The so-called upper Turilji (upper tower) is a historic building dating back to the 1608th The strange thing about this house, with its idyllic garden is: It exudes an improbable peace. They make you feel like transported to another time.
The 'Turilji' is a stone building, whose stately character distinctive difference of the wooden houses of the village. It was restored in 2002 with support of the Canton (office for care of monuments and archeology) and was placed at the same time as a monument of national importance under protection. It is classified as a 'Historic Baute'. It has rare wall paintings and baroque beam type on (a feature in Upper Valais).
Set on 2 floors (50 m2), connected to a relatively narrow staircase (also each floor has its own entrance).
The top floor: in the attic. Entrance. Well equipped kitchen (oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, coffee maker, refrigerator). Sideboard, DAB radio. Dining area. Sofa (sofa bed). Swedish stove (fire place). Shower and toilet.
Downstairs: living and sleeping. Queen size bed (160 cm), sitting area, table, soapstone stove (soapstone stove). Special: Wall and beam paintings (restored originals).
Facilities: new, high-quality standing furniture. Furnaces fully functional. On two floors: additional electric heaters.
In the lowest floor: cellar (is not rented)
Before the house is a sheltered sun terrace. Further west in the garden (about 200 m2), there are other seats. From this oasis of peace you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Rhone valley and to the impressive mountains to Leukerbad and the Lower Valais. The sun can be enjoyed here from morning to night. Rest and relaxation are guaranteed.
History: probably originally built by wealthy salt merchants, as memory. Later used as a bed-sitting-room and ev. As a chapel. However: reliable information about the house history missing.
Arriving by train: to Leuk SBB station, then by bus to Albinen, about 10 minutes. Walk to the house.
Arriving by car: Parking: approximately 10 public parking (free) above the house
