We love the bay and the area around Cape Charles and this makes our 5th trip to the area for a family Vacation. This house was adequate but was not as clean and kept as we have come to expect. The main shower was moldy, the windows about the house had not been washed and the screens torn. The down stairs bedrooms were Sandy and the vacuum when we tried to use did not work. The kitchen is well stocked and I know this house was loved at one time. The appliances all worked well and the double oven helped w a large family. We did enjoy the beach and that is really what a beach Vaca is about. The walkway and deck was an added bonus and we did try to bring up some sand to help with that 1st step off the beach. We had gorgeous weather and we had a wonderful time, this is a beautiful house that needs to be loved as it once was. I would give the house a rating of 3 and the beach a 5.
The property is in a perfect location, only a stones throw from the beach. This place is perfect for any family get away. Everyone in my family was impressed with this place and we had such a memorable weekend. The staff was easy to communicate with and they were dedicated to making sure our stay was relaxing and enjoyable as possible. We will definitely stay here again.
- Great getaway, especially with kids, probably for bird watchers too. - The beach is sandy, which is not the norm in the Chesapeake, so it is worth going that far South on the DelMarVa peninsula. The water in front of the house is shallow, though I would check rip currents once you're there. - As noted by others, the master's quarters are gigantic (one single room basically on a full floor with bathroom and pull-up sofa). The second biggest bedroom will feel small in comparison but very comfortable and also has a view. The last 2 bedrooms are more simple. - Great open floor plan with large terraces. Great for groups / large families.
The home was beautiful! The views from the decks were amazing. The management company was amazing. Any issues we had, he fixed in a timely manner. WiFi was horrible at the beginning, but the management company came and updated all the routers and it worked perfect after that. The house is well stocked with all pots, pans and dishes. The beach was great. We could walk out about a half mile during low tide and it was still at our ankles. Fishing isn't the best since the water isn't very deep. The water was very warm compared to our New England water. Our group had a very good time and we were very pleased with the management company!
The house and setting are fabulous. But some glitches prevent it from being a five star place. The setting and the view are spectacular. We enjoyed the sunsets from the expansive decks. The living space is expansive and has wonderful views. The beach is very nice and very private. Bedrooms are reasonable but comfort of the beds was just average. The downstairs bed was not comfortable according to our daughter who slept there. The kitchen was wonderfully equipped - best we have experienced in a rental home. The house is older, maintenance is OK - some burned out light bulbs and some of the toilets ran continuously. The biggest glitch was the internet. It was slow and unreliable. The good news is that they were installing fiber optic internet as we left. This might fix things, but I am concerned that part of the problem is the repeaters that use old technology. The owners might install a mesh system and combined with fiber optic might be wonderful. But if reliable internet is a necessity for you, check first. Also cell service is borderline due to the rural location but most of the time calls and messages would go through although sometimes we needed to go outside. Overall, our family had a wonderful week and we would definitely consider returning.
What a great away at this perfect location! The house was secluded in a remote rural area, which for us, was perfect. We had the private beach to ourselves, only seeing a couple other people walking the beach during our week there. We saw lots of wildlife including a bald eagle, dolphins, and sting rays! There was 11 total with kids included in the group ranging from 1-8. The house was perfect in the sense that the bedrooms are spread apart and we couldn’t hear each other at night (this was especially great having the 1 year old!). The rooms were comfortable, the living room and kitchen spacious, the beach relaxing and just a great place. Just to note: the Internet was spotty at best. This didn’t bother us too much as we enjoyed the outdoors, however if you were wanting/needing Internet access while there, it would not be reliable.
The house was great, not as clean as it was last year, but we still loved it and are planning to go back next year.
We had a really beautiful trip. You can’t beat the privacy of this beach, and gorgeous sunsets. We hope to return!
First, the beach here is amazing. Even more amazing is the lack of people on it. We had the whole beach to ourselves, literally. The property includes a deck adjacent to the beach, which is nice if you want to sit by the water without dealing with the sand. Next, the town of Cape Charles is just as amazing. Everyone was friendly, always smiling, and there is plenty of shops and restaurants. We rented a golf cart for part of a day since the town is golf cart friendly. We had a great time and allowed us to explore the whole town. The property itself was good too. It has a unique layout, but in a way that draws attention to the amazing views of the bay. It is important to note that cell service is non-existent at the house. Also, the internet was sporadic at best. We didn’t mind it too much, but if you need to have these things then this could become an issue. We are coming back next year for sure!
We had a great time. The house is nice and spacious with a fabulous view of the water. The sunsets never disappointed. House seemed clean and everything was in good condition. One thing to know, if you come with two families, you will have to arm wrestle over the master suite. The rest of the bedrooms do not compare. But are still adequate. The beach is great. Kids had fun chasing crabs. We were very sad when our trip ended.
