Tree houses have something to say. They speak in an ancient language, and the message is universal: climb up and be in harmony with Nature.
Let go of earthbound encumbrances and be free. You may not be young enough any more to climb a tree, branch by perilous branch, but so what
The important thing is being in the tree not how you get up in it. (Peter Nelson and Garry Hadden).

A unique experience, living in a giant rubber tree, nestled in its branches, with nature all around you. Fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle and wake up in luxury. Topo's Tree House has 2 decks, with an extra 3rd little deck to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening cocktail while looking out into the jungle's tree tops and flora. You might even share this moment with a passing sloth!
The 1st floor has a beautiful tropical wood deck, with carved posts and one side which is completely a wall of the giant tree's roots, creating a mosaic of shapes, twists and turns. There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, bathroom and terrace over-looking the tropical pond with its orchids and lilies. Relax in the hammock while watching parrots, hummingbirds and toucans as they fly by.
On the 2nd deck, there is a another living room on the open air terraced with a spectacular view looking over the canopy of trees and plants. The 2 bedrooms are adjacent to the living room, each with its own window opening out into the tree's branches. The main bedroom has a 4 poster-bed with a full Queen orthopaedic mattress, lots of pillows and a mosquito net draping over it, lamps and a security safe box. The other bedroom has 2 twin beds with mosquito nets and lamps. A large bathroom with 2 sinks, a full shower with glass doors, elegant tiles and beautiful hardwood cabinets.
The 3rd deck has its private little terrace with iron wrought chairs and table , feel completely enveloped in the trees living branches with hanging orchids.
On the 1st floor, an outside shower is found in between the trees roots.
Comforts are found everywhere, from the hot running water, fully equipped kitchen, wireless Internet, flat screen Satellite TV, outdoor BBQ, to a big fridge.
The large tropical gardens have been landscaped for years but retain their natural attraction. They have been nourished to be the home for different species of birds, poison dart frogs (harmless to humans by the way!), inviting sloths monkeys and butterflies. The tropical gardens are a home to much of the local wildlife. Little ponds for fish and turtles, bromeliads for frogs and flowers for butterflies. Stroll through this magical garden, truly a little Garden of Eden.
At only 200 mt. down the little sand road lies the beach of Playa Negra. A well known beach for surfers. The coconut trees, the beach, the surfers, swimmers and the famous 'Reggae Bar' make it a great place to relax and enjoy life. Sit on the open air terrace of 'Reggae Bar' over-looking the beach, feel the breeze as it moves through the palm leaves, enjoy a Pina Colada and the local dish of Coconut Chicken with Rice & Beans or a fresh Redsnapper grilled on the BBQ. Friday nights are 'Live Music' dance and move to the vibes of Reggae, Calypso and Blues. For the younger generation hit the town! The streets are full of locals and tourists dancing and having fun to the music of Reggae Dancehall.

We stayed from January 7th to January 14th 2023. The tree house is beautiful! The setting is ideal, you are surrounded by jungle and you can hear the waves at night. The animals came to us! On the first day, we saw sloth (in the treehouse tree), lesser capiberra, toucan, silver monkey, howler monkey, large iguana, and BATS (they live in the treehouse with you). Topo informed me the the drive from San Jose was too long for the time we arrived (10pm) and advised us to stay the night in San jose. I attempted to make the reservation change several weeks prior and he rejected to change stating it was too late (Vbro policy states otherwise). When we arrive, Topo was clearly annoyed that we did not arrive on Saturday..... Topo gave us a tour of the beautiful treehouse and in that tour it was discovered that several lights did not work, and there was an electrical short in the bathroom light. Topo also pointed out that he needs to install anti slip tape on the stairs because they are slippery when dry and get wet when it rains ( yes my wfe and I both slipped but no injury) Topo stated that he needed to fix them but never did. After he left, we noticed that there were mice droppings in many locations. The main areas of the treehouse are open to the jungle. You need to realize this prior to staying incase you are not comfortable with bats, lizards, mice, cockroaches, etc. I fell thru the floor due to poor construction and maintenance.

WOW! This place is gorgeous! I highly recommend. You do have to be ok with nature coming into your place as it is open air. We had fruit bats that camped in the tree that chirped at us in the morning! They were absolutely adorable!

