Memphis, Tennessee
Elvis Presley designed and financed this home for his doctor. Located in an upscale East Memphis neighborhood, it has been restored and furnished to its 1970's charm. It has an upstairs suite built for Elvis (he never stayed there) but he would play racquetball late in evening with Dr Nick and his son Dean. It is the perfect place for a large group traveling to Memphis or that Elvis fan visiting Memphis.
The feeling is all retro just the way it was in the 70's plus a few modern upgrades like 8 flat screen tv's and new appliances.
It is very spacious with a huge den downstairs, banana plant solarium, living room with wet bar plus bonus "game" room overlooking the racquetball court including a shuffleboard table. One master has adjoining library another master has a pool view and access. The upstairs master was Elvis's suite.
All other bedrooms have Smart TV's and shared bathroom access.
(NOTE: the upstairs has 3 bedrooms and access to only 1 bathroom, an additional full bathroom is located in the game room for those staying upstairs to use)
We loved our stay at this property! Our daughter was married at the The Dixon Gallery and Gardens which was close to the house. The bridesmaids got ready here before the wedding and it was such a unique and fun setting! The bar served endless mimosas and the large kitchen space was able to display a delicious breakfast buffet. The little ones (and really all of the adults, too) had so much fun on the racquetball court and playing the Elvis pinball machine. Everyone enjoyed the pool and the outdoor area, as well. Can’t say enough good things about this property! Would definitely stay again! Oh! Ask about the Rolls in the garage!
We gathered for a weekend as a family to celebrate a Birthday. This property was perfection in every way! Inside it is spacious with a retro vibe and the outdoor area and pool were put to good use in the Memphis heat. The kitchen and bedrooms are good sized and are well equipped.. I would highly recommend this property.
We enjoyed the uniqueness of the house. The decor brought back memories of the 70’s. Knowing that Elvis was here was special. Although the house does need some updating, but not destroying the integrity of the original house, we thoroughly enjoyed our week here. Thank you for preserving the past.
The house is fantastic for entertaining and a large family group. It is fully stocked with everything need including sun tan lotion. Great pool and lots of room. The house needs a little TLC but i would stay there again and recommend it.
We loved this place! Our group of eight lifelong friends thoroughly enjoyed our 7 night stay in this exceptionally clean rental. It had everything we wanted including 5 bedrooms with their own bathrooms and a pool. In addition, a Kuerig and a coffee pot, beach towels and an abundance of glassware, dinnerware, knives, silverware and serving trays were provided. We enjoyed playing the Elvis pinball machine and the shuffleboard table. We spent much of our time in the beautiful pool area. It is surrounded by tall trees making it very secluded. We were delighted with the variety of bright, colorful birds. The owners did a great job in mixing the old with the new, keeping some period-appropriate while updating when necessary to ensure the comfort of their guests. Jim and Dallas exuded southern hospitality. They were warm and friendly and responded promptly to my queries but respected our privacy for the length of our stay.
Our family loved the house! It was a great place to stay for our quick Graceland trip with our group. The racquetball, Elvis pinball machine, Pac Man and pool were huge hits and we didn't even have any kids in the group! Very easy process for booking and check in and out was nice too. It was a blast!
Our group of 12 loved staying in this beautiful home! It was so spacious and interesting. A few of us played racquetball and we all enjoyed the Elvis connectionz
This was our 12th destination race as we had 11 runners race the St. Jude half marathon. It is so much fun to stay together in a house compared to separate hotel rooms. We need to come back in the summer time and enjoy the pool area, it looked like a great place to hang out after a run.
My family had so much fun at this bit of Memphis and Elvis culture! The house is older but the large space, racquet ball court, pool and neighborhood makes you overlook the age! Maggie greeted us there at check in and was such a delight! Mr. Walker soon came over to assist us with the tv, all had cable and steaming! It’s a perfect house for a family get together! Our kids want us to mention the bathroom heated floors rock! Our family of 7 enjoyed the whole Labor Day weekend stay!
12 of our family and very close friends met in Memphis and enjoyed the house immensely! The weather was great and we spent a lot of time at the pool; however, if we had had rain, there would have been room for us all to play games and visit together. Dallas, our host, was very attentive and offered ideas to do around Memphis. She also told us interesting stories that involved the history of the house. Thank you for sharing such a unique property!
This house has absolutely everything you might need. Beautiful neighborhood. My entire family was very impressed. The pool temperature was perfect and the racquetball court were the best of our vacation. Definitely coming back!
This house offers you the unique chance to live as Elvis might have in 1976. The furniture (low sofas , chairs on wheels and chairs shaped like hands), oversized lamps, blue porcelain sinks and sun burst clocks are all from the 70s. We found the best part of the house to be the backyard pool area. The backyard is strung with white lights and features a lot of different seating options for a large group. The kitchen was well stocked with glasses, plates and platters- retail stores have fewer options than we had at this house! Unfortunately the pinball machine was broken and the shuffleboard game was uneven- making it unplayable for our visit. The racquetball court was a fun diversion though. One bathroom did have a hole in the shower where old shower head used to be as well as some mold on the floor, but rest of the house was pretty clean. Neighborhood is lovely and house is pretty close to most attractions.
We really enjoyed the pool and racquetball court. There were a few minor things we needed assistance with but management was very responsive and accommodating.
We stayed at the property for a weekend family event and the house was amazing! The history of the house makes it even more special and that it has been so well maintained and preserved. The host was very communicative and responsive. I highly recommend this property for any group visiting Memphis!
