Description

Rancho São Carlos (RSC) is an excellent property built in the 1940s. It has belonged to the Azevedo Family for 50 years and can comfortably accommodate 16 guests. There are three separate rooms, which can be booked in full or separately. The reservation includes the Main House, which sleeps 8 guests, the Maisonette (6 guests) and the Chalet (2 guests), large garden, Campo Belo river natural pool, wood-burning sauna, waterfalls, trails, and a chapel . Now we also have a nice gourmet space with barbecue, oven and wood stove and equipped kitchen. The dining area has a large spacious table.

The RSC is located near and within the lower part of Itatiaia National Park, which can be accessed via a 30m bridge. There are more than 60,000 m2 of native Atlantic Forest in the Lower Part of Itatiaia National Park. Housekeeping, cleaning and cooking are included, plus breakfast.

We also serve too many meals when previously requested. Try Dona Lúcia's excellent feijoada. You will not regret.

Main House:

Little House:
Cozy and comfortable, sleeps up to 6 guests in 2 bedrooms, one bedroom with a double bed and another bedroom with a double bed and 2 single beds; It has a shared bathroom. Glazed room with armchairs, pay TV (Sky), Wi-Fi and lawn view.

Chalet:
Ideal for couples, spacious and with great privacy. View of Campo Belo River, pay TV and Wi-Fi.

I have rented vacation homes with my family for almost 10 years and I can honestly say that Rancho São Carlos is a very rare piece of property on this market. It is absolutely unique, next to Brazil’s oldest national park – one of the few surviving examples of the Atlantic Rain Forest (Mata Atlântica). The ranch is cut by a pristine river that forms a gorgeous pool, large enough for plenty of swimming and diving. Sweating up in the wood burning sauna and jumping into the cool river is just awesome. The grounds are beautiful and the accommodations are charming. The main house and smaller shed are rustic, yet well-equipped, clean and comfortable. Marcos is a great guy, easy to work with, and the staff at the ranch is professional and helpful. If you are lucky like we were, you might also be visited by a family of capuchin monkeys! I highly recommend this place.