The house was incredible! So beautifully constructed. Unlike anywhere we’ve ever stayed. Was comfortably furnished and inviting. Kitchen is available for cooking and our host provided a few drinks. The yard was fantastic with all sorts of animals and birds. The entire place is open to the elements except bedrooms, which have an ac unit in each and the bathrooms are also closed.Cannot say enough about how unique an experience this was. Highly recommend.Host was wonderful and very helpful. Met us at a nearby restaurant/bar and personally escorted us to property and gave a lovely tour and explanation. Property is also located within about 20 mins of other towns and activities. Great location!

Topo’s treehouse was amazing! The kids loved it…parents did too! We saw several red eyed frogs, red and green poison dart frogs and many birds. Quick walk to the beach and reggae beach bar. Highly recommend! One of the coolest places we’ve ever stayed!

This location is perfect. Where else can you go from rainforest to beach in walking distance? The black sand is so soft and shines with opalescence. the people are all wonderful. You get to hear all the animals sing you a lullaby. I got one bug bite and that's it. You can even walk to the square and national park or ride a bike. The location is just beautiful. I will definitely be back. Topo is super cool meet him at a bar for a drink.

Don’t pass this experience up! Such a special treehouse created with incredible care and respect for all creatures. We were like kids in wonder and amazement from the beautiful sites and sounds all around us all the time while we stayed. We saw Tucans, leaf cutter ants, many wild birds, the sounds of howler monkeys off in the distance in the morning. We felt like we were on the set of Jurassic Park. We cooked many dinners there…this place has everything you need. The bar up the street called “Raggae Bar” is a must stop for dinner or lunch! Food was so delicious! We would definitely stay again!

Topo’s treehouse is one to not miss !When you go in it is like entering into a fairytale! The detail that went into this is truly amazing .The bedrooms were very cool with AC units ,and even the outdoor spaces were comfortable and not at all buggy like you may think it would be since it is outdoors. The hammocks were a great place to relax in the treehouse also. The property is absolutely gorgeous and a short walk to the beach and Reggae bar.Topo could not have been any more kind ,helpful .and friendly. I highly recommend Topo’s treehouse adventure !

Wake up refreshed to the calls of birds. Watch toucans in the trees off your deck. Spot the agouti while relaxing in a hammock. Witness the daily routines of the friendly fruit bat family. Take a short walk to the soft sand beach and the Reggae Bar. See sloths in the trees near town. Walk or drive less than a mile to the unforgettable Cahuita Natl Park, with its own beautiful beaches and abundant wildlife. Eat in town at Restaurante Pizzeria Cahuita, with its beautiful seaside deck. If you're ok with a natural experience and some creepy crawlies (e.g. cockroaches in the bedrooms in the evening) then you will be rewarded with an authentic and unforgettable Costa Rican getaway. Don't forget the binoculars!

I have rented 3 separate treehouses and this is the only one that is truly in a tree! The house itself is better than what is listed and the property is amazing. Great location to do everything or nothing. Topos was so helpful in assisting us with everything from surf lessons to fixing a flat tire. Thank you for a very memorable stay, we will return!

What an experience of a lifetime! Literally in the jungle with open views and new things to be seen everyday. Topo is an amazing host and very accommodating. After a long day of travel we had water fruits and imperial (Costa rican beer) waiting for us. Bring bug spray and be prepared to embark on memories that will last a lifetime! Pura Vida!

Our family of four (Mom, Dad, girls 10 & 13) stayed here four nights in late March. First, I will agree with many reviews I had read that living in a tree house is a unique fun experience. There were three sloths living in the tree which we really enjoyed. Also a family of bats and many other critters, poison dart frogs, large bugs, and geckos came to visit. Topo's dog Shaila was also a friendly welcomed visitor every morning. Topo provided a welcome pack of juices, fruit, and a couple of beers. That was nice. However, there were some things we wish were different and better. There was only one kitchen towel provided, which can be a problem when laundry doesn't dry because of the humidity. We had to use some of the beach towels provided to get by. The was no can opener. The knives provided were extremely dull. There was a sharpening steel, but it didn't have an edge so couldn’t sharpen anything. And no extra paper products. There were two partial rolls of toilet paper when we arrived, one per bathroom, but after that we were told we had to supply our own. Another thing that made us question the overall value is the condition of the unit. Mostly, the tree house is in great shape. However, some of the floor boards on the first floor need to be repaired or replaced due to rot. It’s an open environment so water is going to enter the structure, but it should also be maintained. There was a lot of flex to certain areas of the first floor and the wood walk way leading to the tree house, that made us feel uneasy. We knew we were paying a premium to stay at such a unique place, and it is unique and the location is good, but the lack of basic necessities and lack of maintenance made us feel that the value wasn’t there.
