ambiance while only being 15 minutes from town. The home itself couldn’t have been more perfect - had everything we could have needed and so many special touches to make it feel like home. The rec room downstairs was amazing for a family of varying ages. Hosts were extremely responsive. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Very cozy and neat place! Lots of thing to do, including a children’s gym area and toys. Everything was clean upon arrival. I appreciate how well equipped and labeled the kitchen and home was. Will definitely rebook and recommend to family and friends.

The cabin was beautiful. They had everything you could imagine. It has an amazing game and theater room. We enjoyed sitting back watching movies in the evenings. The hot tub/exercise pool was amazing! Cabin very clean and spacious! Took my fur baby and he loved the fenced in back yard. Jason was very easy to contact and answered our questions quickly. We would definitely consider renting this property again.

I had a group of 9 girls and we really enjoyed our stay. The house is super cozy, plenty of room and had everything we needed. I would recommend this place.

Do not hesitate to book this property! They have thought of everything to make your stay super enjoyable with families in mind. When was the last time you saw a sky full of incredible stars, just listened to nature or sat around a fire?We did not want to leave! Beautiful home with so much to do for the young and old. Even our dogs gave it a 5 Woof review :)

The birch and bark cabin rental was all around awesome. The guest book made using everything easy, and Jason was wonderful to work with for any questions. The cabin layout is great for a family, beautiful wood working, stone work and the master bath is excellent. Stocked with everything you could need as well. We cooked most meals on the grill and the fire pit area is great The basement play area is the coolest, our kids loved it. Great location too. Looking forward to returning in the future. Well done!

Our family of 4 adults and 2 kids had ample space and an amazing time at this property. Very secluded and private and within 10-15 minutes from downtown Petoskey. The fun room for the kids was awesome and our kids loved it, as well as the swim spa hot tub. House was very neat and clean and had all the essentials. It was the perfect spot for our family vacation and we’re very grateful to have been able to book with you this summer.

We so loved our stay at Birch & Bark… we only had 3 nights there but could have easily had enough to do for a week. Very peaceful location but so close to many attractions as well. LOVED the playroom for our 3 & 6yos (and the adults greatly enjoyed it too, especially the arcade!) and the exercise pool was a big hit. It was SO nice to have toiletries, coffee pods, kid dishes and a high chair available and not have to haul our stuff with (we didn’t use but noticed a ton of great kids bath supplies as well). The upstairs shower was a 10/10 for relaxation/spa vibes, and what could be cozier than plaid carpet?!?? I’m in love with it! Upstairs patio hanging chairs were incredibly comfortable. This property is such a gem, and that alone would be enough to return, BUT the hosts reallyyyy made it 12/10! They are so organized- from the booking process to the guest manual with photos to the auto-logging out of TV devices to the door access codes (brilliant), they truly thought of everything and made things go seamlessly, and on top of that were super friendly as well. This was the best experience I have had with a vacation rental. Fun, clean and very professionally managed. I highly recommend.

We had a great stay at this property! The house was clean, cozy, and very family-oriented. It was thoughtfully stocked with essentials that made traveling with kids easy and enjoyable. My children especially loved the garage play area and the hot tub pool — definitely highlights of the house! Check-in was smooth and easy. We did have a small issue with one of the air conditioners in the living area, but the owner responded quickly and had an HVAC professional out in no time. It was 93 and humid during our stay, so we were very grateful for the fast resolution.A couple of things to note for future guests: the bedroom with the bunk beds are located is more of a converted closet and does not have direct air conditioning. Thankfully, a fan was provided to help circulate the air, which was much appreciated during the heat. Also, the garage playroom — while fun and well-equipped — is not air-conditioned. On hot and humid days, it did get quite warm, which made it uncomfortable for one of our family members to sleep in the adjacent bedroom.Despite those minor issues, the property was a fantastic choice for our family, and we truly enjoyed our stay.

Birch and Bark retreat is a great summer getaway for the family. It’s well stocked with almost anything you could need for a stay with the family. I appreciated all the helpful notes and handbook to help operate everything. We will definitely be back next year.

My family LOVED this property. We've rented many houses, but this is our favorite. It truly is designed for families. Our 4 year old played on the jungle gym and enjoyed the bath toys. Our 8 year old played ping pong and basketball. Our 10 year old loved the arcade games. All three played with the bouncy balls, stepping stones, hot tub, and board games. The adults enjoyed the comfy movie style chairs, hot tub, pool table, and the wilderness around the property. We also loved that it was 15 minutes from Petoskey. It was spotless and had great amenities. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends and family!!

Had an amazing time .The cabin was just as beautiful as it was in the pictures. It was perfect for my family of 10!!! So many things for the kids to do and plenty of room for the rest of the family to just sit and relax and enjoy!!! Couldn’t have been a better vacation.

The rec room was downstairs, the grandkids loved it. We couldn’t even hear them playing games downstairs when we were upstairs. The king bed was super comfy. The upstairs shower was amazing! Jason was always quick to respond if we had any questions. Very helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

This place is just as described. Plenty of activities indoors for all ages. Kids didn’t want to leave the recreation room. I didn’t want to leave the cozy living room with the fireplace. When a storm came through and knocked the power out, the owners tried their very best to help us. I am truly impressed by their dedication to making this property a home away from home.

We escaped to this beautiful house for our spring break with lots of kids. The house was perfect with lots of things to keep them all busy. We used the hot tub/pool, played on the indoor swing set, played pool, ping pong, and basketball, and played games / did puzzles. Every detail was thought of, so we were able to cook there every night. They even had things you wouldn’t normally think of like a food scale. Will definitely stay again!

Every detail was thought of when the hosts planned for the guests staying in the home. Cozy, spacious living area and kitchen. Kitchen had all the necessary items to cook and bake even sharp knives😊. Incredibly comfortable sectional with additional pillows and blankets for lounging. Beds were fantastic and bedding was Ritz Carlton quality. The recreation room is a children’s indoor playground. We were all adults so enjoyed the hot tub and soaker tub. Good water pressure and I could go on and on. Jason was attentive and easy to communicate with. We will be back.

This home is absolutely lovely. There was so much snow while we were there, the kids loved climbing the large mounds and pretending to be snow leopards. The home is warm and cozy. We had fun playing video games, table tennis, doing puzzles, and swimming in the hot tub.
