Tallahassee, Florida
An eclectic home away from home. Diverse ideas and style from a broad range of sources and millennia. If you thrive on creativity, diversity and a bit of controversy, you may love this house. This is not the Holiday Inn. Expect the unexpected.
The house has been remodeled and I am working on a breakfast room, a back deck/cistern and carport with a solar panel roof. There is some construction happening outside though not while guests are present.

The house was clean, it was bigger and more open which allowed us to share time with family as we prepared and enjoyed a wonderful family wedding event. Philip was a great host helpful in many ways in the house had so many eclectic and interesting things to Enjoy. Many great memories were made during this stay.
Great house and short drive to FSU. Philip was very helpful and great with communication. Thanks for the great stay!
Philip was a gracious host. He welcomed us to his place by giving us a tour, explaining things including the coffee grinder for the beans that he provided. There were lots of vegan snack options, fruit, and fresh herbs for the picking at the home for guests along with fruit trees on the property. The location of the home was right in midtown Tallahassee - close and convenient to all sorts of activities, dining, and tourism. The furnishings were similar to bunking at a friends rather than a 5 star hotel, but were reasonable and provided what we needed for 4 adults and 2pups! Nice stay at a place with a different type of vibe! We would definitely use again when visiting Tallahassee!
This house met our basic needs. We were attending a conference and used the property like a hotel room for two nights. The house is undergoing some renovations and the kitchen walls were only partially there resulting in significant gaps. To us the furnishings were more cobbled than eclectic, but that is a matter of taste. There were TV's in both bedrooms but no TV in the living room which made watching TV together impossible. When we first arrived we were so disappointed by the place that we discussed leaving before unpacking. But since we knew we would only be there to sleep, shower and change clothes we decided to stay. Obliviously this property was not to our liking, but we are probably in the minority judging by the comments in the guestbook. The property manager, Joshua, was very nice, but was unable to solve the front door lock problem before our departure. The lock worked fine when we went out and came back the first night. When we returned from dinner the second night the lock would not unlock. It took 15 minutes of turning the key with varying amounts of pressure to finally get the lock to open. We used the deadbolt overnight, but had to leave the front door unlocked the next morning while we attended our last meeting. We considered taking our suitcases to the meeting but decided to come back to the house to change before starting our 5-hour drive home. Thus we left nothing of real value while the door was unlocked. Still, very unsettling. There is a great selection of coffee, a drip coffee maker and a French press.
We enjoyed staying at Philip’s place so much. The place is so peaceful and simple. Philip provided even more than we were expecting. We felt we were staying at an old friend’s place. Yet having privacy and quiet time. We loved it and definitely will be back often.
