Amasa, Michigan
Welcome to Double Eagle Lodge located remotely in the heart of Michigan's pristine Upper Peninsula. Escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life with a trip into the great outdoors. No cellphone reception or Internet connection allows you to relax in the quiet of nature. This quaint log cabin is located on the shores of Long Lake. Though the lodge is 13 miles from the nearest electricity source, the solar panels and back up generator charge the battery bank to give the comforts of home while preserving the natural sounds of the surroundings. This log cabin sleeps six total, with four single beds in the loft and a queen size bed in the private bedroom downstairs. The cabin is equipped with indoor plumbing including a flush toilet and a shower, as well as a fully functioning kitchen. There is a separate building for the propane fired sauna and a second shower.
With the exception of the owner’s cabin there are no other cabins on the lake. Long lake has excellent fishing with Walleye, Bass, Perch and Northern Pike, which are the most predominant fish. If one is quiet, there are plenty of wildlife to catch a glimpse of such as moose, deer, bear, wolves, coyote, beaver, otter and many birds – including bald eagles nesting nearby. If you enjoy kayaking or canoeing, one can paddle up and downstream until beaver dams are reached. One can hike, mountain bike, swim, snowshoe, and snowmobile all day and may not see another human. Finally, at the end of the day everyone can relax sitting around the fire pit watching the sunset and roasting S'mores. Once the fire dies down the night is truly dark with no influence of city lights. The stars are incredibly clear and bright!
Available on the property for your use are 2 kayaks with paddles, a paddle boat, and a fishing boat! What else could you ask for.

Double Eagle is a great blend of untouched natural beauty and the creature comforts that make your stay comfortable and accommodating. Owner is very responsive and the care taker, Clay, is very helpful and always great to talk too. The cabin is filled with Cabin Charm and there are endless opportunities to fish, hike, view wildlife, spend time, on or just looking at, the lake, or enjoying the sauna. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the hectic pace of modern life.
Up here for annual trip. Always enjoy staying here and unplugging from technology.
Always a treat. The UP at its best
Double Eagle is truly a jewel in the north woods! Every aspect of our experience here was on a level all by itself! We have traveled all over Ontario for 30 years. What we have been looking for is all right here the UP USA. The best hands down!
Great opportunity to get off the grid and relax! Kids had a great time fishing.
The cabin, the woods, the lake… it was all beautiful. This was the perfect location for my family and I to disconnect from our electronics and create some beautiful memories. The cabin kitchen was well stocked with the pots, pans, utensils to cook some great meals. There was also a board game in the cabin that we really enjoyed playing in the evenings.
Double eagle has Everything that i like in a vacation remote location, good fishing, and a nice cabin
We love the peace and quite of Double Eagle Lodge. This is our second time staying here and hope to come back in a few years. We spent most of our time fishing on the boat and also used the kayaks a couple days. The Wilderness kayaks were very comfortable. Was able to use with my 4 yr old sitting in front of me. We caught tons of northerns, some large and small mouths, a few small perch and bluegill...None of us wanted to leave as it was such a relaxing trip. The cabin had everything we needed and would definitely recommend.
We absolutely loved our stay at Double Eagle Lodge! The cabin itself was very well appointed and had everything we needed so we didn't have to go into town for anything other than groceries. Directions were very thorough, which was extremely helpful since service drops out completely a couple miles in off the main highway. Laura sent this info and various other details before our trip so we had all the info needed prior to our arrival. The caretaker, Clay, also checked in on us after we arrived to make sure we were good to go. We cooked meals, kayaked the lake, read stories from the U.P. book, played games on the screen porch, had campfires, and marveled at some amazing sunsets. It is THE spot if you want to recharge and disconnect but still have the comforts of indoor plumbing, a comfy bed, and a roof over your head. Sure, the bugs (mosquitoes and flies) were bad at times, but it was July. Bring your bug spray arsenal, wear long sleeves and pants, and plan your time outside in the summer accordingly. The screened in porch at dusk and a campfire in the evening helped immensely. Overall, our stay at Double Eagle Lodge was the favorite stop of our trip across the U.P. We will definitely be returning!
This place is very secluded which is what we were looking for I HOPE THIS PROPERTY STAYS THE WAY IT IS there were no other people in the area other then logging crews. Beautiful area, fishing was wonderful, kids enjoyed catching fish they have not caught before. The mosquitoes were very bad but it was definitely a bad year for them. This place is located in a place where you can find many waterfalls and things to do within an hour or 2 drive. The cabin is very well taken care of and clean. This place offers a lot of fun or relaxation. There is no cell service until you make it out 13miles to the main road which is great and the kids lived through it lol. Next time we visit it will have to be longer already miss this place definitely will be coming back and sending friends to experience this wonderful place.
Could not be more happy with our stay at your cabin. I’m looking forward to coming back next year.
Cabin was perfect: off the grid, fishing was good, weather great, surrounding area full of wildlife. Great communication with owners. Only drawback were the mosquitoes!
We loved our stay here! The cabin truly is a great place to “get away” from the busy everyday life. Our family was able to fully enjoy the quiet, beautiful land! Lots of hikes and playing in the snow! We also enjoyed the wood stove in the cabin with games and reading. Thank you!
For those who want to get away from it all, but still have some luxuries like lights, indoor plumbing, and a sauna, the Double Eagle Lodge will definitely hit the mark. A classic cabin in a remote location; it truly makes you forget the hustle and bustle of the modern world.
Wow this was a gem!…Was just a beautiful time to rewind and relax. Lucked out with beautiful weather and was able to take in all the fall colors. Had everything we needed and did not feel the need to leave. Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with us!…till next time!
We have used Double Eagle for the last several years as a bird hunting outpost and it is everything you need and more for a UP retreat experience. Have become good friends with Clay and his family as they are great and welcoming host.
My family stayed here for my wedding nearby. The cabin was beautiful and had everything needed for the weekend. The options to use the boats was amazing to have easy access to the lake.
This was exactly what we were looking for, and better then we expected. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We didn't leave the property during our 5 night stay. We spent our days fishing on the boat and evenings relaxing in the cabin. We hope to return in the future and only dream about having a similar setup of our own someday.
Awesome time and exactly as described!!!
Our stay at the Double Eagle Lodge was unforgettable. From the moment we turned off the main road, we knew this experience would be different. The remote location, along with the property's incredible amenities, is what made this stay so special. It was wonderful to feel how long and filled a day can be, away from any of the cellular distractions. We cooked simple meals, read a LOT, fished, walked and swam. Best for us was paddling the lake in the kayaks, which we did several times and a different times of the day. This is a special place, and we hope to return. The cabin has everything you need. Just go slowly on the roads, and pack plenty of provisions. Once you are there, you won't want to leave! Thank you for offering this beautiful Northwoods spot!
Beautiful cabin, remote wilderness setting & lots of wildlife sightings, eagles , bears, grouse, kingfishers ond other wildlife.
This was our fifth stay at Double Eagle. It keeps getting better. The owners continue to add touches to the cabin. Everything you need while off the grid is here, plus some. There have been more boats added—at least 3 or 4 fishing boats now plus the two kayaks. Everything is kept in working order. Our fishing was fantastic this time as bass and pike were hungry coming out of the winter. My sons, son in law, and nephew all had a great time, as did our dogs. What a piece of wilderness paradise this is! Laura and Matthew are great owners and work to keep their guests happy. We’ll be doing #6 before too long.
