New London, Connecticut
Welcome to our charming, art-filled four-bedroom home in Lower New London, an eight minute walk to the beach. This 1930 Dutch Colonial is uniquely situated within walking distance of three bodies of water: we are 200 yards from Alewife Cove, which flows out to the sea and can be explored with a kayak; two and a half blocks from the Thames River, where you can stroll along the shore and to the lighthouse dated 1761 (the first built on Long Island Sound); and four blocks from the immensely popular Ocean Beach Park, with its marvelous white-sand beach, boardwalk, waterslide, Olympic-size swimming pool, amusement park rides, diner/gift shop, miniature golf, nightly concerts, and arcade. Or walk to the neighborhood grocery store, colorful local hangout, the Egg Yolk Café, or the historic Lighthouse Inn.
This vintage home is loaded with original molding and hardwood floors throughout. The first floor has a living room, dining room, kitchen, half bath, and sunroom/office for those who may still need to work while away. There is also a recently tuned piano and stereo. Upstairs is a full bath and four bedrooms (one queen, one full, and two twins). Although it does not have central air conditioning, it has AC units in three of the bedrooms and wonderful ocean breezes. The house sleeps six and is fully equipped with linens, towels, pots and pans, utensils, and dishes as well as a coffee maker, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, high chair, and gas range. There is a WiFi-enabled Smart TV, as well as numerous novels and children’s books, board games, beach towels/chairs/toys/umbrella, and a cooler. There is a washer/dryer and iron/ironing board in the basement. The back garden is set up with wicker furniture and a Weber barbecue. Note: We do not have a pool on the property; there is a public pool down at Ocean Beach Park.
A parking pass for Ocean Beach Park is included with the rental.
Note: After each guest's visit, our home is thoroughly restocked, cleaned, and sanitized by a professional cleaning service.
Welcome to the Dutch House!

We had a great time here. It was our jumping off point to a variety of places relatively close by. The beach pass saved some $$, too. If you are looking for relaxing, avoid the beach on the weekend! The house was exactly as described. It has everything you'll need except groceries. Pay attention to the details. The day we arrived it was in the mid 90's. The house was hot - not a surprise, though. The description clearly indicates the A/C situation so no-one should be complaining about that. Definitely recommend!
My family and I rented this property for 2 weeks in July. I utilized the fabulous office space for those two weeks while my teenagers hung out at Ocean Beach Park, just a few blocks away. The house was perfect for our extended stay, and had everything we could/would need. Paper supplies, linens, towels, detergent, etc. The neighbors are super friendly, and the neighborhood is nice and quiet. Our check-in process was very easy, utilizing the door code for entry to the home. Although the downstairs is not air conditioned, the cross breeze always kept the downstairs cool. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a getaway next to the beach!
We had a great time and loved staying at this house. Super clean, cute and our kids loved having their own bedrooms. Hosts were fantastic and gave us great ideas of things to do while in town.
The house was perfect for what we needed. Lovely location and a beautiful beach nearby with the beach pass was great.
It was a wonderful space for us and our son and grandchildren. Neighbors were very nice . Only minutes to beach and arcade for children.
This home is thoughtfully done and very comfortable. A close distance to Ocean Beach Park but yet you're also in a quaint neighborhood surrounded by nice neighbors.
Lovely house, walking distance from the beach. Backyard with grill for a relaxing social distancing hangout.
My friends and I stayed here for the week and couldnโt have asked for a better home to spend time together. A few minutes from the beach, a wonderful area. Highly recommend!!
Great, well designed home close to beach and other local attractions. Nicely appointed and cozy.
